Heaven on Earth!

You will be glad you pick this cabin to stay in! My first impression was: "This cabin is NEAT AND CLEAN!" And - it is in a beautiful setting with the creek, and privacy and everything else to boot! The welcome wagon doggie- I called her Lucy, is just the sweetest thing! Everything about our stay was so wonderful. The tranquility of the setting was so relaxing. My favorite was the front porch swing, where I took my coffee every morning. There are so many places to visit close by. We recommend the Cheese Factory in West Jefferson. Todd is an Historical little town just minutes away, along the New River, where you can canoe, tube, and/or kayak. Todd General Store makes the Best Sandwiches! I loved the Grilled Portobello Mushroom sandwich so much, we went there twice for lunch! The bakery in Todd is excellent, and they have WIFI! You should see the frescos at Glendale Springs. A local artist, Ben Long, from Statesville, NC did them, and they are really a treat to see. We took a picnic lunch up on Mount Jefferson, and enjoyed breath-taking views. We did not want to leave. Thank you,Carolina Mtn. Properties, your friendliness and helpfulness will not be forgotten. And last, but not least- thank You for letting us stay in your adorable home for a much needed get-a-way. Cabin was decorated to season, very clean-fresh-and homey. We very much enjoyed our stay. All the personal touches just made the cabin so special-very well taken care of. Would love to stay again! I'd recommend to families and especially couples- very private cabin--perfect romantic getaway!

This cabin was very nice. We mostly enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace. We absolutely loved your cabin, it was very cozy and homey. We loved the visits from the dog. Even though we don't know her name, we decided to call her Sady. Hope to be back soon. Thanks!

Very nice cabin to stay in. Loved all the extra amenities like the hot tub and jacuzzi that we don't have back home. Foosball table was a great extra as well. This was definitely a great get-away. Thanks.

My husband and I and our two dogs had such a wonderful time at Babbling Brook! The location of the cabin on a quiet lane gave us the peace and quiet we needed to relax and the fire pit where we roasted marshmallows took us down memory lane to when we were kids. The antique decor stole our hearts! Our two dogs enjoyed all the woodsy smells and just relaxing on either of the porches with us. At the cabin we felt far away from the world but it was a comfort to know the world wasn't too far in case we needed it...like when we had a pet emergency at the beginning of our stay, it was so great to have an animal hospital with such a caring staff 10 minutes down the road in the town of West Jefferson. And who can live without a Walmart for any little things you forget to pack? West Jefferson has you covered! I know we'll be back to Babbling Brook!

Thank you for the extra care and for knowing what people want in a cottage in the woods! We must have put more hours on the front porch swing than anyone! We especially loved having "Pup" the welcome wagon around! We truly hope to be back.

PROS: The cabin was quaint, adorable and roomy enough for our group. We stayed during the holidays and the attention to the holiday decorations was sweet, making us feel right at home. The kitchen was well equipped with just about anything you needws to cook up a nice meal. Although we couldn't use any of the facilities outside, or for that matter, barely walk around the property because of the ice and snow, the interior amenities made up for it. From a great fireplace to the TV and games, we kept ourselves very entertained. The 2 rooms were very nice and the beds were surprisingly comfortable and cozy. The 2 bathrooms were also a nice, but warning, bring your own toilet paper. The location was convenient to many of the local attractions, including Boone. The property is surrounded by streams, large pine trees and other cabins, including one directly across the street. Safety was not a concern. CONS: 1. most dangerous aspect; the driveway. The built up of snow/ice completely neglected prior to our arrival rendering the use of salt useless; confirmed by the spa cleaner that was recruited, after our repeated complaints and a few falls, to clean a path from the cabin to the street where our automobile was. He could only do about 3 ft-his back was out-driveway much longer. 2. Main living-no access to DVD playback or at least not working. Upstairs TV useful for DVD but no other service, not to mention that it’s way smaller and no comfortable sitting area available. 3. The master bedroom gets extremely cold even when the rest of the cabin is warm and cozy-windows are not winterized or double pane. Upstairs area & bedroom gets extremely hot due to the fireplace. 4. The overall cleanliness was overlooked; areas rugs, bathmats and throws needed obvious cleaning. Seeing that animals are allowed, I would think more attention to these would be obvious. 5. Warning, read the fine print, you must wash your own bed linens and towels if more than two loads are left, or you’ll be charged. More importantly although very professional, rental staff was uncaring about iced driveway and safety concerns. Even after I went personally and explained the problem. All in all, I would consider renting this property again if some of these simple things were addressed. Like I said, it’s cozy, sweet, quaint, safe neighborhood, near attractions and the owner seemed very nice and willing to make our stay wonderful when, I believe, he was directly informed by the rental company.

