This is a beatuiful and convenient location for visiting Yellowstone Park and the surrounding area. There are many other activites to do and see in the area such as horseback riding or the opportunity to bring your own horses, hiking,fishing, river rafting, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and hunting. All of these activites are available in the nearby upper Yellowstone Valley.
This area is a beautiful place to visit any time of year. Winters in the Gardiner are usually pretty mild. The road through the northern part of Yellowstone to Cooke City is open year round. The most scenic part of the Park offers unlimited wildlife viewing, particularly of elk, bison and the famous Yellowstone wolves. There is snowmobiling and cross country skiing in the mountains above Gardiner, Cooke City and in the Park. Downhilll skiing is also available nearby at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky.
