Club Ed was an outstanding vacation for my family. It allowed us to spend time together, but also space to spread out and enjoy the comforts of the house. It is central to lots of adventure and activity, but we found ourselves just wanting to come back to lay by the pool or in the hammock. The view is spectacular. I would highly recommend this for families or a romantic getaway for couples. The staff kept the house clean and comfortable, the food prepared by Rosa was delicious and the overall experience was perfect. One week is not enough, plan on two.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I just spent a week at Club Ed and it was wonderful! All of the other reviews here are spot on, and there is not a lot to add, but let me tell you about two of my favorite things. First, the pool! It's a lovely beach, and the water is great, but for all those times when you don't feel like sand or waves, the pool is perfect! It's heated so the temperature is always comfortable and you can spent many happy hours in there, kicking back, and watching the beach go by. One of the things you will see on the beach, there, while you are in the pool, is a lot of people walking by and envying that you have a pool! The other thing I really appreciated was the privacy of the rooms. I was traveling with my sister and her husband, and was worried that we would be crammed together. Not so! As other reviews have said, the house and rooms are spacious, The downstairs bedroom was comfortable and let me come and go as I pleased - it has a great little library too! All in all, just a great experience. I would love to go back. Right. Now!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Club Ed deserves yet another wonderful review. My husband, my brother and I just returned from 8 relaxing days at Club Ed. We have been there many times, and it just keeps getting better. I only wish we could have stayed a full two weeks! The villa is so easy to move into and call home. It has everything you need, from an amazing meal that awaits you in the fridge (thanks to Rosa the housekeeper), to all-you-could-need kitchen utensils, to beautful Mexican plates and stemware. There are nice linens and fluffy beach towels. And then there is the pool...a definite bonus! One of life's greatest pleasures is hanging out in the solar heated pool, watching the waves come in and the world go by. And, if that is too stressful for you...you can always laze under the palapa and swing in one of the hammocks! As beautiful as Club Ed is, it is not pretentious. It is one of the most comfortable places on Earth to be. It is excellent for couples, families and extended familes. It provides a lot of privacy, with each bedroom having a private bathroom and shower. There is plenty of space for being with others or to find some time alone. There are lots of things to do in the area and great restaurants nearby. I would give Club Ed 6 stars, but the rating system only allows 5. We look forward to returning soon!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thank you, Club Ed! Our family had the most fantastic vacation last week in Akumal. Your home is so beautiful (even better than the photos with all of the new remodeling!) and easy to live in, none of us wanted to leave. My dad, who has been recovering from a stroke, was able to get around the house easily and made the hammocks under the palapa his second home. After a long day of traveling, arriving to a fridge fully stocked with food and drinks, and fresh fruit was amazing, and Rosa's chicken mole was delightful, I only wish we'd taken advantage of her cooking a few more times during our stay. Kerstin was so helpful and she gave us some wonderful recommendations for dining and activities during our stay, Cetli restaurant was one of the most unique and flavorful dinners I've ever had, and Hartwood on the beach in Tulum has to be one of my top 5 dining experiences of all time (be sure to make reservations, and order the octopus) At the end of our stay, the entire family agreed that it was the best family vacation we have ever taken. Thank you again for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I'm so happy to know that you and your family had a fantastic time. Your daughter wrote to me that this was her best family vacation ever. I've passed on your wonderful compliments to Kerstin and Rosa. Thank you for staying at our home, Michelle

