Awesome View Chalets W/ Hot Tubs- Alaska: Right Out the Window

Year Purchased: 2007

Why the Owner Chose Seward

The Kenai Peninsula has it all - mountians, rivers, lakes, ocean, glaciers, wildlife -everything you've come to Alaska to see and do. Gary grew-up camping, hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, rafting, canoing, skiing on the Kenai. These chalets were our favorite winter get-away on the Kenai - so we bought them.

The Unique Benefits at this Chalet

There is no comparable property on the Eastern Kenai that we've found. The location is awesomely beautiful- overlooking Trail Lake, surrounded by incredible mountians. And it's all right outside the picture windows. The chalets are constructed to take advantage of the locations, and are well appointed and beautifully decorated. The hot tubs are a bonus, and the privacy means you'll have peace and quiet if you want it.

Owner's Map of Seward

Were the Steeles- Gary, Treva, Jordyn & Justin. Three of us are life-long Alaskans. We love Alaska, and look forward to sharing our special piece of Alaska heaven with you.

Wonderful time at the Chalet! Beautiful view!

I took my family for a week long stay here. The Chalet was incredible and comfortable. We had 4 adults and 4 kids and still was quite roomy. Very convenient location, easy drive down to Seward and Cooper Landing. Drove to Homer one day, really beautiful drive. The property was very clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend this rental and would love to return. This site is an easy ride to fishing and hiking. Definitey go down to Seward for the Glacier cruise. We saw a brown bear crossing the highway in Cooper Landing and a black bear on our drive to Homer. Eagles everywhere! Incredible!!! Alaska, and this cabin were amazing.....

Owner response:Ritchie, Thanks for your endorsement! Glad you enjoyed the chalet and that it and your Alaska vacation lived up to your expectations. We're always glad to welcome folks back! You can spend a lifetime here and be amazed anew everyday! Best wishes, Gary and Treva

27 December 2009 We were so happy when we arrived at the Steller Jay Chalet for our Christmas Vacation and saw that not only is the house and setting gorgeous, but holiday decorations were out! We had a perfect, cheery Christmas and spent lots of time in the hot tub – what a treat! Thank you so much for the hospitality and for creating such a wonderful setting – we definitely will be back sometime. - Melissa, Bu, Carol and friends [Owners comment: Treva has continued the previous owner’s practice of decorating the chalets for each season. Glad you enjoyed them. Please DO come back again!]

Feb. 20, 2009 Drove in from Anchorage last night. Walked through the front door of the Steller Jay chalet and gasped in awe of its’ size and beauty. We left our concerns and everyday life somewhere on the 90 minute drive here…we woke to gorgeous sunny skies and one of the most spectacular views we’ve ever seen – and we’re longtime Alaskans!. Feb. 22, 2009 We sigh heavily as we pack for our short journey home. We have been seduced by the quiet solitude of this place. We intend to come back here again and again! Franks’ parents will love it and it would make a perfect retreat for Kamala’s co-workers (all registered nurses) [– Owners comment: Thanks for the journal entry Kamala and for bringing your co-workers down for a retreat. Hope you can make it back again soon.]

The chalet was the perfect place for our group of five adults. We enjoyed unbelievable weather. Some of us fished for red salmon in the Kenai/ Russian River area. We loved being able to cook our own salmon every night for dinner. We hiked around the lake part way and two of us hiked up the Carter Lake trail above treeline. Also hiked into exit Glacier after a fabulous nature/glacier boat trip with Kenai Fjords Tours. We enjoyed lounging in the hot tub or sitting on the deck and watching the light change on the mountains or float planes land on the lake. Thank you for providing such a delightful home in the mountains. - The Mygatt/MacCain/ Wilson family

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your beautiful chalet. The views are unbelievable. Everything is so nicely decorated and comfortable. You’ve thought of everything to make our stay truly relaxing and enjoyable. Today we went kayaking around Fox Island. It was raining, but we still had a lot of fun. Tomorrow we hope to hike Exit Glacier & Harding Icefield and relax at the chalet. Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality. - The Kaufman family

We had a great weekend here! It was exactly what we were looking for. The Sealife Center in Seward is cool - so is the waterfall. For those who don’t know, Kenai/Soldotna is not that far away either. This is a great hideaway, centrally located. Most of all the view is amazing here and the chalet is cozy. Thanks again. The Elkins Anchorage, AK (Note: The world-class fishing starts end of May)

Had a wonderful time staying at the chalet. Beautiful sunny days – highs in the upper 30’s, lows in the teens. went to Seward and took a day cruise. Ate halibut dinner at Thorns – a local bar. Spent another day in Soldotna/Kenai – hiked on trails in the Wildlife Refuge. Ate lunch at Sals Diner – yummy burgers on Sourdough Bread. Picked up some Alaska King Crab at Peninsula Seafood and cooked those at the chalet. Outstanding! Soaked in the hot-tub and had two wonderful nights of the Aurora Borealis. What incredible views out the living room window! Wonderful views, cozy cottage, great location, privacy – What a delightful place! Thanks for the hospitality! The Johnsons Arlington Heights, IL.

Gary and Treva, Just a short note to tell you that we really, really, really enjoyed our visit. You have a beautiful home in an incredible setting. We have been doing VRBO for many years and can honestly state that the Wild Rose Chalet was one of our favorite experiences. The home was clean, well equipped and in a perfect location! As I tell my friends, it was natures on steroids...fish were bountiful, moose/bear/eagles all over, hiking was great, & the hot tub hit the spot! The hosts, Bob and Judy, are wonderful couples that care about your property. It was a pleasure meeting them and your neighbor, Kyle (www.keeneyeanglers.com) David & Carrie Huerta (Erica, Alex and Aubrey too), Florida
