Excellent Location! Excellent Vacation!

Guest: Jocelyn (Eston, Saskatchewan, Canada)
Date of Stay: 01/07/12 Review Submitted: 01/23/12

We just returned from an 8 day stay and can not say enough good things about this place! The owners were extremenly friendly and helpful, it really did make the trip so much easier! We even were emailing pictures back and forth getting to know each other! So personable. We had never stayed in a condo before, it will be very hard to go back to a hotel room after this trip! It was so nice to have all the extra space! We stayed with another couple and everyone could keep their clutter to themselves and the common area was a place to relax and plan our next adventure. Puamana itself, was an ideal location! Loved the beach access, the tennis courts, the pools, the close location to Front Street, EVERYTHING! Would stay here again in a heartbeat! We made great use of the owner's beach toys, chairs, towels, coolers etc...so much easier than having to either pack it or purchase it ourselves. They also had a binder full of things to do and places to see!! Thank you again for everything! I will be emaling you pictures very soon :)

Great location & amenities - walk to Lahaina Town

Guest: HMBay (Half Moon Bay, California)
Date of Stay: 09/18/11 Review Submitted: 10/04/11

When you walk in the front door, feels airy and welcoming in old Hawaiian style. Take your shoes off and relax - you're in Maui! Crank up the BBQ and enjoy the lanai (patio). Great location & amenities - three pools, tennis, jogging - and all within easy walking distance of Lahaina Town. We could walk to the piers for excursions - we went to Lana'i for a day of off-roading - no parking worries. Newly renovated Salvation Army thrift store is an easy walk to Shaw St but take your car as you will buy too many dresses, aloha shirts, shorts, etc. Be sure to visit Star Noodle way up hill past Walgreens - go after 9 when it's filled with locals. Try the Pad Thai & Peartini. Sunrise Cafe is great for breakfast on Front St just past Pioneer Inn.

Sad to Leave.......

Date of Stay: 06/21/11 Review Submitted: 07/04/11

The unit is exactly as pictured, worked great for our family of four. Puamana is a jewel, we loved everything about it. Cheryl & Dave were great to work with. Their recommendations were fantastic and the information provided prior to and at our arrival was thorough and very informative. Snorkeling book in the unit was great! I recommend the Hyatt Luau for anyone with serious food allergies--staff provided a sheet of info.. Great show enjoy by 11 & 9 year olds. Pacific Whale Foundation snorkeling & dolphin watching trip was a hit, learned so much from the crew about the other islands and marine life. I recommend this property without hesitation, I've used vrbo extensively this is one of the best .

Truly Paradise

Date of Stay: 05/28/11 Review Submitted: 06/14/11

We loved our stay at Puamana!!!! The Houston's townhome was lovely and just as described! The townhome was clean and well-appointed - perfect for our family of 5. We thoroughly enjoyed the Lanai, pools and nearby ocean access. The owners were extremely helpful in all aspects of the rental process. It was in perfect walking proximity to Lahaina. We enjoyed the Old Lahaina Luau and galleries. It was also close to many lovely public beaches. You could stay here without a vehicle and just enjoy the Lahaina area. We also really appreciated the wifi and printer (made confirming our return flight & printing boarding passes easy). Our only regret is that we could only stay 8 days in paradise. We will book again if we are fortunate enough to return to Maui!!! Mahalo!

Our restful vacation in Puamana

Guest: Kelly (Winnipeg, Mb. Canada)
Date of Stay: 02/23/11 Review Submitted: 03/10/11

My husband and I spent 11 glorious days in Puamana from Feb 23 to March 5th. Thank-you so much Cheryl and Dave for the use of your home in paradise! It was just as described, just as the pictures show. Very clean and comfortable and peaceful. The lanai was our very favorite place to go for a drink and some munchies after our eventful days exploring Maui. Location, perfect. Just a short walk into town to enjoy all the ammenities of "Front" street and close by car to our favorite beach in Kaanapali! The whale watching was spectacular! If you have the guts..........go on the raft (zodiac) boat for your excursion. What a blast! Frightening and exciting all at the same time. Saw lots and lots of whales! It was raining the last two days of our stay so we went for long drives. Saw Kihei, Wailea, and Paia. Wonderful places. But the very best place I have ever been for dinner has to have been a place called "Mama's" Fish House in North Maui just past Paia! Fabulous, fabulous food and scenery. A must do. Also did love all of the restaurants that Cheryl and Dave recommended on Front St. Do the Feast at lele Luau if you are going to do any. All in all, had a wonderful vacation. Can't wait to bring our children and grandchild here for our next adventure. Thanks again Cheryl and Dave for your hospitality! Thanks also to Debra for her help. Great lady!

