Born and raised in San Pedro and return as frequently as I can to visit Mum and my family. Margie has captured the essence of the small harbor town I grew up in within all of her cottages. All of her cottages are unique in decor, comfortable, conveniently located close to the beach area and downtown. Love to take our morning walks to Point Fermin and come back to coffee on her delightful balconies. Always sad to leave and anxious to return !!!Owner response: Thank you Sharon, always very happy to see you and your family. See you soon.

I stayed here for one week in August and loved every minute of it. The place itself is very comfortable and relaxing, and Margie the owner really pays a lot of attention to detail when it comes to the decor and quality of the items in the apartment and on the property as well. You really get a nice feeling the moment you walk up to the place. She is not kidding when she says just bring your laptop and clothes, as everything else you could possibly need is provided in the apartment. I loved that the place had a nice ocean breeze blowing through it, and I could get a nice whiff of the ocean when I stepped outside. It was also very conveniently located - you can walk down to the shore in San Pedro, or take a short drive to one of the other nearby beach towns (Redondo, Hermosa)...or hop on the freeway if you want to drive up to Hollywood or West LA. Margie the owner is also a very sweet and helpful person which made staying here that much better. I hope to be back in the future and will be spreading the word to friends and family that need a vacation rental or short-term place in the area.Owner response: Thanks Argun, It was great meeting you and Kathy. Come back again.

We stayed in the cottage for 8 days while visiting some wonderful LA-area sites. The cottage is clean and comfortable, and "MJ" is a warm and welcoming hostess. Everything you could need for a "home away from home" is provided--so much better than staying in a hotel, and much less costly. The cottages are in a pleasant residential neighborhood within walking distance of Cabrillo Beach (and its aquarium), Point Fermin Lighthouse park, the Paseo del Mar, and several really good places for breakfast or lunch--notably Rex's Cafe on Pacific. The 110 freeway, which begins in San Pedro, goes directly north through downtown LA and connects with just about all the other major thoroughfares. I highly recommend the cottage to anyone wanting to get to experience the real California!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Leslie for the compliment and an in depth description of the surrounding areas. I'm glad that you had a wonderful experience staying at my place. I hope to see you again.

Margie, Our vacation would of not been the incredible time it was if we chose other living arrangements. All the hardwork you have done to make these homes comfortable and peaceful shows. Thank you for all your kindness and stories! If you are on the fence about renting this property. Just commit. You won't regret it! These cozy little cottages offer so much more than this ad can ever represent. From the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in to fresh home grown veggies and fruit that Margie generously shares! If you're lucky you'll even get to meet Fonzy the neighbors sweet cocker spaniel! Happy vacationing!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Margie was such a great hostess! When we arrived, she showed us around and gave us directions to local sites and beaches. There's a great little beach a few blocks away, along with a small aquarium. Redondo beach is not too far away. The cottage is super cute, clean and comfortable. We slept great and hope to visit again. Maybe next time in a 2 bedroom. Thanks again Margie!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Your welcome Rebekah. It was a pleasure meeting you and your family. See you soon.

My husband and I are from Colorado and were adopting a baby in the Los Angeles area. We needed a place to stay awaiting our daughter's birth and for about a week afterward until paperwork had cleared and we were allowed to take our new baby home to Colorado. There could not have been a more perfect place for us to spend our first couple of days with our newborn! MJ was so fexible since we were unsure of our travel dates, and was so welcoming and helpful! When we showed up, she even had a stroller for us. Our daughter will grow up hearing stories about her first days in California and her new friend MJ. We will definitely be back! PS- be sure to take a walk to the Pacific Diner for an amazing crabmeat omlette and a chat with Vicki and the gang!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: It was great meeting you both, and Olivia. What a great experience to be a part of new life born to the happiest couple in San Pedro. It was my pleasure to have you start your family here in Point Fermin, San Pedro. Your happiness was contagious. See you again soon. MJ.

I was moving to California from Florida, and needed a place for a few months. I was really worried after looking at most other places that had long minimum stays, no cable, no laundry, no internet, etc. that I would be locked into a something I didn’t want, or would be spending all my time setting up utilities that I’d only need for a few months. Then I saw this place, and everything changed. The motto was “just bring your clothes and your laptop,” and that was exactly what I needed! I was a little nervous booking from Florida, but after talking to MJ for a while on the phone I felt very comfortable. MJ sent me a bunch of emails about the area, attractions, and even the best way to get to my office in El Segundo for work. And the place is gorgeous! It has great decorations, beautiful floors, and modern appliances. MJ and this place have really helped me out with this move – I would highly recommend these properties. You will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Matt. You and Traci are great guests. Had a lovely time BBQing on Chinese New Year 2/3/2011. Year of the Rabbit. It's going to be the best year ever! Thanks for extending your stay by a couple of months. I know you really like your stay at the cottage. Best of luck to you and Traci in your new house and jobs.

Wonderful 4th of July in San Pedro

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for four days over the 4th of July weekend. We arrived from the East Coast to attend a wedding. The cottage was wonderful - spacious anough to entertain a few friends during the evening and cook for the wedding reception during the day. Margie was a very gracious host during our stay and never said a word about out takeover of the cottage and yard with in & out food/shopping, cooking, friends, etc. It was a real pleasure to be at the peaceful cottage and in San Pedro, great location. The front yard smelled of beautiful flowers and the neighborhood was great to walk to see the flowers and foilage as well. Only downside I can think of is that finding parking in front of cottage can be rough sometimes (especially on the 4th!) but we managed within a block most of the time. The wedding was super great, we returned home safely, and the deposit check was returned timely. Doesn't get much better than that.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Yes, 4th of July is the only time parking is an issue, since the fireworks is in our backyard (Cabrillo beach or Fort MacArthur Air Force base). It's the biggest party of the year, and everybody is here to enjoy it.

We stayed at the Palm Tree cottage in mid-June for one week and wished we could have stayed longer. We have family and friends in the area but wanted a place to call home, albeit for a very short time, and we definitely felt at home there. Its location is ideal - on quiet residential street with easy access to several freeways, within walking distance to the water, and with markets and other conveniences within a short drive. The cottage is furnished with taste (a mix of the old and modern) and has a beautiful and original from the '20s wood floor. Having a washer/dryer and fully equipped kitchen saved us some money too. With the windows open, there was a nice, fresh breeze throughout the house. Margie, the owner, was always available when needed but was never intrusive. Thank you for having us!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
