Hale Malino is a relaxing and stylish 1100 sq. ft. luxury condo located in the Palm Villas at Mauna Lani. It has been professionally decorated with comfortable Asian and modern furniture, and original artwork from local Big Island artists Patrick Rankin, Darrell Hill, Gary Ackerman, Dietrich Varez and Brad Lewis. There are also artworks by internationally known artists Andy Warhol, Gregory Colbert, Eva Zeisel and the Bouroullec Brothers.
Hale Malino is equipped with top-of-line items throughout. The gourmet kitchen has GE Monogram appliances; All-Clad stainless steel cookware; Henkel knives; a Waring Blender; a Cuisinart food processor; and plenty of porcelain dishes, cutlery and glassware. On the lanai, the Thermador BBQ grills fresh fish and Big Island beef to perfection. The media center has a 32" Sony Bravia HDTV, a BOSE stereo for CDs and iPods, and free WiFi internet access. All the sheets and towels are 100% cotton, with hypo-allergenic goose down or foam pillows. Every effort has been made to appoint our condo in quiet, comfortable, understated luxury.
The Mauna Lani Beach Club is a 15-minute walk away, on a paved trail that leads through an Historic Preserve and ancient fishponds. Enjoy excellent snorkeling at this easily accessible bay, with lifeguard, chaise lounges and clubhouse. Free private beach parking is also available for guests.
Across the street is the Mauna Lani Health and Fitness Club, with tennis courts, a fully equipped gym, and a 25-meter lap pool. Next door is the world-famous Mauna Lani Spa, with its open-air Hawaiian village setting, perfect for a soothing "Fire and Ice" massage.
The Shops at Mauna Lani are also within walking distance, with restaurants, a coffee shop, and a gourmet supermarket. Foodland Farms carries freshly caught fish, grass-fed Big Island beef, locally grown fruits and vegetables, as well as prepared foods. Since it's open until 11PM, you can spend the day at the beach or Scuba diving without a care, and still easily whip up a great dinner.
All of these amenities are within walking distance from the Palm Villas, making it a most convenient location. Bordered by an Historic Preserve and the Mauna Lani North Course, it is also one of the most secluded complexes in the resort. With only 9 buildings and 44 units spread over 6 acres, it is the lowest density condo complex at Mauna Lani. And our condo is perfectly situated within the Palm Villas. Far from the street, surrounded by lava outcroppings and lush landscaping, Hale Malino is a perfect place to unwind in comfort, privacy and style.
Mauna Lani Resort was named one of "World's Top Earth-Friendly Getaways" by Conde Nast Traveler magazine in their January, 2008 issue. The award winning Big Island green resort was recognized as one of the world's top luxury, eco-friendly beach destinations, and is the only beach resort in the U.S. named in the collection. Our home has been furnished with responsibly forested hardwood furniture, natural fibers, and energy-saving appliances. There is built-in air-conditioning, but the natural cross-breeze combined with the shady location keep the condo naturally cool. The common areas, the entry and lanai are tiled to also keep everything clean and cool.
This is our home away from home, and we love spending time here soaking in the beauty of the Big Island. We have tried to pay close attention to every detail to make Hale Malino as comfortable and relaxing as possible. We hope to share it with you as well.

Elegant, Designer Palm Villa Condo @ Eco-Friendly Mauna Lani
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Palm Villas
"You can walk to the beach." It's true. We looked at many other properties. When debating our various real estate choices with a close friend of mine, she kept repeating: "From the Palm Villas, you can walk to the beach." Enough said.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
The Fire and Ice massage at the Mauna Lani Spa; the cold towels after a round of golf on either the North or South Course; shore diving in Puako; sunset MaiTai's at the CanoeHouse; the fresh cinnamon buns at Foodland Farms; the Huli-Huli Chicken and fresh fish from Kawaihae Harbor.
The ML Beach club is a sandy cove lined with palm trees and lounge chairs. It offers easy entry, a healthy coral reef and abundant tropical fish just offshore.
Enjoy championship tennis courts, a 25 meter lap pool, and a full workout facility. Have a "Fire and Ice" massage at the Spa. Daily or monthly rates apply.
Foodland Farms is open from 5AM - 10PM making grocery shopping convenient. Tommy Bahamas (go for the 9PM Happy Hour at the bar with 1/2 priced pu-pu's), Monstera Sushi, and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk along a paved trail through this Nature Preserve and shady fishponds. Reward yourself with a lilikoi margarita at the Beach Club for your efforts.

