This home is on Lake Harris and the Harris Chain of Lakes!
The Harris Chain, with its tens of thousands of acres of lakes and wetlands, represents the headwaters of the Ocklawaha River, the major river draining central Florida. Lakes such as Lake Beauclaire, Lake Dora, Lake Eustis, Lake Griffin, Lake Harris and Lake Yale with their desirable natural resources provide tourists and the citizens of Florida with diverse recreational activities. The lakes lead to the Saint John's River, the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
The popular and historic Mount Dora area is only fifteen minutes away. Mount Dora merchants invite you to shop their quaint downtown boutiques and antique shops. Bicycle, fish, or water ski on Lake Dora, golf, and dine in their fine restaurants.
Not too far from all of the activities the beautiful state of Florida has to offer, yet comfortably away from the crowds. Centrally located, approximately one and a half hours to spend a day on the Ocean Beach or in the opposite direction, a day Gulf side.
Tavares is often referred to as the "hub" of Lake County in Central Florida. Not only in location but in business, government and culture as well. This small, charming town is surrounded by the gently rolling hills and numerous lakes of Lake County. Attractions abound in the area, along with country scenery and fresh air - making it a very enjoyable escape from city life.
Children love visiting Uncle Donald’s Farm where you can meet adorable farm animals up close, or the Amazing Exotics Education Center which has more than 300 exotic and endangered animals on view. The Trout Lake Nature Center has picnicking, hiking and environmental education opportunities, and you can be a cowboy for a day at Fiddler’s Green Ranch, where National Mounted Police horses are trained. Eighteen beautiful golf courses are located near Tavares, and wine-tasting tours are available at Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards.
The town of Tavares is host to the annual "Downtown Fall Festival" at the end of October, and the "Light Up Celebration", usually held in late fall. All the peace and relaxation of the countryside - just a short drive to the excitement of Orlando.

Couldn't ask for anything nicer; owner was very good to deal with -- neighborhood quiet and tranquil. We had out boat with us -- easy to dock right at the home or just plain fish from the pier.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

I was very surprised with this house. My wife and I have stayed in several places in the Tavares/Mt Dora area and we will definitely return to this house in the future. It was quiet, with a great view of the lake from the house and the dock. We brought our boat and was able to leave it tie it up on the dock. Convenient!!! Very close to local stores and restaurants. The inside was a treat. It must have been recently renovated. Flat screen tv in each bedroom, new bathrooms, hardwood floors, new kitchen. Can't wait to come back for more peace and quiet time. Pricing was very good as well for what you get.

We were pleasantly surprised to find this property even more inviting than it appears in the photos. Very clean and well cared for. It is off the beaten path but shopping and restaurants are only minutes away. Several restaurants are accessable by boat. We would recommend this home if you enjoy fishing, boating, birdwatching or just relaxing and watching the beautiful sunsets over the lake which can be seen from the dock or from inside. The owners were kind and helpful and returned our deposit within the alloted time. My only suggestion would be to furnish a copy of the TV channel listings and garbage pick-up days. I look forward to returning in the fall.
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
