Casa Majahua is a retreat for four amigos who wish to share a slower pace life with friends and family away from the work-a-day life. Casa Majahua can be a great getaway for you, your friends and family, too.

Casa Majahua was built by the very special architecture, design and construction team of Gustavo Jasso and Karina Cabana. Gustavo and Karina strive to build as eco-friendly as they can, using trees that have already fallen and sustainable wood (coconut palm). Casa Majahua utilizes a grey water system (to water plants).

Casa Majahua is made up of five separate structures--a common area, two identical casitas, a guest quarters and a tower. The combined living area is just over 6000 square feet on almost a half acre of land.

The first floor of the common area houses the kitchen, dining room, living room and a full bathroom. The dining room table can accommodate up to 18 people. The living room is connected to the infinity pool and has direct access to the swim-up bar, not to mention direct access to the beach and views of the ocean and Majahua Point. There are stairs in the living room to the second story as well.

The pool area includes a swim up bar, steps into the pool from the living room, a wrap-around deck, an attached hot tub and a shower as you come in from the beach.

The second story of the common area contains one enclosed bedroom/entertainment room (full futon) which is air conditioned. The rest of the second floor is an open loft area, which can accommodate overflow sleeping. Another unique feature of this level is a "gangplank" that traverses the dining room to a deck where you can watch the sunset.

Each of the two casitas has an outdoor living room with sleeping chaise lounge (full size - can accommodate 2 people). There is an inside bedroom (king bed) on the first level with large full bath, and the second level is a loft area, which can be used for overflow sleeping (full size futon). The casitas copy the common area "gangplank" effect, and each have a little deck to look out to the ocean. The casitas utilize palapa roofs that allow in sea breezes, therefore, no air conditioning is utilized.

The Guest Quarters contain two separate air conditioned bedrooms (queen bed) and one shared full bathroom.

The Tower is two stories. The first story contains the laundry facilities. The second story is one bedroom (queen bed) with an attached full bathroom. This room also enjoys strong ocean breezes, thus no air conditioning.

Casa Majahua staff are on-site every day to clean living spaces (sheets are changed every 3 days...towels more often based on guest need), water plants and clean the pool. We also have a night watchman, Don Tino, who rounds out our 24 hr security.

As part of your reservation, you will be greated by our Property Manager, Alejandro, or his wife, Mariana when you first arrive. They will walk you through the property. Mariana will also check in every day to ensure you have everything you need. She can help you arrange tours or provide help in other areas (i.e. shopping).

Lastly, a cook can be arranged for $10 per person per day (plus you pay for the food itself). Please indicate whether you'd like this additional service when you make your reservation.

    • We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Majahua for 2 weeks, during a family reunion. "I feel like a movie star"... This phrase was heard quite often during our stay. It is hard to tell whether it is the architecture (beautiful, detailed and consciously designed), the service (Mariana, Alejandro and the whole staff make a genuine effort to make you feel at home), or the setting (private beach, Jacuzzi overlooking the ocean...nice) At the end, it is probably a feeling of "belonging"... that creates this experience. I believe the owners have somehow created a group of "friends and family" that make you feel welcome and "at home" as soon as you step into Casa Majahua. I sincerely recommend this property Kendji

    • I had the amazing privilege of staying at Casa Majahua in July of this year. It truly is the most wonderful vacation spot I've ever been...and much more beautiful in person than in the pictures. The architecture, furnishings, and landscaping is gorgeous. The crystal blue ocean is just steps away, and the sound of the waves peacefully drift you to sleep in the fabulous casitas. The infinity pool was a perfect way to relax the day away! Everything was top-notch...I felt as though I were in a "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" episode! The owners and staff are so kind and helpful. The neighboring restaurants and lounges were easily accessible and very nice as well. Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo are close and definitely worth exploring and shopping. I would not hesitate to give Casa Majahua the highest recommendation to anyone looking for a fabulous vacation spot!

