Stonehill Cottage was completed in 2007 and is perched over the ocean in the secluded development of Kilmarnock Head near St Andrews-by-the-Sea. We have 2300 sq ft of indoor living space, and another 600 sq ft of screened, covered or open decking. Stonehill cottage has been described by our guests as - a coastal gem, relaxing, incredible, a piece of heaven, inspirational, idyllic, spectacular, breathtaking, and on occasion, foggy!
Relax in the great room with glass right to the 10' ceiling. Gather around the huge open wood burning fireplace on the main level, or the ceramic cast iron propane stove downstairs in the expansive family room. Choose a hardcover book from the library and tuck into the window seat. Take in an HD movie or concert DVD in the family room, play one of our board games, listen to music in any of four speaker locations inside and out, or surf the web on our wireless network.
Our gourmet kitchen is completely equipped with stainless appliances and a polished maple island - you can prepare everything from steamed lobster, to grilled fish or steak on the outside BBQ, to brewing expresso and capuccino. The kitchen is fully stocked with a wide array of spices,condiments, coffees and teas.
Move your retreat outdoors, in white wicker on the screened porch with ceiling fan, or have breakfast on the end to end glass rail deck. Wave to the lobstermen checking their traps, or watch our resident bald eagles and ospreys soar. Hike right out the door on Kilmarnock's trails, stopping at one of the ponds, the picnic area, or continue to the mountain top for the best view in the county. Take long walks, or visit the secret cove beach to collect shells at low tide - all without getting into your car.
Sleeping accommodations on the main level include the master suite with king bed and private covered porch, and a second queen bedroom. Both access the luxuriously appointed ensuite with rainhead shower, clawfoot tub, and two sinks. The powder room is also close by, as is the fully equipped laundry room. All bedrooms are supplied with plush towels and luxury linens.
Downstairs the bright and spacious queen and twin/king rooms both look out to the ocean. They share a four-piece bath with a wonderful six-jet shower and have their own walkout on this level.
We have tried to make Stonehill an inspiring and relaxing retreat for ourselves and for our guests.

Why the Owner Chose St. Andrews
We have wanted to build a 'retreat' and future retirement home on the ocean for many years. We looked primarily in PEI and Nova Scotia but when we reached St Andrews and more specifically the site where Stonehill Cottage now sits, we knew our search was over. The setting is simply spectacular - quiet and secluded yet close to St Andrews and a wide area of vacation activities.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We designed the home ourselves, so it gives us everything we could ask for. The setting at Kilmarnock Head is incredible and the views are amazing. There is great hiking right out the door of the cottage. We are so relaxed when we are here and we hate to leave! Where else on the Canadian Atlantic coast can you drive to in one day from Ontario or the northeastern US?
Owner's Map of St. Andrews
We are a couple in our late 50's with two grown daughters who are 'semi retired'. Most of the year we live on a farm near Port Perry, Ontario. We get back to Stonehill as often as we can but our visits are never often enough or long enough. In the future, we hope to be at Stonehill for longer periods, but for now it just makes sense to share Stonehill Cottage with others who also appreciate a seaside vacation.

September 15, 2009 First Septemebr visit and it was wonderful-sunny days and cool nights. Kayaked to Hospital Island! Lots of bald eagles and ospreys swooping by the deck, even saw porpoises in the Bay. Can't wait to get back to see the fall colours John & Pauleen Home, Uxbridge Ontario

July 20, 2009 Stonehill Cottage was the most beautiful place we stayed on our tour of the Maritimes. We loved the house, the view, St. Andrews town, the walks on the shore, the restaurants, we are only disappointed that our stay was so short. Somehow, we intend to return next year and spend a longer time to get a full appreciation of your Maritime shoreline hideaway. We also intend to let our other friends around the world know what a gem your coastal home is for a vacation. The cleanliness, accommodations and the amenities were perfect. Aug 16-23, 2008Ideally situated to view the ocean - from every room! So quiet and serene, just the occasional birds and boats. We had a truly wonderful stay - though we would hesitate in calling it a 'cottage', for a palace it is---!
