Treetop Mountain Vista~Great Views, Hot Tub, Romantic Retreat!
Year Purchased: 1999
Why the Owner Chose Asheville
I have lived in the Asheville area now for 13 years. I find it to be one of the most wonderful and unique places imaginable. I wouldn't live anywhere else for anything. Something for everyone I always say! For nature lovers we have the Pisgah National Forest and the Smoky Mountains with unlimited hiking and bicycling trails, lots of waterfalls and one of the most diverse ecological areas in the world with over 100,000 species of plants and animals. Not only are the natural surroundings diverse but so are the people with their attendant cultural interests. And speaking of culture, Asheville is a haven for artisans with numerous galleries and festivals to show off their talents. If you love music, you've come to the right place. Not only do we have numerous concerts in the area all the time but we also have Friday night drumming during warmer months in Pritchard Park and Shindig on the Green in the summer, both free to the public. You will frequently hear a lone musician or a combo providing music in front of the cafes, Fine Arts Theater or Malaprops Bookstore. And speaking of downtown Asheville, it is impossible to walk down any street, anytime of day, any day of the week, any time of year and not find lots of people abuzz with activity. It is just a lively and invigorating town. And Asheville has some of the very best cafes and coffee houses you will find anywhere. Have I convinced you that I love it here? If so, or even if not, come and find out for yourself why Asheville is listed in numerous magazines and books as one of the top places to live or visit in the entire world!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Treetop Mountain Vista is a single cabin off to itself to provide longed for privacy. No one will bother you as you enjoy the hot tub for two high up on the deck. Part of the deck is covered for dining outside, which you can still enjoy even in a peaceful rain. The hot tub is open so you can thoroughly enjoy the night sky. The queen bed is in the great room with a perfect view of Mt. Pisgah as you awaken in the morning or just taking a breather anytime of the day. Everything is provided for your experience of rustic beauty with more than just a touch of luxury. The view from nearly every window is inspiring. You are right at Mt. Pisgah and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin is surrounded by trees, and you'll be watching the view over the treetops(hence the name TREETOP MOUNTAIN VISTA). Behind the cabin is more mountain to explore. But right up highway 151 and the Blue Ridge Parkway are plenty of places to hike or ride your mountain bike. It's an exceptional location! Yet not at all far from Asheville, Waynesville, The Biltmore Estate, The North Carolina Arboretum and too much more to mention here.
The closest attraction to our cabin and one of my favorites is only 4 miles away. It winds through amazing scenery all the way from Cherokee,NC into Virginia and has a variety of hiking trails.
The Biltmore House, known all over the world, dates back to the late 1800's. A trip to Asheville would not be complete without a visit.
"The Arboretum focuses on the education, economic development, research, conservation, and garden demonstration with respect to landscape, architecture, and plant sciences."
Second highest peak in Buncombe Co. Only 5 miles from the cabin to the trail head off the Blue Ridge Parkway. A moderate hike. At the top is a lookout tower and you may be able to see the cabin.
Located on hwy 276, it is an historic site: "Birthplace of forest conservation in America". It contains the first official school for forestry in America. Check their website for special events.
"The WNC Nature Center is a living museum f plant & animals native to the Appalachian Region" wildwnc.org
Encompasses the Cherokee Ancient Village, Cherokee National Museum, Education Center, Gift Store and more. Located in Cherokee,NC www.cherokeeheritage.org
The Pisgah Ranger District is dominated by Mt. Pisgah on the Blue Ridge Parkway and extends on both sides of the Parkway. The cabin is surrounded by the PNF but sits on private land.
Located in Maggie Valley, 53 minutes away. Address is 1080 Ski Lodge Rd., Maggie Valley, NC 28751. Ph. 828-926-0285.
Malaprops is an independent bookstore that captures the essence of Downtown Asheville. It is busy all the time and includes a cafe and coffee shop. If you love books and want to get in the middle of what it means to visit our unique town you will want to put Malaprops on your list of must do! Just 25 minutes from the cabin.
Earth Fare is a healthy food mart with a cafeteria and everything you want in the way of organic foods, humanely raised meat products and even includes a fireplace to enjoy on cold winter days while shopping and enjoying a bite to eat. Only 24 minutes from the cabin!
A full service grocery store, is very convenient to the cabin. Just down the road and 14 minutes away.
Owner's Map of Asheville
I grew up in Northern Wisconsin, right in the middle of lush forests and an abundance of natural lakes. You might say I was a "country girl" and proud of it. In 1972 I moved to Florida to experience a different kind of life. Lots of sun, warm weather and gorgeous beaches. But still I had a dream, and that was to live in the mountains and be able to walk out on my deck and enjoy an amazing view. In 1996 I moved to Western North Carolina and have never looked back, because life in these mountains is everything I ever hoped it would be and more. Three years later I moved into my cabin and realized that my dream of having an amazing mountain view,(without even having to get out of bed)had come true. That first morning took my breath away as I opened my eyes and the first rays of sunlight hit Mt. Pisgah. Three years ago I moved into a different location here in the area and opened up my dream to others. It has turned out to be one of the greatest joys of my life, to share this remarkable home. The cabin is located right outside of Asheville, NC and I still live nearby. I take a personal interest in seeing to it that everything is perfect for each new guest to arrive. Thanks, Nancy

