This is the location you want for your Adirondack vacation. Our home sits on 5 ACRES with a magnificent view of the high peaks. It is quiet and secluded off a country road, yet very close to charming downtown Keene. Minutes away you will find horseback riding, fly-fishing, swimming, hiking, cross country skiing, rock or ice climbing. We are only 15 MINUTES TO WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN, the only Olympic downhill ski center and also rated #1 in the East by Ski Magazine. Whiteface has an excellent kids campus and nursery facility.
The hamlet of Keene known as the "Home to the High Peaks" boasting the greatest number of peaks in a single location. These mountains rise majestically in the Keene Valley Region making this area a mecca for hikers, climbers and other visitors who wish to experience the beauty of the Adirondack mountains. There are literally hundreds of hiking, skiing, walking and biking trails located in MINUTES FROM OUR HOUSE including the trail to the summit of Mt. Marcy, the highest mountain in New York State.
Our house is just 20 minutes from the Ski Jumping Complex, where you can ride to the top of the 26 story, 120 meter ski jump in a glass enclosed elevator! Other venues include the bobsled and luge track where you can take an exhilarating ride down the only dedicated bobsled run in the US. We are 25 MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN LAKE PLACID, with its Olympic skating rink, historic sites, and world-class horse shows. If you stick around the house, enjoy a walk right out our front door, down our secluded long driveway and look for wildlife or continue on down the country road to the east branch of the Ausable River to swim, fish or just enjoy the scenery.
We pay attention to detail in our 2600 SQUARE FOOT HOME. The inviting 20 by 40 ft. living room has a vaulted ceiling where you can sit on our wrap around couch and watch the view of the mountains over our 20 by 40 ft deck. The deck connects to a separate screened in covered porch. There are new oak floors and carpeting as well as gorgeous knotty pine walls and ceilings.
The spacious kitchen was remodeled completely in 2003. You will find EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO PREPARE LARGE FAMILY MEALS IN STYLE! In addition to our kitchen and patio tables we have 4 six foot tables and 16 padded chairs. These are perfect so large groups can all eat together. The large living room with the mountain view and the kitchen are all well connected which makes it easy to be together as a family.
For indoor entertainment enjoy our 42 inch flat screen TV with a brand new theater sound system (VCR, DVD, CD player) and over 100 channels of Direct TV Satellite service. There is a second entertainment center located in a bedroom with a TV, DVD player and VCR for watching movies. You will also find ample tapes, DVDs, books and board games. We also have a nordic track indoor exercise.

All bedrooms are closed except for the loft. In addition there is a futon in the living room, 2 air mattresses, 2 cots, a sofa and a large sectional couch that can sleep 2. There are now 3 FULL BATHS! 1 spacious bathroom downstairs with a standard shower/tub, 1 with a steam room style shower with a built in seat. The loft has a lovely brand new bathtub with a hand held shower. You will feel at home and comfortable in our tastefully decorated house.
The retreat is PERFECT FOR those who have YOUNG CHILDREN. We have a pack n play with a changing table, high chair, stroller, vibrating bouncy seat, infant bath, play gym and a variety of toys and books.
There is ample storage for skis, boats and bikes in our huge dry basement.
We supply linens,towels,an excellent selections of basic cooking supplies and spices. Upon arrival you will receive a welcome basket with a few treats to get you started.

Although we planned a week at this house, we were forced to change our plans due to Hurricane Irene. However, I can't say enough about how wonderful this family was to deal with. Not only did they help us plan the vacation before we arrived, but they were highly responsive and helpful once we found ourselves dealing with Irene. You can trust them 100%!

My group has stayed at this property twice and both times have been superb experiences. The owners are responsive and professional during the booking and the house is always clean and ready for our arrival. We travel in a group of 6-10+, and our main activity is day-hiking the High Peaks. The proximity to the trailheads, multiple bathrooms, and spacious multi-cook friendly kitchen are invaluable when we want to maximize time on-trail and still live like civilized ladies and gentlemen. Additionally, on rest-days the house is perfect for a large family breakfast followed by a very comfortable day of just hanging around. The great room and deck are big enough that a large group can socialize together, and there are enough tucked-away corners where a handful of people can break away to socialize. Throughout our travels in the northeast we have found vacation rentals in general and this property in particular to be an excellent value.

We stayed here over MLK weekend for the Adk International Mountainfest. The central location between Keene, Placid, and Whiteface/Jay area is perfect for active groups or families as - winter or summer - there are a host of diverse activities convienently located from the house. Nordic skiing, backcountry skiing, numerous popular rock and ice climbing destinations, downhill skiing at Whiteface - all are equally accessible from the property! Keene and Keene Valley are closer than Placid for dining in particular, and there are several great new options if you're too tired to prepare food in the fully equipped and spacious kitchen. Try Great Range for dinner, a NYC expat-run wine bar and restaurant featuring a modern American menu that is very affordable. Green Point Foods is a great place to grab breakfast/coffee/sandwiches, and the ongoing renovations at Cedar Run (at the junction of 9N and 73) hold promise for a delicious and informal breakfast/lunch/dinner. The house itself is big, well supplied, and comfortable. It was clean & organized and the open floor plan and great room are a pleasure to gather and relax in after a long day. The driveway was regularly plowed, even with only a few inches of snow here and there throughout the week. Overall it is a lovely, affordable, convenient base camp in a perfect location! Highly recommended!

We had 11 women stay three nites and four days at this wonderful cozy home. There was a big kitchen to make gourmet meals in. Plenty of dining room and chairs to seat our large group quite comfortably for long relaxing dinners with great wine and conversations. The living rm. is carpeted and has great counches for lounging in. The large picture windows gave us a great views of the mountains as well as great star gazing and a look at the full moon. The 4 bdrms. are all comfortable and three bathrooms means no one has to wait. Excellent location for us to winter hike the ADK peaks and x-country sking Jack Rabbit Trail. We will def. go back!

The house was very spacious for our large group. The living room is incredibly large, everyone was spread out doing different activities but all together at the same time. The place is very clean. The deck is very large and a great place to site and enjoy mornings and evenings. The location was close to everything this area has to offer.

This is an amazing house! It is close to all of the main attractions – hiking, skiing, fishing, restaurants, and Olympic venues, yet, it offers complete privacy from the hustle and bustle of other vacationers. The house is situated down a quaint private road with spectacular views of the mountains from the comfort of the spacious deck, or, during winter, from the coziness of the plush couch. It is spacious enough for a large group to spread out, yet, cozy enough to feel homey. As an added bonus, it is very kid friendly and they allow well-behaved dogs. Highly recommended!!

Nice large home with a lot of room for large group. Nothing fancy, but has everything you need to be a home away from home. We had 3 families, 13 total with plenty of room for both adults and kids. The large living room/dining room was great for everyone to gather, play games and other activitives. Location was great for skiing Whiteface (less than 15 minutes) and close enough to ski Gore Mountain. Also, good for visit Lake Placid and Olympic venues. Thanks for a great stay.