It's a pleasure to comment on this wonderful home!! We have been coming to this lovely beach for eleven years now, where we have stayed in three different houses. Even before we ever stayed in Club Ed we admired it as we strolled along the water, it is easily the most beautiful private house in the area. Once we got the opportunity to stay we were even more delighted, and it is hard to imagine vacationing anywhere else now. We have stayed here half a dozen times so far (typically with family or friends) and look forward to our next trip. The Club Ed house is extremely comfortable, immaculately maintained, and beautifully decorated. Major remodeling this past year has made the interior really spectacular with a lot of gorgeous wood and design details as well as an even more spacious and updated kitchen. We usually cook at home and the kitchen is very well-equipped and open to the main living area so that works well. A new wonderful mural in the master bedroom makes you feel like the room is continuous with the beach, sea, and sky. The beach is perfect (never too crowded with a nice mix of people and an easy swim to nice snorkeling). We also enjoy being close to tourist areas that offer lots of activities while still luxuriating in a quiet and uncrowded beach -- a perfect and very relaxing combination for vacation time. Outside of the house the garden is lovely and immaculately cared for, and the pool is a fantastic addition. Makes it easy to take a quick dip in fresh water, our kids love it and it keeps them close by, and it is constructed with the creative and special details (like sparkling tiles and underwater art) that characterize all of Club Ed. The location is wonderful. Improved roads make it easy to drive down from the Cancun airport, it’s just a few minutes to Akumal Playa and Pueblo for shopping or restaurants, and not too far from Tulum for bigger stores and a variety of restaurants and activities. Also easy to reach many parks, other beaches and cenotes (ask Kerstin), and a great starting point for day trips to Mayan sites or snorkeling and diving trips. Beyond the great location and the property itself are of course the people! Kerstin, who manages the property, is very friendly and wonderfully helpful -- she can answer any question you may have about the house, the area, things to do, restaurants, etc. (in at least three languages). Rosa and Rutillo are also friendly and helpful, and keep the property in wonderful condition. Enjoy it!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I just returned from Club Ed, which has become our home away from home. Each year we return, it just keeps getting better. The villa is located on a beautiful beach, with swimming and snorkeling just a few steps out the door. The sunrises are absolutely beautiful. It is a quiet area (not remote...just tranquil!), which means the beach is never crowded. The water is always beautiful, but for some reason (Mother Nature perhaps?) the water was the calmest and clearest we have ever seen it this year, making for exceptional underwater discoveries! The villa is beautiful in its designs and decor. It is comfortable, and easily feels like home once you move in. There is great attention to detail. The Mexican plates and glasses add to the flavor and make the villa feel more like a real home than a vacation rental. There have been many upgrades in the past few years, including an oceanfront swimming pool (the only villa that has one!) all new bathrooms, new floors, new kitchen cabinets, and more. The villa is well cared for by a husband and wife team who will look after your every need. When you arrive, there is a wonderful home cooked meal awaiting you, prepared by Rosa, the housekeeper. This year, she opened a coconut from the tree in front, poured me a glass of its water, and removed the meat for me to eat. She showed me how they spice it in the Yucatan, and it was delicous. Small things like this make for great memories. There is a lot to do in the area, from ziplining, exploring the ruins, swimming in a cenote, 4-wheel drives through the jungle, swimming with the turtles, and plenty more. Over the years we have done it all, and now enjoy the simple pleasures of snorkeling (Yal -ku Lagoon is a favorite of ours), floating in the pool, reading a good book, playing a game of chess. It's the quiet we enjoy. If you are into dining, there are lots of good restaurants in the area. We especially enjoy dining in Tulum, where there is a large choice of reatuarants, and you can stroll past the shops after dinner. But, we are always glad to come back home to Akumal where there are fewer tourists. Finally, I would like to say a short word about safety. Akumal is a very small town with very kind and beautful people. It is not what you read about in the news. That is what makes it so very special. Club Ed truly is a gem! I always say, it is a little slice of heaven on Earth. My husband and I would definitley recommend it for a wonderful get away!