Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
My husband, David and I purchased this villa in 2007 and worked with an architect and creative contractor to completely renovate it. Each of our children has a favorite bedroomroom in the villa, which are all large enough to have their friends enjoy some of paradise with them. Our other home is outside Philadelphia, so we find both the summer as well as the winter in St Thomas to be devine by comparison to the cold and humidity. Owning this gorgeous home that catches the Caribbean trade winds has been a gift we love to share!
Why the Owner Chose Magens Bay
We came to St Thomas the first time as a graduation gift for our two middle children. We all fell in love with the water, temperatures, vistas, local people, and the peace we all felt. i remember my husband saying:"I bet if we lived here we would age more slowly." That was enough to get us to a real estate agent,Camille DeCosta of Newland Real Estate that day. Camille was born and raised on St Thomas (leaving only to be a model in Italy for 10 years). The first house she brought us to was this one. She told us it had THE most fabulous view on the entire island. However, the house needed so much work and we were so apprehensive about undertaking such an effort so far away from home that we continued to have Camille show us properties for 3 more years! After looking at EVERY single piece of land and villa in the USVI, we finally agreed with her original statement. It is easier to gut the inside of a structure, add to it, improve it, and ship a container of furniture from the states than it is to recreate the spectacular views that Nature created on this spot! The end result was a fantastic villa located on the very best spot in the Caribbean (and trust me, we checked them ALL out).
The Unique Benefits of this Villa
My husband has always been a sun lover with skin that tans and never burns. So people always laugh when I tell them I have to drag him kicking and screaming to the beach. Now the beach to which I am referrring is Magen's Bay (always listed on the Travel channel as one of the top 10 beaches because of its heart shape and over a mile of pure white sand and crystal clear water with no seaweed or rocks). So what is his problem?? He would much prefer to just sit on our pool deck and stare out at the panoramic views of Magen's Bay and the British Virgin Islands. Our property goes all the way down to the water with only trees between the villa and the water. With his iPod playing smooth jazz, a glass of wine, my cooking, and these vistas he is content not to move for literally weeks on end.
Most guests don't go to his extremes, but all have said their experience at our villa was truly the best vacation of their lives. The furnishings are warm yet elegant. The open floor plan allows a large group to still enjoy the same space. The bedrooms are uniquely decorated and very private. There are enough outdoor balconies, gardens, and decks that everyone can also get away for some peace and quiet whenever desired.

Million Dollar Home with Million Dollar Views!!!!!!!

This review is long overdue. We stayed at the Villa Panorama the week of January 16th - January 23rd. There were 10 of us (8 adults, 2 Children age 8). When we first arrived at the villa and Camille (personal concierge) opened the door all of our mouth's just dropped. We couldn't believe the elegance of the inside of the home. As Camille was showing us every room in the house we just couldn't believe how nice this home really is. It's evident that this home is worth more than a million dollars. Everything in the home is upscale with different themes in each room throughout the home. The bedrooms were spacious all with there own bathrooms and the views from these rooms were amazing. There is not a bad place in the home! We spent most of our time on the covered patio next to the swimming pool. The pool got plenty of use and I can still here our children yelling CANNONBALL every morning as they were jumping into the pool. The hot tub got plenty of use from the adults and again the view from the hot tub or the pool was amazing (overlooking Magens Bay). We all managed to pull ourselves away from the home to experience the island of St. Thomas. We did everything fom parasailing to jet ski's to snorkling (snorkling gear is provided at the house if you do not have your own) to fine dining, shopping and going clubbing at night. We all felt totally safe at the villa and in town. Beware of the 151 proof Rum! It will put you under the table and you cannot bring it back to the states. That being said we enjoyed every drop. We also cooked as everyone said in other reviews as dining out is very expensive. Take advantage of the barbecue grill and the other outdoor/patio (yes there are two patio's). Thanks to Jackie and her husband for a flawless experience. Thank you for opening up your beautiful home to us. It is something that we all will treasure for the rest of our lives. Please tell Camille thank you for everything. Without her we would have never found our way around town! We will definitely be going back. The next time it will be for two weeks! This is by far the best place to stay on the island of St. Thomas.

