Located on the beautiful island of Eleuthera, Seaglass Cottage is a comfortable one-bedroom cottage situated 200 steps from the Atlantic Ocean. If you like the idea of vacationing on the edge of the Atlantic and "out in the country" this is the place for you. The rate is $650 per week, year-round. The living space comprises about 700 square feet, and there is an additional patio, front deck, and west deck.
This is a genuine authentic beach house. Owned by two artists, don't expect to find anything fancy or trendy! Instead, the house is decorated with attractive hand-built furniture, plenty of art work, and beach treasures crafted into unique items. The walls are cypress and the floors are Brazilian walnut. This house was one of the first homes completed in Rainbow Bay and is constructed of lots of glass. You can see the stars while you lie in the bed at night and watch the moon rise while you're sitting in the living room.
To help keep our island home and yard in good shape, our gardener lives on the property in separate accommodations. He is employed by many of the homeowners in Rainbow Bay and is completely unobtrusive and extremely considerate of guests' privacy. Described by one guest as having a 1,000 watt smile and a great person to know, he is there to help you should you need assistance with anything. Our caretaker - a wonderful lady - lives in Palmetto Point and is just a phone call away should you need her.
The Rainbow area is serene and beautiful. The water is clear and beautiful, the sand is soft and pink, and because this part of the island is so skinny, it's just a matter of minutes hopping from one side to the other. If the Atlantic is rough, swim at Rainbow Beach - 5 minutes max. by car; ten minutes to walk.
There are five beaches in the Rainbow area, all within walking distance. Here you will find Smuggler's Beach, Little Twin Beach, Come and Go Beach, the beach at Rainbow Bay, and our beach, Hidden Beach. On calm days, snorkeling at Hidden Beach is excellent. Here, you will find interesting underwater terrain, pretty tropical fish, an occasional sea turtle or octopus, and flounder.
Located between Alice Town and James Cistern, grocery stores, restaurants, and gas stations are within a ten minute drive.
Seaglass Cottage is comfortable and homey - a great place to return to after a day of exploring. You'll find the atmosphere cozy and relaxing. Enjoy our eclectic collection of CD's while you have happy hour on the deck or enjoy dining with the Atlantic waves as the backdrop. The owners have provided plenty of lamps for nighttime reading, a comfortable rope hammock on the west deck, and deck chairs for relaxing on the front side of the house. Additionally, you will find paperback novels, guest journals, and other reading material on the bookcase in the master bedroom. A guidebook is provided which should answer all of your questions about the house. It provides telephone numbers for businesses on the island and advises guests on such matters as near-by grocery stores and medical clinics. There is a wall safe for storing your valuables.
To get to Seaglass Cottage, fly to the Governor's Harbour Airport (GHB). There, you can pick up a rental car or take a taxi eight miles to the house. Driving directions can be found on our personal Seaglass Cottage website. See link (below) to visit our website.
If you are interested in having a memorable vacation at "Seaglass", please contact us via phone or email. Please check our online availability calendar and contact us to inquire about booking dates.
Our goal is provide guests with an 'authentic' and comfortable beach house for a real out-island experience. Since 2002, over 600 people have visited Seaglass Cottage - many of them honeymooners. Everything about this house makes you simply want to relax, unwind, and enjoy the island experience. Depart with a suntan, a bag of shells, and lots of great memories.
Enjoy your vacation!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2002
My husband and I purchased our home in Eleuthera after vacationing there for several years. We like 'fixer uppers' and happened to find a house that fit the bill perfectly. We also own a treehouse in South Carolina which we have been restoring for the last several years.
It is true that "Eleuthera is not for everyone", but it certainly is for us! Every single project and undertaking in Eleuthera has been done with excitement, determination, and joy, and we are delighted to be able to share our house with you. You won't find another house like it anywhere in the world.
Happy travels!!
Why the Owner Chose Rainbow Bay
We fell in love with the Bahamas in the 90's and decided that we simply must own a little slice of paradise there. We love the island for its beauty, colors, and people. We are fortunate to have many friends on the island whom we look forward to seeing each visit.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We love the sound of the ocean and the wonderful Atlantic breeze. The house has a great floorplan and the comfy feeling of being at home. The area is dark at night so the stars are bright and lovely. Also, the beach is very close so we constantly walk back and forth between the house and the water's edge. Seaglass hunting is our favorite pasttime so we enjoy bringing in the 'catch of day' from all of the beaches in the area. The Atlantic breeze is a great asset, as is the view of the turquoise water. My favorite aspect of the house is the feeling that you're the only person alive on the planet. It's just you and the ocean.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks in the cottage May 2011. Being from the Northeast and living on the water this little gem was right up our alley. The house has everything you would need as if it was your own home. The house is very comfortable, and cozy.. With all the windows open after a day of exploring, the wind is awsome blowing throught the house as you enjoy your favorite drink and sift through all your treasures in the spaciouse kitchen. (of coarse listening to one of the many island Cd's in the house). The people in Eleuthera are very freindly and laid back, we made many freinds during our stay. Charter fishing with Captain "Z", whome we meet at the Rainbow Inn, in my opinion the best food on the island. What else can i say except we loved Eleuthera and the Seaglass Cottage so much we booked two weeks in May 2012.......... Can't wait !!!!! Marc & Jackie

My wife and i spend a week at the Seaglass Cottage on Feb 2011. The experience was fantastic! The house it's beautiful and perfect for a couple looking for an escape from everything. Kitchen it's fully equipped with everything you may need and more. You can cook there like you do in your own home. The living room is Big and has greatest views of the Atlantic. We loved to make our favorites drinks and enjoy watching and listening the ocean. The Master bedroom (and the bed) are huge and of course it's plenty of windows so you never miss the ocean view. It's really much much better than the pictures. The house is centrally located so you can explore all the beautiful beaches across the island and then come back to relax and chill in a perfect place. The owner was really easy to deal with and answered all the questions we had about the house, the place, food, car... everything. We really enjoyed the island, the lonely secluded beaches and specially the seaglass cottage. Very confy, functional, with all the appliances that one can need, and of course the views!!! It's a great place to enjoy and relax. A perfect vacation rental. If you find some grammar errors, please forgive my english. My first language is Spanish.

My BF & I spent a week at Seaglass cottage and we had a wonderful time, the house is perfect for a couple wanting a romantic getaway. The master bedroom has the most comfortable bed ever and great views of the ocean. There is a full bath, living room/kitchen area with plenty of room and the kitchen has everything you could want and more, even an ice cream machine! The house is decorated thru out in true island fashion with water color paintings, mosaics, decorative tiles, & mobiles of beach treasures and handmade furniture by the owners, making it a pleasure to either stay at home or come home after a day of exploring. If you want to stay at home and read a book there are many, also a BBQ and a wonderful deck with 4 adironak chairs and a table to match. Hidden beach is a short walk away and has great snorkeling and treasure hunting, across to the other side of the island is Rainbow beach a short 5 minute drive and the Rainbow Inn ( really good food) where Dr. Seabreeze may be playing, a must not miss. The cottage is centrally located for sightseeing and has the best gardener in the area, who will great you with one of the best and most welcoming smiles I have ever seen, he is a true gem. The price is certainly right for everything you get, like keeping candy from a baby, (which they don't need, you do). I highly recommend staying here for a true and special island getaway! Deb & Mark
