Year Purchased: 2005

We are a family of five, currently living on Maui, Hawaii. Olga is born in Ukraine and Svein is from Norway. Our three children Sebastian, Sophie and Ingrid keep us pretty busy.

Why the Owner Chose St. Paul

We bought this house in 2005 when we moved to St. Paul. The house was built in 1889, and has a character and charm that spoke to us. It is in a child friendly neighborhood, with a huge park just across the street. Mississippi Market, our local Coop with local and organic produce, is just a two minutes walk away.

    • We rented this property for two weeks in 2009 and found it to be very comfortable. The house is in a very quiet area as described and the house is very spacious. We would love to use the house again if we return to Minnesota.

    • We thoroughly enjoyed the Berg House. It worked out very well for us ( 3 adults and 2 teenagers) and we were able to have family stop by and see us and not feel crowded. The convenience to Grand Ave. and shops and restaurants was great, as well as access to do laundry and use of the internet. A very positive experience!

    • The Berg House provided an ideal location for a family reunion which required numerous trips to the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport. The home was spotless, well appointed, and extremely comfortable. It was home away from home! The neighborhood provided all of our shopping needs, fun browsing, and beautiful places to walk and run. It will be my first choice for future visits to the Twin Cities!

    • From the flowers planted on the property to the claw footed tub in the upstairs bathroom, Berg house oozes charm. We had three adults and two teens in our party and found the house to be quite roomy. The neighborhood was quiet, so the whole atmosphere of the house was one of privacy. The shops and restaurants within walking distance were a plus.

    • We rented the Berg house for the week of our youngest son's wedding. Its location was a huge plus for us, with all sorts of last-minute errands all over the Twin Cities area. And, the three bedrooms were perfect for my wife and I, and our two older sons and their wives. The roomy dining room was a GREAT gathering place for the whole family in the morning, after a Starbuck's run - only 6 or 8 blocks away - and in the evening when decorating projects were spread out. Two bathrooms served us well, and we would HIGHLY recommend the Berg house to anyone wanting a great place to stay convenient to the entire Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Larry Schmidt Green Valley, AZ

    • The Berg House offers a delightful alternative in a city where traditional lodging options are somewhat wanting. The house is within the limits of the one of the city’s most beautiful and historic residential districts. It serves as a very good base from which to explore most of what is worth seeing in the Twin Cities. The house is best described as warm and inviting. It is simple and elegant with an understated grace. One notes how much the owners love and care for their property. Our group arrived with a very full agenda. We had planned to “hit the ground running” but found ourselves lingering over a second pot of coffee, staying up a little later than normal to enjoy the fireplace. There was more laughter than there might otherwise have been. Our memories remain fonder. I suspect this is because of our decision to stay at the Berg House. A Very Happy Client!

    • We had a very pleasant time at the Berg House. The house is very comfortable and well appointed. We found the location, which was quiet, perfect for getting to better know St. Paul's nearby environs. We highly recommend this house for travels to the Twin Cities area.
