BICYCLE & WALKER'S PARADISE
Enjoy French country village life and the excitement of Paris at the same time! The historically classed village of Carrières sur Seine is a bicycler and walker's paradise. It was a favorite of the impressionists who painted its little winding streets with quarry stone houses built up along the Seine. You can live in a village house as the only American in town and yet be only 20 minutes by public transportation from the Champs Elysées and 30 minutes from the Latin Quarter. And if you want to visit Versailles, Giverny, and destinations west, staying in Carrieres means you are already on your way!
In Carrières, you can walk everywhere. Shop in the open air town market, and be known by the boulangère. Spend time in the little jewel of a Parc across the street, designed by Le Nôtre, gardener to King Louis XIV. Walk the lovely miles along the Seine on a pedestrian path past the old lavoir (now an art gallery). Or head to the café by the river and watch the local folks playing boules.
Our little, one bedroom apartment is on the ground-floor of a three-story house in the center of the old village, two steps from a beautiful park on the Seine. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, tile floors, and functional IKEA style furniture. There is a double bed in the bedroom and a pullout couch in the living room. A washer and dryer are available in the cave with plenty of storage space for suitcases.
We have adored living in Carrières and have kept it a special secret. We’d be glad to share our special place with travelers who are bound to appreciate it the way our family has. We have left lots of information in the apartment about how to enjoy the area. We accept payment in dollars, which we hope will reduce your expenses while giving you an unforgettable trip to Paris.
You will find enclosed some attachments of photos of Carrières and of our apartment. If you are interested in a vacation rental, please return this e-mail with your projected dates of stay. We will return information about rates and rental conditions along with a full set of pictures of the apartment and the neighborhood.
A bientôt,
Roger and Andrea

Roger and Andrea's apartment is perfect for anyone wanting to visit both Paris and the surrounding villages. There's free street parking within a five minute walk of the apartment and, when going to Paris by train, there's very cheap parking in lots next the station at only 3.30 euro for the whole day. If you get there and all the spaces are taken you'll only need to wait a few minutes before someone arrives to drive away and leave you their space. The train station is only a five minute drive from the apartment and the train ride to Paris is less than twenty minutes. By car, the great sites around Paris can be reached in under two hours. Most of them are half an hour to an hour and a half away.We visited Versailles, Fontainbleau, Giverny, Vaux-le-Vicompte, St. Germian-en-Laye, Chartre, Chantilly, Compiegne, Senlis, and Pierrefonds. We even made it up to the resort towns of Trouville and Deauville on the Normandy coast in just two hours. We interspersed these trips with day trips into Paris. The apartment itself is very cute, clean, and fully equipped and Roger was very helpful and promptly replied to my email messages when I had questions. We stayed for three weeks in July 2012 and my wife and I are very happy that we chose this apartment and highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The apartment and village were great, both for 6 weeks of family living and for my husband's daily commute into Paris. Thanks also for your quick response time over email. All the neighbors who you put us in touch with were phenomenal. The Buires were always right there to check in, to invite the children to play in their upstairs garden, to give us advice about the village and the workings of the apartment. AND Dr. Buire even stopped his Sunday evening guitar session on the spot to examine my baby's ruptured eardrum (on the eve of our departure from Carrieres) and called the pharmacist across the street who gave us an appropriate antibiotic without charging us a cent. The village, which has all the necessities for family living, was an easy 5 minute walk, as well as multiple playgrounds and the library. My husband's daily commute into Paris was simple and prompt, and we enjoyed many easy daytrips with the children into Paris as well as walks to Chatou and the Ile des Impressionistes. The apartment is very well set up and uses the amount of space efficiently. Thanks for providing so many necessities and extras -- from the more-than-adequate cookware and laundry facilities and bedding and internet to the extras like a welcome postcard and your CD and all the guidebooks and information, your hospitality was excellent. It's been a pleasure renting from and corresponding with you, Roger. Thanks for everything!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My wife and I stayed here for a week in October 2008. It was lovely and comes with the highest recommendation. The community is quiet, yet has all necessary amenities. The location is an ideal place from which to explore Paris, yet be able to enjoy quiet at the end of the day. If you are staying in Paris, please consider staying in this apartment.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

We just returned from a lovely stay in Carrieres-sur-Seine. Roger and Andrea's apartment was great. Perfectly situated just outside Paris. Charming and nicely appointed. Spotless clean when we arrived. We loved the excellent bus service to the RER train station and could go from the living room of the apartment to central Paris in 35 minutes! Which we did every day! The town is gorgeous, great for walking. The people were friendly and helpful. The market and nearby supermarket were within walking distance. The neighborhood is also amazingly quiet! It was a heavenly week - we only wish we could have stayed longer!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

September is a great time to visit Carriers-sur- siene! The location was perfect.....especially for the price. Everything was in great working order and the apartment was very clean and neat on our arrival. We rented a car and had no problem parking every day. We either took the car to the RER to go in to Paris or went on day trips. Because of the great location we had a head start on our day trips to Giverny, Versailles, and Rouen. Very quaint town with very friendly and helpful people!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the beautiful and quaint village of Carrières-sur-Seine! Our stay was perfect. We had the peace and quiet of a lovely traditional French village but also the convenience of being so close to the center of Paris, and also Versailles. We had everything we needed in the apartment: bedroom, kitchen, private bathroom, and even our own laundry!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