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just stayed at Club Ed Akumal for the 6th time. We don't normally write reviews, but this place is so amazing that we just had to acknowledge the owners for all their caring and insight as to what makes a great vacation home, including the location! This beautiful and comfortable home sleeps 6 with room for at least 4 more in the casita behind. Perfect for a family reunion. The house is decorated with local artwork including tropical murals on the walls and in the pool. Everything has been recently remodeled and the kitchen has everything you could want to prepare any meal - including a separate drink refrigerator. As noted in their other reviews, the staff take great care of you and will have any item waiting for you upon arrival, including dinner. The beach is powdery white sand and the protected reed for snorkeling and sea kayaking is just feet away. We even saw baby turtles hatching and running down to the water on our last stay. The gorgeous sunrise and sunsets can be appreciated from anywhere in the house or in the hammocks under the palapa on the beach. There is much to do in the area, including the incredible Mayan ruins and centotes. Getting there is a breeze. It is a one hour trip from the international airport in Cancun on a modern four lane freeway with easy to read signage - even at night. Can't say enough about Club Ed, except that you should experience it. We checked out all the other options on the beach and were confident that we were at the best place!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Tucked away from much of the hustle and bustle of the Riveria Maya, Club Ed is a great place to just get away. We arrived in the evening to a stocked refrigerator and a nice chicken mole dinner which Rosa (the housekeeper) kindly prepared for us upon request. We then took a nice stroll on the white sand beach under the stars and went swimming in the pool. The house is clean, safe, well maintained, and the perfect place for a romantic get away or a family vacation. Perched on the second floor, the master bedroom has an amazing panoramic view of the ocean. If traveling with a group, there are plenty of bedrooms in the main house, and everyone will still feel like they have their own space. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to be used (we cooked several times and grilled fish on the outside barbecue). We spent most of our days either laying on the beach, snorkeling on the reef (we saw a hawksbill turtle, a really cool Caribbean reef squid, a ray, at at least 35+ species of fish right in front of the house), visiting the local fresh water cenotes, birding in the Si'an Ka'an bioreserve, exploring Mayan ruins, and eating delicious local cuisine (like fish tacos at Lucy's Kitchen in Akumal, authentic mexican food at Don Cafeto in Tulum, or a romantic dinner on the beach at Posada Margarita in Tulum). We also spend a good amount of time doing nothing, which was great. There is a great library with novels, guide books, naturalist books for regional birding and snorkeling/diving, and movies. We would not hesitate to recommend Club Ed to my friends and family, and can't wait to return there ourselves.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was our 15th year at Club Ed and it keeps getting better and better. You can’t beat the gorgeous white sand, the Caribbean blue skies, the clear warm sea, and chilln’ in the solar heated pool right outside the sliding doors while drinking a cold one; this spot can’t be beat. I love snorkeling in front of the house and this year I swam with a baby turtle and a string ray. Be sure to swim with some corn tortillas for the fish. They love it and will swim right up to you. It’s always a nice touch to have Rosa prepare her chicken mole & flan for your arrive so you don’t’ have to think about a restaurant or get to cookn for your first night. I also recommend her delicious ceviche for later in the week, yummy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you once again for your wonderful praise. I love knowing that the two of you have such a good time at Club Ed Akumal, it is truely your home away from home. Rosa & Rutilo always miss you both and look foward to you coming down every year. I know you'll like the new kitchen and living room, it'll be another surprise for you when you come down again next April. Thank you as well for choosing to spend your vacations at our home.