I already miss the fantastic views. Wow! Thank you so much Jackie, your house is lovely. We had a wonderful vacation while taking full advantage of this amazing villa. Please thank Camille and Anne. They welcomed us with smiles and laughter. The lemon grass and coconut milk Anne brought us was way 'above and beyond'. We will never forget out time in St. Thomas. Thank you.

Jackie, We had a wonderful time!! Your villa exceeded everyone's expectations! The views of Megan's Bay were just breath taking....We had everything we needed & more! My wife especially enjoyed the soft rain water showers..:). Camille was a big help upon arrival that Saturday, she met us at the grocery store where we loaded our weeks groceries in her 4runner & followed her to the villa...once there she gave us the grand tour explaining in detail everything we needed to know. We covered a lot of ground that week and at the end of each day it was very relaxing to come back to Villa Panorama....Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy St. Thomas in such a manner!! I recently spent a week at the villa and it was simply perfect! Despite having 7 people, there was still plenty of room for privacy and solitude. The bedrooms were great, with amazing views, and the views from the common areas and decks were simply breathtaking. The villa was spotless when we arrived, and the large kitchen made cooking meals for our crew, a breeze. The villa manager was great, and always available to answer any questions we had. The cleaning service came in mid-week, as did the pool service. All in all, this was an amazing week in paradise, and staying at The Panorama, made our time on the island perfect. side note--when you stay here, I recommend renting a vehicle with 4 wheel drive, as the villa is at the top of a mountain.

Just back from our family vacation at this villa overlooking Magen's Bay. When we first arrived my son made the comment, "I don't believe it. Am I being punked?" Well we were not being punked and the interior matched the exterior in beauty, spaciousness and upscale furnishing. All the reviews I read extol the gorgeous and expansive view of Magen's Bay. It is truly a magnificent view and I never grew tired of looking out over the balcony at the the bay while the sun and clouds put on a light show. Even the occasional afternoon shower was a pleasure - quick to come up and just as quick to dissipate. So much for the view - here're the other items which I never considered might be important in a rental of this type, but which turned out to be very important. All of the bedrooms are on separate levels and the construction is such that once you retreat to your bedroom with it's in-suite bath and private balcony, the activities and coming and going of the other family members never intruded. Secondly, we cook. We really cook! We were absolutely delighted at the quantity and breadth of the cookware, cooking utensils, serving platters, plates, etc. that were available to us. Did we need a mandolin? There was one available. What about a grater? Yes. There are two. And when was the last time you found Calphalon cookware in a rental property? Finally, if you plan to just hole up and watch TV, play DVD's, or music from your i-pod, there are multiple entertainment systems that will allow you to do so. Do you think I had a good time? You bet. We're already talking among ourselves about a return for next year.

The Most Beautiful Place I Have Ever Been!!!!

OK... I only have 2500 characters to describe the pure paradise that is Villa Panorama in St. Thomas. So here we go.. My wife and I, our 2 yo, my sister, mommy, daddy and friend stayed here for 7 days! Before we arrived we had studied the pictures for weeks. We were ready! When we arrived... nothing... and I mean nothing... could have prepared us for OMG - jaw dropping - beauty that welcomed us! This placed was made in vacation heaven. http://bit.ly/hkm1ko But the beauty of this place didn't stop at the view. The inside is lavishly adorned with the most beautiful and relaxing decorations ever. It's like your vacationing inside of a Coastal Living Magazine. Each room has it's own style and feeling. From Egyptian flare to French elegance you will always find a place to lounge and relax. The house is perfectly located just beyond Drakes Seat about 10 mins from town in a private gated community. There is a local grocery spot (convenience store prices) less then 5 mins away for those quick purchases. (They have diapers!!) We travled with 7 adults and a baby so, of course, we had a lot of things on the agenda. Boat Rides, multiple trips to the beach, dinner and lunch out, etc, etc. I hate it break it to you but we cancelled over 80% of the things we wanted to do. No one wanted to leave the house. Yes, it's that amazing. With 4 bedrooms completely separated from each other there is plenty of privacy and quite time. And believe it or not - there are no "bad" rooms. None! But my favorite memories will always be sitting in the open living room / dinning room with all 8 of us. The pool got plenty of use but not as much as the hot tub. We were there in Feb - March so the sliding glass doors stayed open and the cross breeze felt like amazing. You can't leave without sampling the local food but take full advantage of the full kitchen! Stock up at Cost U Less or Pueblo and have at it. On our way back home we talked to a couple that stayed at a local Marriott. There was a distinct difference in their experience and ours. St. Thomas comes alive when you're not chained to a hotel and it really comes alive when you stay here. This was truly the best vacation I have ever taken. Better weather than Belize, more to do than San Juan and nicer people than the Bahamas. If you are coming to St. Thomas this is one of the best places on the island. You will not be disappointed. Parting Thought: Don't over think it. Just Book It! No, Really! Now!!! - Before I do!

