We just returned from a family reunion at Mountain Serenity in the cool New Mexico mountains of Angel Fire. It was a great escape from the Kansas and Texas heat. The house was perfect for 6 adults and 6 cousins. The children really enjoyed having the basement floor to themselves. The two bedrooms upstairs make a wonderful get away for the parents. We cooked most of our meals there at the house. The dining room is perfect for 8 and there is another table for 4 (older cousins loved having their own table). We spent one day in Angel Fire taking walks around the house on the greenbelt (actually took a long walk each evening), paddle boating at Monte Verde Lake and going horseback riding at the Roadrunner Horse Tours Ltd. Went down to Taos the next day where we toured the town and the pueblo and spent one day at Red River checking out the village and going up the chair lift. Great experience! Great area! Great house! Great location!

Great Home for Family Vacation

This house was amazing! It was perfect for our family. We had 3 adult couples and a handful of kids ranging in age from 4 weeks to 14yo. The basement was like a children's dream world with an air hockey table, toys, games and satellite TV. The adult bedrooms on the second floor were very comfortable. The bed in the master bedroom on the main level was great and the bathroom is huge. The entire house was beautifully decorated. It really is just as beautiful as the pictures. The setting around the house was beautiful as well. It sits on a wooded lot with plenty of trees. The lot beside the house is empty so it seems very private even though it is in a neighborhood. We cooked all of our meals at the house. It had all of the pots/pans/utensils we needed and many more that we did not. The neighborhood is right across the street from the ski area which was very convenient for us as we took the kids back and forth between the ski area and the house several times a day. After skiing each day the kids went sledding (we found sleds in the garage) beside the house. It was just as much fun as the $20/hour tubing at the resort. The owner of the house was super easy to work with and the rental process was hassle free. The owner contacted us several times before our trip and was happy to answer all of our questions about the area. We would definitely go back and will be recommending this house to all of our friends travelling to Angel Fire.

I planned the second annual family ski trip here and it was amazing! The view was beautiful. The house had eveything we needed! The kids had a blast playing in the snow around the house. Due to high winds the chili express was closed so we didn't get lift tickets but we still had a wonderful time at the house. We played games and even made our own little run on the small hill beside the house and taught a few how to snowboard. The owners were very nice and easy to coordinate with. I would stay here again and I do reccomend Mountain Serenity! - Kyra Alvarado & the PAdilla's

Our family had a wonderful holiday at Mountain Serenity. This house is truly a home away from home. All our needs were exceeded and only added to our vacation. We highly recommend this rental. We will definitely be back.

A Home Away From Home

The house was wonderful, we (13 people, from 2 years to great grandparents) enjoyed our stay. The house was very clean and comfortable. The only draw back was the sheet of ice from the top of the main road to the house . We had trouble navigating this even tho we all had 4 wheel drive vehicles. Finally bought about $100 worth of salt and salted the road.

Owner response:Winter weather conditions in the mountains of Angel Fire can be treacherous at times. To assist our tenants with any issues that come up during their stay, we have a local property manager who our tenants can call if they get into any trouble. Our property manager has people on call to plow or put cinders on the driveway to help our tenants through these conditions. This December, we had many freezing/thawing cycles that created icy conditions and in cases like this, we reimbursed the tenants for the salt they purchased for the driveway.

First Class Home in Best Location

My family and I have been returning to Angel Fire every summer. We thoroughly enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing. We have stayed in numerous homes on both sides of the resort including on Monte Verde Lake. I can say without hesitation that this home is the absolute best home in the perfect location. The back porch faces directly east so you get an unobstructed view of the morning sun. The front porch is covered and faces directly west so you can always enjoy outdoor lounging regardless of the weather. The resort trail system borders both sides of the property with easy access. We personally enjoy getting up early and using the trail system to trek to the local coffee shop. The home is well furnished with everything a family could need. The combination of bedrooms/beds and common areas is perfect for a family like ours (two children and grandma). It is especially nice to have wireless internet for our laptop, cable television, and a Weber BBQ on the front porch! It is an exceptional home and I highly recommend it to anyone considering a visit to Angel Fire.

My wife and I stayed at tis home for a week and thoroughly enjoyed. It is a great location, far enough away to feel secluded, but close to the town center and golf course. It has a great back porch that we enjoyed with coffee in the mornings and wine in the afternoons. We would definitely stay at this home again.

Perfect for us!

Three families stayed in this house (9 total). It was perfect! There isn't a bath on the lower level, so we put the kids down there since that is where the bunk room is, along with a 4th bedroom and a TV. It gets cold down there, but the house had a space heater that fixed that problem. The house is in a great location. Very private and open, at the same time. Lots of room especially outside. My husband's only complaint was the inside fireplace was not wood burning. The house is very close to the action. You can take the shuttle to the slopes for a dollar each way. Just make sure to call for a pickup from the slopes, so you don't get left. With the shuttle pick up, private houses get priority over condos. Parking at the slopes is non-existent when it's busy. Overall, the house was very comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed. The two coffee pots were great for us. We drink coffee all day long. My recommendation is to bring a knife, if you cook. Don't let the Henckels block fool you! You must have a 4WD because the driveway is so steep. We had to park on the road. This house is not for people in a wheelchair since the walkway to the front door is very narrow (the width of a shovel) and surrounded by snow. And stairs everywhere even in the garage. Drink lots of water, so the stairs don't make you out of breath, if you aren't used to the altitude. The nearest grocery store is 2 miles away but very expensive. When I went the first day, they were out of almost everything. If you are staying a while or have a big group, take a day and go to Taos for a visit and stop by a real grocery store on the way home. One nice thing is they had a Graco play pen in the upstairs closet. If we had known this, we wouldn't have lugged ours across Texas! We all had a blast at this house and would stay here again, for sure!

Owner response:We updated the house as of 7/2010 - swapped out one of the full beds for a queen bed, added an air hockey table, and a nice set of knives (in response to the comment above)
