Scotland is the perfect place to rest, relax, and feel like a local. Everyone is super friendly and hospitable. Therefore, there is no better way to enjoy the community than to become a part of the community by staying in this cozy, homey apartment. Although the main streets are so close, the location of the apartment is in a neighborhood setting, surrounded by different gardens.

This property was excellent for our group of 4. The location was excellent for walking anywhere in the city, and the neighborhood was excellent. The apartment was spacious, very attractive, had great views, and all of the things our family needed for a wonderful holiday break! The kitchen was lovely, the bedrooms were very comfortable and the living room was comfortable and attractive. Again - location, location, location! it was wonderful to have such easy access to stores and attractions. I highly recommend it.

My family and I were very pleased that we had chosen this apartment for our short break in Scotland this year. I couldn't ask for more; clean and cozy rooms with well taken care bathroom and kitchen filled with sufficient items for us to start our holiday. Thank you Jan for being a wonderful host thought we only managed to speak on the phone-:)
Owner response:Dear Azizi and family Many thanks for taking the time to post a reivew for my apartment. It means a great deal to me to know that you have enjoyed your stay, and the fantastic feedback makes my job all the more worthwhile. Hopefully, you will visit us again soon. Best wishes Jan

We enjoyed 4 wonderful days in Edinburgh and part of what made it a great vacation was coming 'home' to this lovely flat each night. It was surprisingly spacious, with all modern conveniences and very clean and comfortable. We were within walking distance of many of the sites we wanted to see (Edinburgh Castle, St. Giles, Royal Mile, Princes Street) and a bus ride to the HMY Britannia. The tourist info center and all the bus tours were also within walking distance. There were so many pubs and restaurants to choose from we were sorry we didn't have more time. The corner deli/grocer was only a couple of blocks away and had everything we could possibly need. We always felt safe even when returning home late at night. Thanks Jan for all your suggestions. We'll be sure to recommend your lovely flat to all our friends.
Owner response:Dear Rob & jane I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay here in Edinburgh. And thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is lovely for me to hear your comments, but also very helpful for future guests making their choice regarding holiday accommodation. Once again, thank you so much, and I hope you can visit again soon. Best wishes Jan

We spent four nights in this lovely apartment recently. It was convenient and the windows provided very good light while the shutters kept out the morning until we were ready to get up. The living space was large enough for four adults to relax comfortably while deciding which of all the wonderful things to do the next day in this charming city. The old town is within walking distance up the hill and the grocery store is around the corner for eating in. Jan was very easy to work with. Our highlight was the three hour free walking tour. It was well worth our time and the tip we gave the guide at the end.
Owner response:Dear Linda Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. It makes all the difference to know that you have enjoyed the flat and your stay here. Thank you so much. Hope you can visit us again soon. Best wishes Jan

Never having been Europe, we were not aware that bath facilities such as no washcloths or hand towels were standard. We had trouble figuring out the microwave. Wished there had been some notes regarding that. We made the mistake of seeing the Bosch clothes washer on the pics, and assumed that there would be a dryer too. There was an interesting rack to dry our clothes, but it took 2 days! We felt somewhat isolated at the apartment with no phone...in case of emergency. Our cell phone was not operable, again not realizing that our cell phone would not work we should have been advised to purchase a temporary cell phone. There were times we wanted to reserve a cab, and had no way of doing that except at a phone booth. The apartment was roomy, quitet and darling, but the carpet had many stains and wasn't cleaned well under the beds and along the edges. The location was good but....a bit farther from Princess Street when we were handling luggage than we had imagined per the descripton. We loved the St Vincent Pub just a few steps away from the apartment and having appetizers and drinks there on our last evening in Edinburgh was a very wonderful memory. We ate at Bella Italia too, and absolutely loved that! We attended the Military Tattoo, and there are no words to describe how awesome that was. The Fringe Festival was going on, which increased the population of the city substantially, but there was so much to see and do. We loved our trip to Fife and St Andrews the most, and enjoyed our trip to Oban via train also!. We saw the most beautiful sunset we have ever seen on our way back.
Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. I have taken your comments on board and have already placed detailed instructions regarding the appliances. As quoted on the website, there is only a washing machine in the apartment. The rack you quoted, is an original victorian drying rack, and I personally like to keep the period feel to the apartment. It has retained its original windows, shutters etc. But I have put in clothes airers which can be used to dry clothes also, so again, thank you for your comments. The carpets are professionally cleaned twice yearly, but of course do get lots of use, so some marks are always going to be visible, particularly as there are cream carpets throughout the apartment. Overall though, it seems you enjoyed your stay and hopefully you will visit our lovely city again soon.

We (2 adults + 3 kids) have stayed at the new town apartement for 4 nights on Aug. Lovely apartment with all the needed amensties. Large windows keep it illuminated even in grey days like we had. Excellent location meant we could walk almost everywhere without the need of a bus. Highly recommended !

My husband and I stayed at the property for a long weekend. The location is excellent for the city centre and lots of amenities only a short walk away. Stockbridge is a lovely area nearby with plenty pubs and restaurants to eat which serves couples and families alike. I will certainly be back and have recommended this property to friends and family.

What a well positioned & cosy flat. We loved getting to know Edinburgh during flu and cold season and were greatful to have a place to retreat and rest between activities. Stockbridge is a friendly neighbourhood. The librarians are wonderful! The flat was toasty and we loved St Stevens chimes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - a wonderful, cosy flat - even in this extreme chill. Most exciting to see snow decorating the city, then come back here to thaw out. Lots of great places to see and things to do. We love it! So lucky to have been able to extend our stay. Thanks for fitting us in. Warmest regards. Lorenz family, Sydney

This apartment was very true to the description. We were able to walk to all major sites in Edinburgh and the apartment comfortable fits at least 5 people. The apartment isn't fancy, but it's practical and was perfect for the 5 of us. Leo's Beanery Coffee shop is delicious and just 2 blocks up. We went there the first day...and everyday after :). Amore Dogs is great for dinner, too.

Jan I am remiss in posting about this apartment which I loved so much in July of 2010. My best friend and I were there to trace my parents life and my own heritage (a dream we wanted to fulfil since we were 12!) We did that, and so much more from this fabulous flat. When I come back this is where I want to stay again. We walked miles everyday and it was wonderful to come back 'home' to this apartment every night. I cannot wait to return!