Owner response:As the owners of Babbling Brook Cabin we would like to address the concerns you had during your stay the week of December 26, 2009: 1. The week you stayed at the cabin there was a record breaking snow/ice storm with the power being out a couple of days. The rental company was simply overwhelmed during this time due to the icy roads and power being out. 2. As you mentioned, there is no DVD player in the downstairs living room. The DVD player along with a TV and assortment of movies is located upstairs in the loft. There is also a sofa, table and upholstered chair along with a foosball table in the loft. In addition to this, there's a 32" flat panel TV and cd player in the downstairs living room. 3. The cabin is heated by gas and we have never been to cold in the master bedroom or have we received any complaints about this. Most cabins with upstairs bedrooms generally are a little warmer due to the heat rising so at night we've always cut the heat back. 4. The cleaning company has always done an excellent job in cleaning the cabin. In fact, other guests have commented in our guest book about how clean the cabin was upon their arrival. I will pass your complaint on to the rental company. 5. The cleaning staff will launder up to 2 loads of linens, towels etc. but due to the time frame involved in cleaning the cabin, they only have enough time to wash 2 loads. Renters are given the option to pay a linen fee if there is more than 2 loads of linens, etc. left. This is pretty standard in the vacation rental business. Also, the cleaning fee is not paid by the renter, rather by the owner. We are sorry the snow/ice storm and power outage affected your stay, but those things are out of our control. We hope you will visit Babbling Brook Cabin again in the near future.

We cannot express our joy we felt, spending a wonderful week at your cabin! The cabin was more beautiful than the internet pictures could show and the "feeling" here was so comforting and warm. We cooked on the grill, sat by the campfire cooking hotdogs on a stick, and then marshmallows. This week has been a dream come true! We played foosball and had brought our own games and dvds. Enjoyed the hot tub too. A sweet dog also made our stay "a little more like home". The dog came by a couple times each day to play with us and allow us to love her and hug her. We hope that if she visits other guests, that they will appreciate her as much as we did.

This wonderful cabin was everything we hoped it would be and more, the perfect mountain get away. We loved sitting on the front porch listening to the sounds of nature. The interior was clean and comfortable and the decor was primitive and cozy. We had a great time.

Babbling Brook

Wonderful cabin - decorated with primitives, yet complete with all the luxuries you could ask for! Quiet, peaceful, and there truly is a brook on the property which "babbles". The cabin is clean, and property well-manicured. We enjoyed spending time in nearby Todd and W.Jefferson, where there are fun shops and restaurants We loved our stay at Babbling Brook, and hope to make it back there soon!

Thank you so very much for the few days of seclusion, rest and relaxation. The cool air was a welcome relief after humid, mid 80's days earlier this week in New Orleans! Absolutely loved the bluegrass musical choices, the TV was great for watching NCAA tournament play. The guide books were quite useful for planning some excursions and hiking, and the fireplace and hot tub were both a welcome contrast to the frigid winds that whipped through a few nights ago. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Cozy! Babbling Brook was the perfect place for us to stay warm and enjoy our vacation during such frigid temps. (wind chill below zero) We fell in love with the pictures on the website but seeing it in person was heavenly! The Christmas decorations were an added bonus. We enjoyed finding new amenities and decorations in every corner and on every wall. Thank you for making our intro into 2008 not only relaxing but perfect for our family.
