We stayed at the cabin for 4 nights. Had a great time, the location was perfect for skiing and snow mobiles. We had plenty of room for 3 families(6 adults, 3 kids).

We went on a family vacation at the end of August and had a great time. It was so nice being able to eat breakfast and dinner sitting out on the nice deck over looking the trees. Everything was supplied well. It was clean when we got there and the owners responded right away to the emails we sent. Great for people who also want to go skiing in the winter season, it is right by the Ski Resort. Great for the summer and winter.

This was our first stay with a VRBO and it was WONDERFUL! Needed to bring really nothing, everything was supplied in this ctabin. We had a super time in this area. The only hard thing about it is, just track the 1.8 miles on the Nevade Gulch road....cause you will miss the turn off otherwise. We will be back!

We were fortunate to have 5 days of ideal weather that made our family get-together even more special. I agree with others that the picture of the outside does not do the cabin justice - but will also say I had a "Oh my, how will we all fit?" feeling when we drove up and visions of the grandkids trying out the steep hillside as my initial reaction. Once inside, it was very accommodating and pleasant and met our needs. The owner was good to deal with. As a whole, we are not the "paper plates" crowd, so I was a bit disappointed with the limited drinking glasses, but also think there may have been more there in the past. We had our own covered cups for the kids, so it worked out fine. If you arrive there and the previous renters left the oven looking like they baked a jar of maple syrup in the bottom of the oven, the automatic oven cleaner does work well. (Why don't renters treat a nice home as if it were their own?) There were plenty of towels but we did not find the sheets for the extra loft mattress. If the opportunity arises, I would not hesitate to stay there again and definitely recommend it to others. Regarding surrounding attractions, we were awed by Mount Rushmore and thrilled when we saw the beautiful silver, grey wolf scamper in front of our car upon return that night. We also enjoyed the hike to the waterfall which was only minutes away, the hike up to Roosevelt Tower and beautiful view there (all three were free except for parking at Mount Rushmore which is a big plus when you have a large group). The nominal fee for the gold mine south of Deadwood was well-worth the educational time with the children and adults. We had almost all our meals together as a family at the cabin, but we did enjoy the cafeteria at Mount Rushmore with the awesome view.

My family stayed here for a fun skiing vacation in January. The road to the cabin was treacherous with alot of snow but we were able to plow outof there without 4wheel drive. I would recommend going in with a 4 wheel drive vehicle in the winter. The exit onto the highway is quite dangerous as there are alot of vehicles coming up to Terry Peak. The location, accomodations and atmosphere of the cabin were wonderful. I would have given it 5 stars except the communication with the owner was sporadic and there were weeks of garbage outside of the cabin that was very unsightly. Other than those things, we loved our time there and would definitely stay there again.

Lost Miner's Lodge is an exceptional property and exceeded our expectations! The pictures on the website are insufficient to describe how wonderful this cabin really is. It is quite spacious and the amenties are better than might be expected. We have stayed at various properties such as this over the years and this one ranks among the best. It is also secluded enough to be very private but not too far from Lead or the many sights and activities in the area. The owners were very gracious and helpful and can be trusted when internet arrangements are being made. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone who might be visiting the area.

We rented this cabin with a group of friends during the Christmas holiday break. The weather was quite bad and part of the group could not make it the first day we had the cabin reserved. The owner was gracious and kind to allow us to change our dates and come a day later and stay a day later. He was very gracious, accomodating and friendly. The cabin was lovely! Lots of space, beautiful views, close to all winter activities...it is bright, new and beautiful! We had a lovely stay!

Our family stayed in the Lost Miner's Cabin for the month of June, 2009. The home was GREAT, more than we expected. Relatives and friends who came to help us celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary were also impressed. Although some had a hard time believing the instructions on how to get to the cabin. We had no problems, the service personnel were quick in responding to our "we ran out of Toilet paper" call. We had planned to visit again in 2010 but circumstances dictate that we attend a friends anniversary in Washington state. Thank you for making your cabin available for rental. Lowell Jacobson

The pictures do not do justice to how great this cabin was. There was more room that we could have imagined once we arrive. Great place to go relax and take in the scenery. We will be back for our annual vacation next year.

Our family rented this cabin in February. It was perfect. The pictures do not show how beautiful this cabin really is. I would stay here again anytime.
