We took our daughter with two of her friends for her birthday. They were real excited about it. We have no complaints about the cabin itself and the creek was a plus. We all had a great time until we got home. We all had bed bug bites! The owners my want to check this out.Owner response: We take any type of complaint from our guests very seriously and we will look into this immediately. We have had no complaints from past or recent guests about bugs or bug bites. In fact, we just received an email today, April 30 from a guest that stayed at the cabin last weekend (April 26-28) saying how much they enjoyed their stay with no mention of any bugs or bug bites. The property management company said they received no complaints from you during your stay and said if they had have, they would've investigated the problem immediately and moved you to another cabin if warranted. The cleaning people also said they saw no signs of any bugs while cleaning the cabin or when changing the sheets on the beds nor did they receive any bug bites. Also, the quilts, sheets and mattress pads are laundered on a frequent basis by the cleaning people. Based on your complaint, we contacted a pest control company to thoroughly inspect the cabin for bugs, fleas, etc. They inspected the cabin today and I was just informed they did not find any bugs or for that matter any signs of where bugs had been. They checked all corners, bedding, behind beds on headboards, etc. as well as the entire cabin and couldn't find any bugs. They also provided us with a written report stating no bugs of any kind were found. We are sorry for your problem with the bug bites but after a thorough inspection done by a licensed pest control company showed no signs of any type of bugs, we do not believe you received the bug bites inside the cabin. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope you will book a future date at the cabin. Sincerely, Owners, Babbling Brook Cabin

We have stayed in this beautiful slice of heaven twice and just booked again for this upcoming spring because we love it so much! What a romantic and beautiful setting! The cabin is perfectly appointed, well maintained, clean and cozy. Our favorite part of staying here has to be the fire pit and the hot tub on the back porch. An added benefit is the neighborhood dog, "Pup," who is friendly and likes to hang out with us around the fire pit. We will continue to come back to this very cabin whenever we travel to North Carolina.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your positive comments about our cabin. The beautiful wooded setting by the stream and convenient location is what lead us to purchase the cabin. We hope you enjoy your upcoming stay and visit from "Pup". Thanks again, Owners, Babbling Brook Cabin

You will be glad you pick this cabin to stay in! My first impression was: "This cabin is NEAT AND CLEAN!" And - it is in a beautiful setting with the creek, and privacy and everything else to boot! The welcome wagon doggie- I called her Lucy, is just the sweetest thing! Everything about our stay was so wonderful. The tranquility of the setting was so relaxing. My favorite was the front porch swing, where I took my coffee every morning. There are so many places to visit close by. We recommend the Cheese Factory in West Jefferson. Todd is an Historical little town just minutes away, along the New River, where you can canoe, tube, and/or kayak. Todd General Store makes the Best Sandwiches! I loved the Grilled Portobello Mushroom sandwich so much, we went there twice for lunch! The bakery in Todd is excellent, and they have WIFI! You should see the frescos at Glendale Springs. A local artist, Ben Long, from Statesville, NC did them, and they are really a treat to see. We took a picnic lunch up on Mount Jefferson, and enjoyed breath-taking views. We did not want to leave. Thank you,Carolina Mtn. Properties, your friendliness and helpfulness will not be forgotten. And last, but not least- thank You for letting us stay in your adorable home for a much needed get-a-way. I will recommend your place to all of my friends. Sorry to be so long, but you have to see this place to believe it. Pictures just do not do it justice. My husband and I and our two dogs had such a wonderful time at Babbling Brook! The location of the cabin on a quiet lane gave us the peace and quiet we needed to relax and the fire pit where we roasted marshmallows took us down memory lane to when we were kids. The antique decor stole our hearts! Our two dogs enjoyed all the woodsy smells and just relaxing on either of the porches with us. At the cabin we felt far away from the world but it was a comfort to know the world wasn't too far in case we needed it...like when we had a pet emergency at the beginning of our stay, it was so great to have an animal hospital with such a caring staff 10 minutes down the road in the town of West Jefferson. And who can live without a Walmart for any little things you forget to pack? West Jefferson has you covered! I know we'll be back to Babbling Brook!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners.

This cabin was very nice. We mostly enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. We absolutely loved your cabin, it was very cozy and homey. We loved the visits from the dog. Even though we don't know her name, we decided to call her Sady. Hope to be back soon. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Thank you for letting us enjoy your lovely home. We were surprised with a snow shower just as we left. A wonderful end to a great weekend here. Your cabin is a dream of ours some day, all the necessities and some special additions without too much. It felt like we had entered a simpler time without sacrificing the comforts of modern homes. Thanks again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Very nice cabin to stay in. Loved all the extra amenities like the hot tub and jacuzzi that we don't have back home. Foosball table was a great extra as well. This was definitely a great get-away. Thanks.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info

About the owner: Hello, we are the Johnsons and we are native North Carolinians. We love to travel to our log cabin in Todd, NC with our 2 Mini-Dachshunds named Max and Gunner. We enjoy the peace and solitude the cabin and area offers. We live 3 hours away and when we're not at the cabin, we rent it so others will get to enjoy it. We love spending as much time at the cabin as possible.
Why the Owner Chose Boone:
Our daughter attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC and while visiting her we took an immediate liking to the High Country. While Boone can be congested with traffic at times we decided to purchase a log cabin over in southern Ashe County. This area is much quieter with less traffic than Boone but is only 20 minutes away. We wanted to be near the New River and Blue Ridge Parkway. Both are about 10 minutes away as is the quaint town of West Jefferson.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We enjoy listening to the babbling stream that flows directly by the cabin while enjoying the mornings first cup of coffee. We also like to walk our dogs down the quiet wooded lane next to the cabin. There's a hot tub on the covered porch that we enjoy relaxing in after a busy day. There's also several rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs that we love to sit and relax in. We like cooking out on the Weber gas grill with our family and friends too. The cabin is truly located in a beautiful peaceful setting consisting of Rhododendrons, Hemlocks and native wildflowers yet convenient to shopping and restaurants. We hope you will visit Babbling Brook Cabin soon.
