Palm Springs at its best

Every year my family travels for Christmas and some years are better than others when it comes to our destinations and our destination homes, but this year was perfect. Part of it was the sunny 70º days but mostly it was the home that was the perfect setting for those sunny 70º days. This home is at the end of a street so it's perfectly private. It's in a very comfortable, beautiful, architecturally interesting and walkable neighborhood making it ideal for the daily strolls with the dog. In fact, the home is even walking distance to town when we wanted to go in for some margaritas after a morning spent poolside. The bedrooms were comfortable. The fireplace was easy to use. The grill had a full tank of propane at the ready. It only has two drawbacks – a shortage of towel racks in the bathroom and the lack of counter space in the kitchen. But to be fair, we were there at Christmas and thus were preparing a Christmas feast and could have greatly used an island or something, but if you don't plan on doing a lot of cooking you'll never notice. It was exactly as I thought it would be from the photos, while my father commented that the photos didn't do it justice. He said it was far nicer than pictured. I think he was referring to the wonderful spacious feeling of the living room/dining room/sitting room that was the entire back portion of the house. It's not easy to convey that feeling in a photo. Charlie, the property manager, was more than helpful and able to answer any questions I had - though he was so thorough that we had very few questions. We usually travel to someplace new each year, but I wouldn't be surprised if this home wasn't suggested as early as next year for our next Christmas destination.

I loved the house, which is simple, clean, mid-century modern, interesting and tasteful...and updated just the right amount, though a music system to plug in an iphone would be a good addition. The location is amazing, backed right up against the desert and mountains. And the property manager was relaxed, available, professional, accommodative, and pleasant. We had a great stay.
