Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
The island is unlike other parts of Florida in which we have vacationed; it's more like the Caribbean - no traffic lights, two-thirds of the island in conservation, no buildings over 3 stories high and nature is revered. 17 miles of beach, much of it pristine and used sparingly, is a joy for walking and watching pelicans and dolphins. Over 20 miles of walking/biking trails cover the entire island, making it easy and safe to bike with kids.

The house is fully equipped for relaxation and family fun. We provide 4 bikes (with more available, if needed), 6 beach chairs, toys for the beach & games for the house. A wireless high speed internet and HD TV in the living room make for a high tech entertainment experience.

Owner's Map of Private Homes
We bought this house in Sanibel in 2004 and used the house as our winter home for two seasons before building a new home nearby. We decided to retain the Yachtsman house as an investment and an overflow residence for family vacations as well. Friends have rented the house for the past few years and enjoyed the relaxed island way of life here. The East End of the island is traffic free (no "Periwinkle crawl" for us) and provides village shops as a daily convenience and treat.
