This is the fourth time I've looked at my cell phone. No service! I am walking around the grounds into the jungle. I pause to watch the line of leaf cutter ants marching across the trail, each carrying their portion of leaf proudly back to their nest. A blue crowned Motmot wags its tail at me from the tree, accompanied by its croak. No wonder some locals call it a clockbird. The shadows are lengthening as the cool of the evening comes up from the river. It is noisy in the jungle at night. If it's dry, the insects chirp; if it's wet, the frogs croak. That's how I was lulled to sleep last night, after I went to my cabana with the trail sparkled with fireflies. I'll do the same tonight, after a great meal prepared by my hosts. I look at my cell phone again. No service! This is glorious! Solitude, privacy, a true respite from the world. Thank you, Ron and Al, for this peaceful place.

We stayed twice at this lovely resort. The grounds, as well as the resort itself, were absolutely gorgeous. We spent mornings walking barefoot along the lush grassy path, lined with Morning Glories, down to the river as the parrots and toucans passed by overhead. The afternoons were spent lazing on one of the hammocks on the property or bobbing down the river on a tube, as neon orange and green iguanas wearily watched us as they precariously balanced their large bodies on the tree branches above. Evenings were a gastronomic delight, as we were treated to everything from local Belizean fare, authentic Italian to Chesapeake Bay home cookin', courtesy of the owners, who cooked each meal from scratch. Al & Ron were wonderful, accomodating hosts who took the time to give us a tour of Belize, as well as the surrounding areas. We coudn't have asked for a better vacation!

We stayed at Macaw Bank and were completely impressed. Ron & Al were wonderful hosts and cooks. Not only did we enjoy the comfortable accomadations, but we enjoyed spending time with them. The grounds are stunning! It is quite impressive to know that they carved the lodge out of raw jungle and transformed it into what it is today. We look forward to returning.

The Macal Bank Jungle Lodge was a slice of Heaven that my husband and I did not expect to find. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful grounds. The Flora and Fauna is unlike any we have ever seen. Ron and Al are the perfect hosts, ever attentive to our every need. Our Belize experience was "over the top" because of thier knowlege and guidance. We enjoyed our time with the two of you immensely. The food is the best in Belize and Guatemela. We felt catered to at every meal. This is a true eco lodge. Ron and Al are ahead of the game for environmental issues. Macal Bank Jungle Lodge is perfect for families. We plan on bringing our kids next time. With a riverfront property, and beautiful trails we know our children will get the best jungle experience imaginable. We looked at many of the other places offering this experience during our visit and were shocked to find them located in the middle of the town. We are so grateful that we we found you, Ron and Al! We feel we have stumbled on one of the best kept secrets in Belize. We will see you next time! Thank you!
Owner response:Thank you very much for your positive comment. We do our best to make your Belize holiday as fulfilling and enjoyable as we possible are able. It is good to know we have succeeded. Many thanks and we look forward to hosting you and your family in the future. Sincerely, Ron