Club Ed was amazing! From the moment we got there we felt like we were in heaven. We have never had a more relaxing vacation. If you want to explore to the north or south, the collectivos that run between Playa del Carmen and Tulum are a short 5 minute walk away (where the road meets the highway). Akumal is only a few minutes away. However, we spent the majority of our stay at Club Ed on the beach or in the hammock under the palapa (all located right outside the villa). Both the villa and the cassita have full kitchens and were nice and tidy. The bedrooms are all private and have private bathrooms. We will definitely stay at Club Ed again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was our first visit to Club Ed. We came to celebrate a wedding anniversary with our family. We used the villa as well as the casita. Everyone was very comfortable and slept well. The entire property is amazing. Very clean, roomy, right on the beach, quiet, beautiful and cheerful. Our family ranged in age from 5 years to 59 years. All of us loved it. Every night we would watch the sea turtles laying eggs! We snorkeled and kayaked. Does it get any better? We didn't rent a car, but used the local transportation. It is great! Easy, inexpensive and seems to come about every 10 minutes. Coming and going from the airport, we used an airport shuttle. The drivers are friendly and on time. If one would like to venture to Coba, I'd suggest renting a car for the day. This property is sublime,Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband, two children and I stayed at Club Ed this past summer, and it was an amazing experience. We live in New York, and Club Ed is an easy tripThe home is gorgeous, the staff are wonderful, and the beach is one of the best I've been to anywhere in the world. Our vacation was relaxing, beautiful, and perfect. Although we spent most of our time on the beach or in the pool, we did travel in the surrounding area as well. Club Ed is an easy trip to Tulum (the town and the ruins), Playa del Carmen, and of course Akumal...it is also possible to do day trips as far away as Chichen Itza! Really, I cannot say enough good things about this property or the fabulous owners! Highly, highly recommend Club Ed Akumal. Club Ed is convenient to Tulum and Akumal for meals out and close to cenotes, mayan ruins, bicycling, four-wheeling, fishing, diving and snorkeling. Michelle and Ed, Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Club Ed Akumal. We visited from March 15th through the 22nd. It was a perfect vacation for our family which included a total of 12 people ranging in age from 1 to 49. Your home was beautiful and far exceeded our expectations in terms of location and accommodations. We had a great time on the beach and spent plenty of time snorkeling in front of the house and in Akumal bay. We were able to see large variety of fish, coral and several turtles. Rosa and Rutilo were great people and they kept the property in immaculate shape, they prepared several meals for the family, we especially enjoyed the shrimp dinner and Grande Guacamole dip! The pool was beautiful and perfect for the kids and adults alike. Kerstin, the caretaker, was helpful in providing us with information about local attractions and she helped us prepare for a nice family get together by having a birthday cake and bottle of wine delivered to the house for a special celebration. We were able to visit Tulum and Coba, and the kids went to the local cenote, there is plenty to do, but relaxing on the beach was our favorite. Our trip and stay at your home was perfect and we are looking forward to a return visit in the near future. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us. We have been going to Aventuras Akumal for ten years and love it. I will never forget the look on our kids faces when they first walked through the front doors and saw the beautiful white sand and ocean just a few feet away! The swimming and snorkeling is great right out front. We have been fortunate to have stayed at Club Ed's a few times and it is by far our favorite. If you like to cook the kitchen has everything you need.We bought a big bag of oranges and made fresh orange juice every morning with the juicer. If you need any help planning your day, Kerstin the property manager was always helpful. We really enjoyed the new pool, what a nice upgrade! I would highly recommend this home for your next holiday!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We would like to add that we've been vacationing here for several years. No need to go elsewhere. Gorgeous home with huge drop-dead master suite, along with two other bedrooms and baths, and fully equipped kitchen with solid granite countertops! The new pool is spectacular! We love the addition and the option of a quick dip and back onto the chaise lounge, or out to the beach and into the water. This is a perfect combination of upscale accommodations, privacy, and easy access to attractions and other towns. Club Ed Akumal is a rare gem. Highly recommend (although I don't want it to be TOO popular) :-)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