I just wanted to thank you for letting us stay at Hale Malino; it was perfect. We loved the location and it was furnished beautifully. My husband liked the artwork so much he picked up his own prints by D. Varez at the Volcano Art Gallery (one of the humuhumu... and one of an erupting volcano). It was also nice to have the books on the tropical flowers, trees and reef fish so we could look up the flowers and fish we'd seen during the day. We tried to take good care of the place and leave it as we found it. We just got back on Sunday (we spent a few days in the Volcano area) and already we miss our leisurely mornings with papaya & lime juice on the lanai of Hale Malino. Mahalo, Gayleen

What a wonderful vacation we had while staying at the Palm Villas condominium. The condo is decorated like a showroom and yet is incredibly warm and inviting. When we arrived it was so clean that we thought we may have been the only visitors to ever visit. The view is breathtaking with lava rock and such beautiful flowers and greenery that we walked around and took pictures to frame in our home in Chicago. We had so many wonderful excursions and would like to let you know our thoughts. The first day we enjoyed a visit to the onsite Foodland Farms to fill up our refrigerator. The staff there are so nice and helpful and it had everything we needed. We then spent the afternoon at the beautiful onsite pool-so relaxing and beautiful. We recommend highly the Canoe House restaurant at the onsite hotel. We enjoyed our Blue Hawaiian helicopter ride, but thought it would be more up close to the volcanoes and waterfalls. We enjoyed Volcano National Park-worth the drive!Beware-the eyes can sting from the sulfer and it is very cold at this altitude. We took an incredible rolling hills ride to the town of Hawi to experience some real local stores and food-Sushi Rock is fabulous!! We ended our visit at the Island Breeze Luau. We would not do it again, but it is nice to go one time to really experience a full Luau. Do not expect a fancy evening-you sit with other people at cheap tables with plastic seats and plastic cups with water and kool-aid pitchers. The buffet food was not great, but, once again, nice to really see what the full array of Hawaiian food is. The host was very cheesy, but the cast of dancers were great and the best part was the fire dancer!! A great stay, a new love for the incredibly changing landscape on the Big Island and a fabulous tan to take back with us to Chicago.

We just spent a fabulous week here at the Hale Malino. What a lovely condo in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed the trail through the Lava Field and had some very good snorkelling at the Beach Club. We appreciated all the ammenities such as the cooler backpack, snorkel gear, towels, etc. The condo itself was beautiful and very well appointed. We like the art chosen for the various rooms. And the location of the condo within the complex was perfect! We would definitely come back again. Thank you.

Hale Malino far surpassed our expectations. We appreciated the dining and activity suggestions. The location of the Palm Villas is perfect - never tired of the stroll down "the lane" and through the fishponds of Mauna Lani to the Beach. Mahalo, The Myers

Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful place. We loved your home, and enjoyed everything you offered. Amazing selections of CDs, and books, convenient backpacks, beach mats, etc. This was a perfect place for us (Mom and Dad, and my husband and I) to explore the Big Island for the first time. We will come back! Mahalo

Dear Greg, We are back again, this is my first day in the office, and I can’t say I like it. After 2 weeks on the north shore, 1 week on the Big Island, and a short stopover in Los Angeles, life is hard as usual. But we had a great time, anyway, both Oahu and Hawaii presenting their best: big waves at the Bonzai pipeline (14-18 feet, not for swimming) and lava excitement, as well as the peace of Mauna Kea beach. What a special experience - very impressive! As was your apartment: we have never had such a superb place to live in. Everything well thought-out, aesthetic, comfortable, generous, marvelous. It will take some time to get there again, but I can’t imagine a better place. You were absolutely successful in creating an atmosphere of well-being and luxury in a world of its own. Outstanding. Congratulations. Thank you for Hale Malino. Helmut
