Check out the local orchid gardens and coffee fields, drive to the top of an active volcano, enjoy gorgeous waterfalls, surf Costa Rica's legendary waves, hike in some of the country's many national parks, bird watch, fish, dive, check out a zip line and canopy tour, and so much, much, more.
We love Atenas for all of it's practical offerings and local charm as well as the wonderful people. Stop by the local farmer's market in town on Fridays to pick up wonderful produce, meat and fish. Perhaps one of its best attributes is the central location to the rest of the country's magnificent sites. With 8 different climactic zones, 26 national parks, and more species of birds, butterflies, and trees than the US and Canada combined, it is easy to see why people try explore as much of the country as possible when they are here. You won't be far, no matter what part of Costa Rica you wish to explore. We are located 45 minutes from the San Jose airport (where you can hop a quick flight to virtually everywhere in the country via Sansa and Nature Air, if you so desire), a 45 minute drive to the beach, and less than an hour to breath taking waterfalls and volcanoes via mystical cloud forests.
So come down and curl up in the hammock and read a book or get out there and see the country - either way, you'll love it here! And if you must stay connected with the rest of the world ...We Now have WIRELESS HIGH SPEED internet!!!! Now you have no excuses .....