    • A huge thank you to Denni and Moiraa for allowing us to enjoy their beautiful home in Troncones. I felt like a million bucks the whole week. It is truly a magical place. It was a totally relaxing, wonderful week and I couldn't imagine a more beautiful spot to get married. My fiance (now husband) Bertrand and I had a gorgeous sunset Thursday for our wedding. There had been no clouds at all the entire week, but they started to roll in on Thursday. The clouds made for a more dramatic sunset. As predicted, everyone who came down had a wonderful time and were very impressed with the Casa. We took a group photo of us all wearing hospital masks with our hand making an "L" on our forehead for all the losers who thought they might catch the swine flu down there. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. Mariana was absolutely wonderful. She was so helpful in getting us a phone card, toothbrushes for the two who forgot theirs, etc. Her wedding floral arrangements were beautiful. She was just a delight. Poly was a sweetheart. And I kept forgetting the housekeeper/cook's name... she was very nice and a hard worker. She cooked us lobster on Wednesday for the "rehearsal dinner", though there really wasn't any rehearsal involved. Caterer Juan Pascal, aka Zihua Chef, was awesome and his food was delicious. He has such a positive aura. We enjoyed getting to know him. He came by our first night to greet us and then came back on Monday to go over the wedding reception menu. We ate at Present Moment (a yoga spa down the road) our last night. Every other night we didn't want to step one foot away from Casa Majahua. I took my future stepdaughter horseback riding on Monday and she had a blast galloping down the beach just north in Majahua. Then three of us adults went diving with Jean Pascal's brother Frederick on Wednesday. I woke up the morning after we left wanting to go sit on the front deck and read my book while also watching the pelicans skim the waves as the sun came up. That view is permanently ingrained in my mind, so I can go there by closing my eyes when I'm stressed out. I can't imagine anyone spending time at Casa Majahua and not having a completely relaxing, magical time. It was truly one of the best vacations I've ever had. You won't regret your decision to stay here. Gayle Phoenix, AZ

    • WOW, and again a DOUBLE WOW!!! North of Ixtapa, secluded, close to the village of Troncones with plenty of local fare and shopping for "the getaway"! Our family get-together for 12 was THE BEST we've ever had, with an 88 year old mom to a 1 1/2 year old grandson. Eating, money exchange, shopping were no problem with NO little upsetting surprises. The on-site management staff of Mariana and Alejandro was wonderful. To the owners I say, "MAGNIFICO' and we hope to return soon.

    • Casa Majahua is an amazing retreat, where the owners have thought of every little detail to make this villa perfect. Everything from the pool, the casitas, the view, the kitchen, and even the sheets and towels are great. The staff is top notch, and the location can't be beat if you are looking for a true Mexican getaway! My family and I had a fantastic time, and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

    • I think I can speak for the whole group when I say that we had an excellent time at your Casa. Besides the wonderful sunsets, swims in the ocean, fishing off the rocks, long walks on the beach and friendly neighbors, we enjoyed your facility and staff without question. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Above and beyond! The rooms and gardens were always clean, groomed and manicured. We loved learning about your Majahua tree and how the flowers changed colors throughout the day only to fall to the ground at night. Our cook quietly prepared the most wonderful meals. Each day we looked forward to her arrival and what she would create. Mexican food will never be the same. Thank you for sharing your wonderful Casa Majahua with us.

    • What a wonderful spot! We had the most fabulous time staying at this gloriuos spot. The kids surfed every morning at different local beaches. We walked the beaches and swam in the beautiful, clear ocean. The staff is outstanding, the food delicious. The home wonderful. Terrific all the way around.

    • To sum it up, I still have dreams about this home. I think about ways to pack up my life in San Francisco and move to this amazing compound that looks like it was featured in a vacation home magazine. Maybe it's the private beach and a constant soothing of its crashing waves. Or the relaxation of rocking in the hammock next to the beautiful and inviting pool. Any way you look at it, this home and the lovely people who run it exceeded every expectation I could possibly have had. And until I return (which I certainly will) I'll just have to keep dreaming about it!

    • My comment will not do this place justice....but I will try. We were married at Casa Majahua in October 2008. We stayed there with a couple of close friends for one week. Leaving was pure misery. The architecture of Casa Majahua is amazing and very open. Very unique and wonderfully spread out. We spent most of our days and nights in the terrific pool. The workers at Casa Majahua can set anything up for you, and one example from our stay was a last minute lobster dinner that was fantastic. The night watchmen is Don Tino and we loved him. Casa Majahua is rather secure with high walls only opening towards the beach. The AirCon media room allowed us to watch the occasional late night movie. The kitchen was great...the main sleeping quarters were magical and open. I could go on all day. We dream of returning someday. Ian
