The perfect weather, international yet distinctly latin culture, beauty of the colonial town, world class amenities and affordable activites are all a big draw. Manzanillo has remained mostly undeveloped and unspoiled. Jungle vegetation and tropical fruit plantations are still abundant in this part of Mexico. Vast stretches of unspoiled, undeveloped beaches are easily accessible. Unless you choose the the busy pace of life in downtown, you can enjoy a casual, slow and very relaxing vacation. In comparison with other Mexican resorts, dining, shopping, sightseeing and even nightlife are subdued and low key, without the constant shouting from vendors and noise that keep me away from places like Cabo.
Just like a more refined Cabo, one of the major attraction for sports enthusiasts is the fine deep sea fishing available in the Manzanillo area. The Sailfish in the area are wonderful, and catching one would be a real treat for any dedicated fisherman or novice alike. Scuba diving, beach activities, shopping and dining are all worth the time to explore in this pearl of resorts.
The first time I saw the cobblestone streets and bright white buildings of Puerto Las Hadas, I was entranced by how it was tucked against the rocks of La Punta, surrounded by beoganvillas, hibiscus, banana trees and highlighted by crystal blue water. I felt like I was stepping into a fairy tale land, and I was hooked. Being a lover of tropical climates I am drawn to the warm temperatures, sparkling water, playing tennis at the club and having so many amenities within walking distance. Kayaking and scuba diving,
I like the laid-back feeling of the community and charm of a colonial town with cobblestone streets, without the constant noise from street hawkers like in Cabo San Lucas.
So many interesting area such as La Boquita, accesible only by Ponga boat. It has little tents and interesting places to eat and explore.
The restaurants are wonderful, with fresh seafood, excellent chefs and world class service. I always have something to do, such as snorkeling by the shipwrecks or sportfishing with locals who always make sure I come away with a catch. The first time a friend caught a Sailfish it was exhilerating to see the rainbow iridescent colors of the powerful fish moving in the air as he reeled it in.
The Moorish architecture of the city, beautiful doors and white washed buildings boast a mediterranean influence that lures me further into the fairy tale feeling of the city. Thus the name, Las Hadas (The Fairies.)
Although it is peaceful and relaxing, I am reminded of the high class, international allure of this area. It's fun to catch a glimpse of Cher, Carolina Herrera, or Julio Iglesias, as well as people from all around the world. I can enjoy fashion shows and tennis/golf tournaments, or just lounge by the pool undisturbed while reading a book.
This place has everything to offer, whether you are a couple, a family or a group of friends celebrating a special time together.