I thought it might be nice to write an update for those of you who are looking for current reviews on this property. My husband and I returned to Club Ed Akumal for a third time, and we will be returning again later this year. It just keeps getting better and better! The house was more beautiful than ever, with added art work and hand painted murals on the walls. The beach continues to be gorgeous. The caretakers are wonderful, and they keep the villa and grounds in great condition. And, best of all, there is a new pool! Yes...a pool. Club Ed is the only private property in Aventuras Akumal that I know of with an oceanfront pool. I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed sitting in the pool on hot day, looking out at the ocean. It was a great addition to an already great property. Life does not get much better than this! If you want a relaxing "get away" in a beautiful yet comfortable environment. I highly recommend Club Ed. Once you move in, it feels like a home that you will never want to leave.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

What a wonderful getaway. Even if it weren't -18 degrees in Denver, this is the place. Beautiful home right on the beach, all the amenities, and a beautiful pool featuring decorative glass mosaics. We woke up every morning in paradise. Definitely coming back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

If you haven't found Club Ed yet, you haven't vacationed on the Riveria Maya! This home is beautiful and far better than any all inclusive you could find. When you first arrive, you see the house--WOW!--then you see the beach--OH, MY!!--then you see the ocean--I'M NEVER LEAVING HERE, DEAR!!! To us Club Ed has become our home in Mexico. Personally, I intend to go every year until I'm dead, even if it means the kids have to take me. Sign up for Club Ed and have a life. JulieOwner response: Julie, you are so wonderful, I can just picture you and Brian playing on the beach every February until you're 200 plus years old then hanging out in the palapa after that having someone bring you drinks. It's always a plus for Ed and I having you stay at Club Ed. Thank you, Michelle

Fabulous, upscale casual home. Plenty of room and amenities, right on the coral reef. Friendly, skilled caretakers who attend the house daily. You can have as much or as little extra service as you like. We had a wonderful meal waiting for us when we arrived, and elected to use the gourmet kitchen to prepare our own meals afterward. The local restaurants are also great! The property managers are wonderful, and knowledgeable on just about any question you could have about the area. And the snorkeling and diving are superb. A MUST do!Owner response: Thank you Tracy and Ward, It was great having you both stay at Club Ed. Rosa loves the picture you drew for her. I hope you're able to get down again next fall. Thank you for the kind comments, Michelle

We have stayed at Club Ed for 2 years in a row, and consider it our home away from home. We hope to return for many years to come. We have stayed at other places in the area, but find Club Ed to have the best beach location, and the property is extremely well cared for. The villa is beautifully decorated. All rooms in the villa face the sea. The master bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed and excellent reading lights. A definite plus! We fall asleep to the sound of the waves and wake up overlooking the ocean. It is the perfect way to start each day. The kitchen is fully equipped. It has everything you will need if you decide to stay in and cook, including beautiful Mexican plates and stemware. The dining room table seats eight, and is perfect for doing puzzles and playing board games. Upon arrival, Rosa leaves a meal in the refrigerator for you. The chicken mole, vegetables and flan are delicious. It is a real treat. If you are looking for a beautiful place to relax, enjoy the beach and take advantage of all that the area has to offer, we highly recommend a stay at Club Ed.Owner response: Thank you Jerry & Karen, I still want you to stay for 2 weeks to a month, you're go getters who know how to hit the beach and relax. I'm already looking forward to your next vacation at Club Ed and you just left. Thank you for your great comments, we love having you both stay at our home, Michelle

Going on our 12-13th straight year of staying at Club Ed,there aren't enough keys on my keyboard to say how sweet this place has been. From the super comfortable King bed in the master to the huge relaxing beach side patio this place defines relaxation. Falling asleep in the hammock under the palapa, reading on the comfortable beach loungers, snorkeling with my wife right in front of the house are just the beginning stories of this beach front paradise. We love this place and would recommend staying here to my momma !! Actually she already has !!! Housekeepers & cook extrodinare Rosa and her husband Rotillio over the years have become great friends and will take very good care to all who enter.Ask Rosa to cook her famous chicken mole' The house the beach the beautiful blue water the swaying palms...can't wait to go again next spring. Adios' Pat & Kym RyanOwner response: Pat & Kym, You two are terrific. I know everyone on the beach looks forward to your arrival every year. I know you've been there more times then me or it seems that way. Thank you for being a part of Club Ed, Michelle

My husband and I have stayed at ClubEd several times and always love it. It is the perfect place to detach from the hectic pace of everyday life. We have taken both aging parents and young children with us - everyone wants to go back. You couldn't ask for better service or nicer people than those who work for ClubEd. They are simply fabulous. It is the perfect place for adventurers and sand potatoes alike. Absolutely the best place for a relaxing vacation!Owner response: Sheila and Jeff, You both seem like family, you've stayed at Club Ed for the past 6 years. Rosa, Rutillo and Kerstin think you're great, which you are. Thank you for your wonderful comments, Michelle