Jan 2011 - 2 week stay

Guest: MIke (Calgary, Ab)
Date of Stay: 01/21/11 Review Submitted: 03/06/11

Our family enjoyed 10 days at Puamana. Location is superb. Via the footpath and nearby pedestrian gate we had 20 minute walk access to downtown Lahaina for shopping and catching whale watching and snorkel trips. Getting up close to humpback whales is breathtaking. If you happen to be up at the crack of dawn to catch a trip, check out the banyan tree by the harbour, it is just bustling with birds all trying to take centre stage with their song. We made frequent use of the gated community's private beach and seaside pool. The pool was a popular spot but the beach was sparsely populated at each of our visits. If you visit over month end keep your gate codes handy for both months; some codes didn't change over. We took several driving day trips, and found it only took 20 minutes to drive to the interchange turn off to go to the airport, volcano, or south beaches. Parking was easy; if you arrive on a weekend don't be surprised by a parking ticket - it will be ripped up for you at the condo office when you check in Monday morning. If you arrive for your first day's stay, by car in darkness, like we did, suggest you take the turn off at Shaw street (which is a lighted intersection) and drive west to intercept Front Street (a T intersection), turning left on Front. Not far down the road from there, Front Street curves like a hockey stick blade (: the main Puamana gated entrance is within 50 feet of this curve on your right hand side. The owners, Dave and Cheryl, were great to deal with. They have a lovely unit. The spacious and private patio was definitely our highlight. We were able to enjoy many different birdsongs daily and were visited on more than one occasion by a very friendly wild chicken. The loft with its spiral stair case is great for kids to have their own space, as is the 2nd bathroom. The kitchen was stocked with every serving or cook wear we needed in addition to some everyday spices and condiments that don't really have a best before date. The multi a/c units were handy to keep the temperature comfortable for sleeping as well as covering up the occasional morning delivery truck rumbling onto Front Street from the highway. The complex has a crew trimming the abundant greenery; they could end up working around the condo for a day during your stay, but thankfully they don't start their equipment until 8:30/9:00 and finish at 3:30. If luck is on your side, you can beat them to the bananas growing just off the lanai.

The condo is exactly as pictured in the photographs. It was beautiful and accomodated the four of us well. I would recommend the loft more for kids since a couple of us hit our heads and the stair case a little steep. However, we all slept very well. The two bathrooms fit us great since there were four women. The boogie boards, snorkeling gear, and beach towels all came in so handy when going to the beach. The pool was beautiful and we loved using the adult only quiet pool. Sunrise and Sunsets were spectacular. We were there during the first swells of the month and we were able to watch many surfers. Working with Cheryl was a joy and she was able to provide more then enough information. We all enjoyed the stay immensely and would love to come again...

Very Nice & Excellent Value

Date of Stay: 09/29/10 Review Submitted: 10/12/10

We just returned from an 11 day Maui visit and had a great experience staying in Dave and Cheryl's Puamana townhome. Dave and Cheryl really put thought into what guests may need during their stay. They quickly responded to our e-mails and the payment transactions were managed professionally. The townhome is exactly as described and well maintained. We found a nicely decorated very comfortable unit with many extras provided. It was so nice to have the use of beach chairs, mats & beach towels. There is snorkel equipment, swim noodles & coolers available for guests to use. These items are not provided in other units we've stayed in over the years. In the past, we've had to pack or purchase items on Maui so we could spend time on the beaches & pools comfortably. Appliances, including washer and dryer, are well maintained and clean. The nice upstairs sleeping loft (half wall provides privacy) is accessed by a spiral staircase and may be challenging for older or disabled guests. There is a TV, several beds and great for older children, teens and adults without stair challenges. The ground level main bedroom is spacious with in-suite bath, patio access from the bedroom and the other areas including townhome entrance are easily accessible. The unit is located next to the walking path to Lahaina and is a short "on property" 3 minute walk to the ocean, ocean pool, & clubhouse. It is so nice to watch sunsets on the oceanfront beautiful lawn. The entire property is well maintained and very beautiful. As for Lahania, it is a tourist area and nice to access the amenities and then go back to this gated quiet property. There are several beach parks nearby to spend the day swimming, snorkeling and grilling. We like these parks on weekdays when less crowded. Many daily water sport (snorkel & dive) tours, sport fishing excursions and transportation ferries to Lanai and Molokai island depart from the Lahania harbor. Grocery and most shopping (nice new shopping center) is located nearby. We've stayed in different Maui locations and Puamana is our favorite. It makes a difference to be in a quiet, relaxing townhome without people in units above or below you. We drive all over the island (Wailea, Hana, Kapalua, Upcountry) and love coming back to Puamana after the day's activities. This Puamana Maui home provides so much and is an excellent value. Without hesitation, we will recommend this lovely townhome to friends & family. Thanks Cheryl and Dave !

