Location: Dillon Beach, San Francisco Bay Area, California, USA (Steps to the Beach at Dillon Beach) View Map
Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 13-14)
This home is located about 200 feet from the beach in Dillon Beach. It is NOT way up on a hill where if the fog rolls in you won't be able to see anything, or where the wind can get pretty strong, or on the edge of a scary bluff. Feel secure that your kids are safe as those cliffs at Dillon Beach can be pretty dangerous. This home is a very easy short level walk to the beach. It has a beautiful unobstructed ocean view. The Dillon Beach sunsets from the dining table or the decks are incredible. A large front deck on the lower level offers a great place for the entire family to sit and view the ocean together. Pull up a chair, kick your feet up on the wall and take in the view. You're almost guaranteed to see a whale, sea lion, otter, or some sea life here at Dillon Beach. Up stairs is a deck looking over the ocean, the perfect early morning coffee spot.
The backyard is one of only a few homes in Dillon Beach with a fenced private yard. It includes a spa, BBQ, heater, and fire pit with 6 to 8 chairs that can sit around the fire so everyone can enjoy the local fresh local Dillon Beach BBQ'd oysters together. After a day on the beach there is nothing like a good hot tub soak in our spa with a lounge seat and tons of jets. Seats 6 comfortably or 8 if you really like each other. The backyard has a large deck and brick patio. The garden is really cute with old barn wood fencing and sea side relics all around. Has the feel of old Dillon Beach.
The house was remodeled last year. Granite counter tops throughout, stone floors and showers/bath enclosure. All first class. New hard wood pergo floors, all new stainless steel appliances, and a TV in each room. The entire house has been updated with lots of stone, new cabinets, fixtures, walls, windows, paint flooring, etc. No 1970's decor here. It's all brand new from the floor to the ceiling. There's a Plasma in the downstairs master BR and a 42" Plasma in the living area. Large open living area open to the kitchen and dining. Sit next to the cozy fireplace that turns on at a push of the remote, or watch a movie on the big screen HD plasma TV. The whole group can hang out together in the living area downstairs, or send the kids, or adults, upstairs to the game room where there's a 32"TV DVD & VCR player, Game Cube, Foosball Table, Poker table, and closet full of games.
This home was oringinally owned by the Keegan family that developed the Oceana Marin subdivision in Dillon Beach. As the original developer, he had first pick of all of the lots in this part of Dillon Beach. This was the location he picked which is why we call it the # 1 location in Dillon Beach. The home has several very old large cypress trees all around it that envelope the backyard. There is just no better atmosphere for relaxation.
The perfect place for a family reunion or annual get together. You'll love Dillon Beach, not only for it's own amenities, but for it's central location to dozens of awesome places to go. Bodega, Marshall, Occidental, Sebastpol, Jenner, Point Reyes, Tomales Bay, Marin, Sonoma, etc. The beach is called "Safe Beach" by the locals. The beach at Dillon Beach in front of this home is about 3 miles of sand all the way South to the mouth of the Tomales Bay. North up the beach is tide pools and rocky cliffs. Go surf fishing, beach combing, boogie boarding, surfing, or rent a boat at Lawsons Landing in Dillon Beach and go crabing or clamming. They actually catch dozens of 20lb. plus halibut in the bay every year. Explore Pt. Reyes, and stop and get fresh Oysters from the world famous oyster farmers in Marshall known as Hog Island Oyster Co. or Tomales Bay Oysters. Nick's Cove, just a 5 minute drive from Dillon Beach is open and has been featured on Travel and in Sunset Magazine. The Dillon Beach general store is walking distance as is the Dillon Beach Cafe open for breakfast lunch and dinner.
I visited Dillon Beach 18 years ago. I didn't even know it existed. I fell in love with it and hope to retire here soon and become a Dillon Beach Local.

Map & Owner's Profile
Dillon's Sea Castle, Dillon Beach,# 1 Location in Dillon Beach
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Dillon Beach
My wife introduced me to Dillon Beach about 20 years ago. We started camping here about 4 or 5 times a year since then. We love this place. There is literally nothing like it anywhere. It is virtually the same as it was 100 years ago. The beach is as nice as any beach I've been on. The sea life is abundant. Deer roam throughout the neighborhood unafraid. We just decided we had to have a home here. My oldest son is in the Coast Guard and was stationed here for about a year and a half which was very convenient. He grew up spending vacation time here and just couldn't leave. My other two boys also love this area. They look forward to every trip we make here. And our two miniature Austrailian Shepards love the dog friendly beach. Not many of those left in California. It is the perfect family vacation spot.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our home was built in 1968 by the original developer of Oceana Marin. The Keegan's chose this location to build their home over all of the possible locations in Dillon Beach. It has a beautiful unobstructed view of the ocean. It is down low so it is a short easy walk to the beach and below the fog when it rolls in, yet it isn't on the edge of the bluffs leaving one to worry about erosion or children's safety. It has a private fenced backyard with a spa, fire pit, BBQ redwood deck, and a garden. It is surrounded by cypress trees that umbrella the backyard creating a truly unique ambience. The home was completely remodeled when we bought it. Literally rebuilt from the ground up and the studs out. All first class amenities from granite counters, hard wood floors, new appliances, new Plasma TVs and big screen TVs throughout and even a foosball table. Sit at the dining table and gaze out of the two giant bay windows that look out on to the ocean and the Bodega Headlands. There is truly no better way to relax, unwind, and enjoy the ones you're with than spending a week, or even a weekend here.
Premier restaraunt on the water with a pier and boat launch. Hog Island Oysters is the perfect spot to get your fresh live oysters to BBQ in our backyard.
Nearby is a locally owned and operated shooting range. Petaluma is full of antique stores and neat little restaraunts and bars.
100 year old bar and restaraunt, Great watering hole for locals and vacationers. We love the clam chowder
Lucas Warf restaraunt and sea food. Wine tasting, fresh fesh and crabs. The Tides restaraunt is where the movie "The Birds" was filmed.
Travel through the fern grottos on the Bohemian Highway and come out at this quaint little town. Local hotel has a fantastic restaraunt and bar with outdoor seating.
At the mouth of the Russian River, gaze out at the ocean and watch the Sea Loins sun bathing on the beach.
Shops, bar and farmers market. Nice drive along the Tomales Bay. On the way pass by the Tomales bay Oyster Co., also a great place to pick up locally grown oysters.
Owner's Map of Dillon Beach
My wife and I both grew up and still live in Sacramento with two of our sons. She was from Elk Grove and I was from Carmichael. Now we live in Granite bay. Our third son is in the Coast Guard stationed in Virginia on a Cutter. I own a magazine that is distributed in Sacramento & Placer Counties called Home Improvement & Remodeling Magazine. It has been in business now for 12 years. Prior to that I was a commercial developer with Lukenbill Enterprises, acting CFO, which was the managing general partner of the Sacramento Kings from 1984 to 1996 while I was there. I have bought and fixed up homes all of my life. This one was quite a challenge and turned out awesome. One of my prouder achievements.
