Located in Quebec City's upper town (within the stone walls of the city), this 250 year old house offers a superb setting to relax and explore Old Quebec, especially for the 400th Anniversary celebrations of the founding of Quebec, in 2008 !!
The house was built in 1752 by French Marines only a few years before the British conquest of New France in 1759. In fact, the original owner of this house (Louise-Charlotte Métivier) was the sister of the original owner of the twin house next door (Marie-Josephte Métivier). Step back in time and imagine what life was like in 18th century New France !
There are 3 floors plus the basement. The kitchen, dining and living rooms are located on the ground floor with a bedroom, the bathroom, and the mezzanine on the 2nd floor. There is a working wood fireplace in the living room. The 3rd floor is the master bedroom with views of surrounding buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. There is a small finished bedroom in the basement together with a storage/laundry area.
There is an atrium from the dining room on the ground floor to the master bedroom on the 3rd floor, creating the mezzanine on the 2nd floor. This room has a futon that can sleep two extra people and a desk with the computer. The atrium also partially opens the master bedroom on the 3rd floor to the lower levels, making this a very unique space.
There is a parking space behind the house that can also be used as a back yard/patio during the summer. |