Wonderful Stay!!!

I had an amazing experience at this cabin. It was secluded and very quiet. I was able to make a full Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen and only needed to bring my baster, roasting pan and spices. This cozy space is perfect for a couple, or a single person in need of a quiet retreat. I walked each day with my dog for hours along the roads near the cabin and few cars even passed me. The blue ridge is 15 minutes up the hill and Asheville is 36 minutes per my gps. The arboretum was about 40 minutes away and a great place to walk alone or with a dog. Neighbors were very nice and quiet. I cannot wait to come back and spend more time reading, cooking and relaxing in the hot tub. On my last night I sat in the hot tub for two solid hours watching the sun disappear behind the mountains. Anyone in need of some solitude, quiet, peaceful walks and lounging around will love this place. The bed was so comfy, I brought my own pillows but didn't even use them. I slept soundly every single night and woke up refreshed. I lit the wood burning stove each evening and sat in the rocking chair and read a whole book in three sittings. If you need entertainment, Asheville has shopping, restaurants, pubs, a beer tour and a playhouse. If you can tear yourself away from this great cabin, you can definitely find fun things to do in town, but don't plan too much because you might just want to buy a bunch of groceries and stay put. For me, this cabin was the destination on the trip and I didn't need to leave for much at all. Greenlife whole foods is in Asheville and I stocked up on everything I needed. I just cannot wait to come back! Thanks Nancy.
Owner response:Many thanks to Natalie who submitted this wonderful review! I would like to clarify some of the times that it typically takes to get to various destinations in the area. Natalie is right on with the Blue Ridge Parkway as it does take only 15 minutes to get there and is only 4.5 miles from the cabin. I've checked with map quest and also have driven many times to downtown Asheville, the Arboretum, the Biltmore Estate and super markets in the area and would like to revise times needed to access these points of interest: Food Lion is 14 minutes; Bi Lo Grocery is 16 minutes; Earth Fare Super Market (specializing in organic foods, humanely raised meats, no foods containing high fructose corn syrup etc. is 24 minutes; Malaprops Book Store in the heart of downtown Asheville is 25 minutes. Hope this information gives you a good idea of distances, (which is typically measured in minutes rather than miles here in the mountains). Thanks, Nancy Brennan, Owner

We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while visiting Asheville. Treetop Mountain Vista is incredibly homely and was perfect for the mini vacation my girlfriend and I took. Being nestled at the top of the hill, the home had the greatest view to wake up to. After a day of walking, the hot tub at night and a clear sky full of stars was the ideal way to relax. Everything we needed during our stay was supplied and easily found. Nancy has done a phenomenal job of letting her guests know about the Vista and the surrounding area. This home is incredibly comfortable and perfectly located. Thanks again, Nancy, for supplying us with the perfect place to stay. We will definitely rent the Treetop Mountain Vista again for our next trip!

Nancy, Let me just say that Treetop Mtn. Vista has been an amazing home away from home. It was exactly what I had in mind for our long weekend away from our hectic lives back home. We were only here for three nights but we went horseback riding, shopping, trails with the pooch, Candlelight Biltmore, and dinner at Grove Park Inn. Hoover, our boxer/bulldog loved running up and down the hills, but poor thing didn't sleep much...I think he was on Mtn. watch the entire time:) It rained most of the time but it was still fine hot tub weather. I believe I could stay snuggled up in this cabin all winter long! But the most amazing part was on our last night here; we had a romantic dinner at Grove Park Inn and then he PROPOSED!!! So a great weekend trip turned into the best moment so far in my entire life! This truly has been a magical place for us and I'm confident it will continue as such for many others after us! Thanks!
