Nancy, thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful and comfortable home during our short weekend stay for my niece's wedding. Your place exceeded our expectations. The decor is so warm and welcoming. The flowers and landscaping around the property are amazing. We had a fun 15 min walk on the trail from the house to the ocean - wonderful memories made. We recommend "Eggheads" for breakfast in Fort Bragg for their excellent omelets and french toast. Will definitely stay again!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind words in appreciation of Quail Ranch. I love it here, too, and can't imagine living anywhere else. I thoroughly enjoy decorating the house and gardens, viewing the wildlife and meeting such interesting people from all over the world. It's a wonderful life!

A friend and I had the good fortune to stay at this wonderful home for 4 lovely days in Sept. It was welcoming, charming, very comfortable and the proximity to the lake and the ocean was exactly what we were looking for. We walked out to the ocean every morning and then down that gorgeous coastline that goes forever. The house had everything we wanted and was so clean and full of interesting art and books. Beds were great and looking out over the gardens to the ocean every morning was heaven. Don't miss Eggheads for breakfast, Mendo Bistro for dinner, the Purple Rose for Mexican food and great margaritas, the Mendocino Chocolate Co. So many good restaurants. My favorite of all was the Mendo Cafe in Mendocino. Worth the short drive. There are so many fine hikes in the area, I won't recall them all, but Jughead Beach and MacKerricher are highlights. Nancy welcomed us graciously and answered all our questions and of course, Shiloh checked in on us often. If I am fortunate enough to return to this beautiful area, I would want to return to Quail Ranch. I highly recommend it!

Writing down our thoughts about our stay here at Quail Ranch reminds me of the joy we have had staying here, but also brings some sadness because we must leave this wonderful place. We have been surrounded with your wonderful art, personal pictures of the people, animals and places that you love and because of the warm and loving surroundings, our stay here was exactly what we were looking for....a place to find peace, relaxation and a place to re-energize us. We plan on returning.

Nancy....Quail Ranch is now on our favorite-places-to-stay list. The location is perfect with the close proximity to the lake, ocean, forests and meadows which support a great diversity of birds, amphibians, mammals and flora. We've seen the following birds: Osprey, robins, goldfinch, greater scaup, shearwater, ravens, black phoebe, crows, warblers, kinglets, black birds, towhee, oyster catchers, scoters, downy woodpeckers, savannah sparrows, wild turkey, pee wee, Calif Quail , mallards, Canadian geese, mourning doves, turkey vultures, great egrets and a mated pair of Swainson's hawks. We saw dozens of harbor seals and their pups hauled up on the rocks at Laguna Point. We've been coming to Mendocino for decades but this is our first stay at Quail Ranch. It won't be our last! Favorite walks: Lake Cleone, Van Damme State Park, Russian Gulch and Jughandle. Of course, there is the Mendocino Headlands walk and Belinda Point and Laguna Point. The Mendocino Botanical Garden is always a treat. Wildflowers are so plentiful and huge after this rainy winter. Some we identified: Douglas Iris, milkmaids, Indian paint brush, California poppies, forget me nots, Queen Anne's Lace, Lupin and ceanothus. The Rhododendrons are in peak blooming season at the Botanical Garden. So much to look at, see and do. And we still have a few days left to enjoy. This has been a perfect vacation and a most needed rest from all the city noise and frenetic pace. One of the best restaurants in the town of Mendocino is The Moosse Cafe on Kasten. Serve lunch and dinner. Check to see that they are open. Fort Bragg: Taka's Grill..excellent sushi (very fresh).

Despite the wintery weather, we had a very nice Christimas weekend. We saw many animals and loved feeding the sheep Cheerios! Your western decor provides a new discovery around every corner. You're quite the artist and we appreciate the Cristmas decorations as well. I keep thinking what a pleasant place you've created to escape the hussle of the city life. Wer'e already planning our next visit so we can enjoy the walk to the beach and lake.

Nancy, you're place is a pleasure! Thanks for sharing this beautiful slice of the north coast. Highlights have been walking around the Lake Cleone, walking out to the view the harbor seals and shorebirds, walking to Glass Beach, dining at Silvers, the Franklin Cafe, and the Mendocino Cafe, and relaxing in this amazing home. We have enjoyed ourselves a great deal despite the rain and our dogs have been in doggie heaven. Thanks, we will return soon. Dorothy , Larry and Diane

Nancy, your exceptional home not only reflects the artist you are, It's also warm, and welcoming and so comfortable. Thank you for sharing it with us. Even Bailey was in doggy heaven with 3 fenced acres to explore, so many new smells and his first nose to nose encounter with sheep. Our days were early spring perfection; skies as blue as the ocean, sunshine splashed warmth, cool ocean breezes. At night, as a million stars glinted like diamonds on the black velvet sky, we drifted off to the relaxing rhythm of distant surf. When we think of Quail RAnch, it will be the treasure we found on the beautiful Mendocino coast. The Neals of Lake Almanor

Thank you for opening your home for us city lickers to enjoy. Quail Ranch is unique and so special and your artistic touch is everywhere. This is my 2nd stay here and the awe of all still mesmerizes me. Two years ago, I had just completed treatment for breast cancer and my dream was to come back to Mendocino and paint. Little did I know that staying here at Quail Ranch would be "icing on the cake". Actually it took the cake!

What a great home you have here at Quail Ranch! I loved every detail of your western decor. Your art is so interesting...the look on the faces of animals is just amazing. I felt so relaxed and at home here in your comfy home. The bed was great! All the comfy rooms gave me a great view of your beautiful property. I loved my little deer family that came every day. The hot water tub was so appreciated since I really beat my body up riding horseback for hours each day. I just can't thank you enough and certainly will come again.

We had a wonderful weekend, even in the rain. After a cozy evening on the couch with the stove going and some good books, we did the "Avenue of the Giants" on Friday. It was beautiful! The womens grove was a picnic spot for lunch. Saturday we took a blustery walk out to Pt Cabrillo Lighthouse. How lucky to hit a weekend when they were doing tours of the lighthouse and lens. Very interesting! "Home" to Quail Ranch to change into dry clothes then it was off to downtown Fort Bragg. Scored a few finds before a DIVINE dinner at The Restaurant. Many Thanks.

Thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. The minute we pulled up, we felt comfortable. Sitting on the deck at various times of the day, well, you couldn't ask for anything better. We'd be greeted by Toki, daily with Little Sheep in tow at times. It felt like home. We saw a mother deer with her two fawns several evenings. What a sight. Ashley experienced her first horse back ride. I suspect it won't be her last. We had wonderful chowder, awesome sunsets and terrific weather. We have definitely been blessed.

My whole family had such a cool time here! We loved seeing Toki and Teddy Bear in the morning and the sheep were awesome. My little brother said he wanted to stay here forever! I don't blame him- it rocks here! The western theme and your unbelievable art work caught all of our attention and couldn't stop looking at all of your decorations (I love the sheep with the blue hat!). Thank you soooo much for letting us spend our vacation at your cozy home. I can't wait to come back! Thanks again