Dear Cheryl and Dave. You really went out of your way to make our 9 day visit on Maui truly enjoyable. You provided a wealth of information so that we could plan our vacation to our liking. We loved the home and the property. The ocean pool of course is a big plus. Even listened to a young man play piano in the club house on afternoon! Would recommend anyone to stay at your home away from home. Thanks again.

Our Lahaina experience at this rental was by far the best of our Maui trips, and we have visited 5 other times. The location is unduplicated. And the price is rediculously inexpensive. You are walking distance to the town of Lahaina and yet just steps to the ocean. You have a quiet, private feeling. The home is well equipped, comfortable, even has wireless internet. We have already booked our next trip and it won't be the last

We enjoyed your home, Puamana and Maui! What a beautiful place. We are here celebrating the 50th anniversary of my parents along with my siblings and their families. It was a vacation of a lifetime! We all had a wonderful time at the Old Lahaina Luau and enjoyed the sunset cocktail cruise with Pacific Whale Foundation. We kayaked and snorkeled with the turtles with Maui Eco Tours, lots of fun. The ammenities were great-thanks for letting us use the boogie boards, etc. Written in the guest book of the town house.

This townhouse is located in a wonderful spot just a short walk to downtown Lahaina. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there and wished we could have stayed longer. The property was extremely homey and comfortable. We enjoyed dining out on the back patio in the evenings and then taking a stroll into Lahaina for some ice cream. We are already planning our return trip in 2011! Cheryl and Dave are wonderful people to rent from. They made our stay so easy.

Dave and Cheryl, We had such a great time at your Puamana home. The location was perfect. It's so close to town yet so quiet. We loved having a wonderful spot to watch the sun set every night. We could bring along our hors d'ouvres and champagne. We loved watching the surfers and even spent an afternoon at the property's beach and were able to watch a mother whale playing with her baby. It was magic.

This is the perfect townhome for a couple with 2-3 children. The location is perfect. It's possible to walk or bike to town. The kids have pools, beach, and even surfing right on the premesis. We found everything we needed for cooking. Each evening we took some hors douvres and champagne to the patio area and enjoyed a lingering sunset. This townhome is "old Hawaii" style rather than highrise glitz. We loved it.

This was truly a home away from home. The 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo just steps from the water in the gated community of Puamana was a wonderful place for our family to make memories. With Lahiana town within walking distance, this condo is in the most perfect location in Maui. It is decorated island style, very comfortable, clean , well stocked, and even wireless internet & fax for business if needed. Dave & Cheryl were so accommodating, they had a baby bed ready for us on our arrival. We enjoyed our stay here so much we hope to return soon.

Lahaina beach condo

Guest: fall visitor (sacramento, ca)
Date of Stay: 10/29/08 Review Submitted: 11/11/08

Kitchen tools are below par and second bedroom access is a dangerously steep ladder-like stair. Beds 3 & 4 are in tiny alcove so only usable by small children and open to bed 2 so no privacy. Even with aircon on the loft was uncomfortably hot past midnight. Overall a very comfortable and pleasant lodging in a great setting.

Owner response:The kitchen is fully stocked including blender, coffee grinder, toaster oven, wine opener, colanders, all pots and pans and new knives have just been added. The broken spatula the guest mentioned to us has been replaced. Spiral stairs and loft are exactly as shown in photos (more coming). All are up to code and safe. Air conditioner in loft cools entire area. (Remember, Maui is a tropical location with mean temperature of 81 degrees all year, warmer in summer!) Loft visitors do need to go down the stairs to use the second bath located adjacent to the kitchen. We recommend the loft for children and young adults. It is perfect for families with children who can be monitored from the living area! Please contact us if you have any questions. We want to disclose any and all details to you and look forward to working with you.

We have stayed in various complexes all over the island and this is definitely the best. We spent many hours at the ocean pool which extends out into the ocean and was a great place to watch sunsets. The condo is a stone's throw from the ocean. We enjoyed the lush private lanai for evening barbecues. The unit is clean, nicely furnished and well-equipped. Lahaina is a short, convenient walk away with great shopping and dining.
