Our guests describe the Tower as their "best ever" stay in Mendocino. "It's a unique walk in and live happily ever after place."
At this writing, the Anderson Valley is alive with fall color and the scents of the grape and apple harvest. Resident quail and ravens are keeping watch and migratory song birds and water fowl are passing through the area. The waves are crashing and whale sightings are increasingly frequent.
Enjoy a quiet conversation, a video/DVD, or dive into a good book while listening to your favorite music in the cozy living room. Pack a picnic or share a tasty meal in the well-equipped kitchen/dining area or walk to one of Mendocino's excellent restaurants.
Snuggle under down and handmade quilts in the queen-size bed on the second floor, pull out the new queen-size hideabed in the living room, or bunk in the third floor Captain's bed to view spouting whales, an early sunrise or a moonset into the sea. Climb the ship's ladder to the Widow's Walk for panoramic coastal views (shown, along with other photos, on the Tower website).

Romantic Mendocino Village Water Tower-Ocean & Garden Views
Year Purchased: 1989
Why the Owner Chose Mendocino
Living near the ocean has always been a priority for us and the Village of Mendocino won our hearts because of the spectacular bluff top setting and the rural community with its strong focus on the arts and on preservation of the town and its natural environment. It's a privilege to live here and welcome others to this very special place.
The Unique Benefits at this Self-contained guest house
Staying in the heart of Mendocino Village allows our guests to enjoy its scenic beauty and share the slower pace and peaceful spirit of our rural community. Comfortable shoes are welcome wherever one goes...from one of the excellent restaurants, to a whale watching cruise, a hike up Big River, a Music Festival concert, Film Festival screening, Writer's Conference seminar...or just prop them up on our tree stump "footrest" and lounge on the Tower porch with a good book.
A great country market and deli 3-block walk from the Tower. Operating since 1909!
Whether you need a sweatshirt or a fine art gallery, a wedding ring or homemade fudge, you'll find it on Mendocino's historic main street.
Walk the Headlands Trail and follow the signs down the stairs to Portuguese Beach. Enjoy the protected cove and driftwood. Do keep your dog on leash to avoid a state park fine.
Big River Road drops down to a beautiful beach and continues east, up the river for several miles. Good for walks, runs, bike rides. Cross the river and turn left and left again to rent a Kayak for
10 Miles North is the town of Fort Bragg with the popular Skunk Railroad and fish restaurants and Whale Watching Trips in Noyo Harbor. The beautiful Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden is located on Hig
Owner's Map of Mendocino
Innkeeprs Don and Wendy Roberts purchased the historic Bever House in 1989 and re-built the adjacent water tower two years later as a unique guest house in the heart of Mendocino's National Historic District. Recently retired from Stanford University's Communiction Department, Don continues his writing and consults on children's television program. Wendy applies her non-profit management skills to various local endeavors and serves on the town's historic review board.

This is our home away from home for two weeks every spring. Can't say enough good things about staying here. The lilacs are blooming. Pumpkin the gray neighbor cat came to visit and we celebrated our 24th anniversary

I'm so glad my dog walking friend told me about this place. It's the most unique, unusual place I've stayed. We all loved it. It's peaceful and quiet and we were able to enjoy our yearly get together.

We loved our four nights in the water tower and Mendocino. It brought back some lovely memories of our wedding here two years ago.

A very quiet, peaceful spot. We loved the tower and views it provided. Mendocino remains the shining gem it was years ago. Thanks for your hospitality.

Loved this water tower. Hopefully someday we will have our own. Great weather, great views. Loved the flowers and hummingbirds. Bought the best steaks ever at Mendosa's Market and barbecued them here. Great place to get away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four nights in the tower. So well situated and so well equipped for a getaway with parents visiting from France. Thank you for the lovely space and thoughtful things you've included. We enjoyed the special touches...the kitchen, garden, lovely views framed by fresh curtains, comfy beds...and peace and quiet.
