Serenity Hill's name came about because so many guests kept saying, "this is the most peaceful and serene place I have ever been". Many mountain view cabins are stuck up on top of a mountain in a "subdivision" where all the trees have been mowed down so that you can get the best view; Serenity Hill is nestled in a forest and has three acres of woods surrounding it with just enough trees removed so that you get a great view of the mountains without sacrificing privacy and seclusion. For those of you who enjoy a beautiful hike, there is a wonderful hiking trail from the cabin, winding down the mountain, ending at my property on the Toccoa River. The Toccoa River is magnificent and one of the best "trout streams" in Fannin County; especially during the summer this is a wonderful place to fish, picnic or just cool off.
Some of the extras you'll really enjoy are the "fire circle" and outdoor hot tub. The "fire circle" is surrounded by wood benches, a great place for roasting hot dogs, marshmallows and making smores….in addition to life long family memories. The hot tub is located on the back deck overlooking the mountains where you may enjoy your (clothes optional cause there's plenty of privacy) lazy evening soaks. Once you get inside, you'll be so very pleased as much of my furniture has been hand made by local craftsmen (except for sofas and mattresses which are new and very comfortable). The log beds are covered with "Pottery Barn" quilts, the bath towels are "fluffy" (there are plenty of them) and the sofas are large and inviting (great for afternoon naps…in the spring with the cool breezes blowing through the house, or the fall/winter in front of a roaring fire). You'll find my kitchen fully equipped with plenty of pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster, etc. as well as coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, spices, dish soap, paper towels. This home was not furnished like a "rental"; everything in it will make you feel very special.
At Serenity Hill you will have the advantage of my manager/housekeeper being close by; this alone is an invaluable "extra". She will call to check on you to make sure all is well, and be accessible should anything arise. In addition she is available to help make your stay more memorable and comfortable. She will be happy to deliver flowers, wine, chocolate, wood, etc. for those romantic weekends; she can have groceries there and waiting for you at the cabin if you like; she is a wonderful and experienced babysitter; she is there for any and all questions you may have about the cabin and/or the area…..As you can see, we've thought of everything.
Serenity Hill is one-bedroom plus a loft, with the large open loft being used as a second bedroom. In addition to the downstairs bedroom, the upstairs loft can sleep up to 4 people and this cabin also has a queen sofa that pulls out to a sleeper. It is located in McCaysville, Georgia and is about fifteen minutes from Blue Ridge. This cabin can accommodate six comfortably, and eight if you are really good friends who don’t mind sharing one bathroom.
If you love the outdoors, you'll never run out of things to do while in the area. Within 20 minutes of the cabin you'll be able to go white water rafting, horseback riding, swimming, hiking (National Parks, State Parks, Aska Adventure Area), mountain biking and much more. If you like to shop and dine there are many local restaurants, grocery stores, antique shops, artisans' shops featuring local artists works, etc. There is a drive-in-movie (which is so much fun for those of us who remember actually going to them) and a movie theater in Blue Ridge. |
