This unit is completely private. Both rooms look out onto a beautiful garden complete with a Koi filled pond and waterfall. There is a lovely area for outdoor eating next to the pond with table and gas grill. There is a removable child safety gate off the back door for safety. The town of Kensington is adjacent to the Berkeley Hills and is a small unincorporated town with its own shops and is quite charming. 3 blocks walk to shops and restaurants. Within 2 miles there are over 100 of the finest restaurants of every ethnic cuisine in the world! The number 7 bus just one block walk from the home takes you all the way to U.C. Berkeley in 15 minutes. One of the most beautiful gardens in California is open to the public and only a 10 minute walk away. Known as the "Blakemont Estate", the President of the entire U.C. system makes this his home. One block walk to a bus that goes directly to U.C. Berkeley. This unit has one master bedroom with its own bathroom, and a second bedroom and bathroom as well. Both rooms come with particularly comfortable, quality beds. This unit comes with a Fridge, Microwave, Toaster, coffee pot and tea pot only. There is an outdoor gas grill, no stove. Access to high speed internet and on Demand Cable TV. 2.5 miles to U.C. Berkeley. This unit has its own private entrance and garden area. There is an $85.00 cleaning fee. We are close to everything, but in a quiet little area that feels a world away from city life. - This property is a 5 minute drive to UC Berkeley. We are a 3 minute drive from Tilden Park where you can find great hiking, picnic areas, a beautiful lake with swimming and a beach. There is a steam train for children as well as a Merry-Go-Round. We are a beautiful 5 minute walk to Kensington shops, and the restaurants in this area are among the finest in the world. We are a 5 minute walk to Buses and a 15 minute walk to Bart.

Why the Owner Chose Berkeley
We bought in this area because it has everything from world class dining to world class entertainment. It has all the advantages of a big city but has the feel of a small European Town.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We are 25 minutes to San Francisco, 1 mile to a massive park which has endless miles of hiking and biking trails, Views of the Golden Gate and SF, Lakes, Streams, Fishing, golfing, miniature steam train rides for the kids, a petting zoo and a Merry Go Round.

Bodhi and Hayley bought this home in 2006 with the hope of growing into the home. It is a large and gracious home and until we do grow into the home we decided it would be fun and logical use of the home and our time to offer it up to travelers.

The two bedroom unit is very nice, with a view of the beautiful garden. The beds are indeed very comfortable and the bathrooms spacious. The bus is one block from the property, runs relatively frequent and stops in the heart of Berkeley, as well as the BART station. It would have been nice to have traditional cable or satellite TV versus the podcast TV that was available. I was disappointed that my deposit check was said to have been torn up, rather than returned to me, which is the reason for 4 stars rather than 5 stars. That being said, if compared to a hotel stay in Berkeley, this property is far superior in quality and value, as well as privacy.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

We were very relaxed staying there and we slept better than we had in YEARS!!! Your location is peaceful, beautiful and so wonderfully out of the way. Don't think we could stay anywhere else. It was perfect for us and I'm sure, will be again.
Owner response:Thanks for noticing. We went to extra trouble and expense to make sure that those beds are extra comfy. We had one guest tell us they had a $4000.00 mattress and ours was still the most comfortable bed ever! Hope to see you soon and sweet dreams!