Our “extended” family stayed in this home January 2 – January 9, 2011. There were seven of us, my wife and I and 5 young adults (21 –26 years) The Property and the views are absolutely amazing. We all walked in the front door behind the Villa Manager and just stopped in awe… it was actually hard to go on a tour because you wanted to stand and enjoy the view. The Villa Manger met us at the airport, helped transport Luggage.. This property is very private and we would not have been able to find it without her help. The house is very accurately described in the listing and in the manual the owner sends before your arrival. The house is furnished with high end yet practical items – rely no convenience missing (telephone, sat TV, Internet, icemaker, beach chairs cooler, etc.) There was also mid week maid service provided (tipping required). The location is excellent, only 10 minutes from Charlotte Amelia which is a plus for dining, shopping and night life - but you far enough away that feel secluded and away from the Cruise Ship crowds. The Villa is 5 minutes from Magens Bay and 20 minutes from Red Hook for the ferry and more dining and nightlife. We all felt very safe in this location. The property manager was extremely helpful. She was always available and wanted you to call for anything. She even came back the first evening and gave us recommendations on Restaurants, grocery store, nightlife, beaches, ferries, sailing/snorkel adventures and anything else we wanted to know. The pre arrival grocery service was also a big plus! No need to go out the first day and stock up – just unpacked and sat at the pool enjoying the view. They even had an on your honor system the bar…. Basically replace what you use, it appeared all on the tenants replaced more than they used. You definitely need a car while staying at this home. There is very little you can walk to but everything the Virgin Islands have to offer is a short drive. We had an exceptional time! At an exceptional property and will rent it again – for two weeks next time

PHENOMENAL VILLA!

7 of our family members stayed at this villa the week of August 8th thru 15th 2010. It was spectacular. Everything in the description and more. It was amazing to wake up to those amazing views every morning and then constantly enjoy them throughout the day. The pool was clean, well maintained, and refreshing. The hot tub was ready to go, with bubbles, jets, and waterfall flowing. The furniture was first class elegance, and it was clean and comfortable to sit on. The bedrooms and bathrooms were furnished in the best furniture available, and the bathrooms were all appointed with state of the art design and fixtures, with excellent water pressure in the showers. The owner and previous guests left many items stocked in the villa for use if needed. The owner provided us with a written manual on the villa itself and its ammenties, as well as multiple useful tips for our vacation in St. Thomas. We had access to a villa manager thoughout our entire stay, and when any problems arose, he remedied the situation. He even shopped for us and stocked the fridge with our long grocery list of requested items! (extra fee required for this service). We all had an amazing week at this villa. We would definitely come back and stay here again. We enjoyed being so close to Megans Bay Beach, and used our rental car to access all of the other St. Thomas beaches. We also used the inter-island ferry to go over to St. John for the day, and we used a private charter company to go over to the British Virgin Islands for the day and see Virgin Gorda, Normans Island, and Jost Van Dyke. St. Thomas has the distinct advantage of being a wonderful island destination in and of itself, but it also is in such close proxemity to other islands that are only a boat ride away! I can't say enough about this vacation, I just keep looking at our vacation pictures and wishing that I could go back. And the pictures that are the most breath-taking are the ones taken from the balconies of this villa!
