Then treat yourself to this exceptional home, designed by architect Julia Morgan (of San Simeon fame) and built in 1929 by newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst for his mistress, the late actress Marion Davies, as her summer guest house. Oh, if these walls could talk! Luxuriate in over 4,000 sq. ft. of history in the mansions' spacious rooms and mirrored, red-carpeted staircase. As you slowly descend you will know you are not in Kansas - or wherever you come from - anymore. So take your cue and enjoy.

The house, just off the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), is within walking distance of the BEACH. There is a GOURMET KITCHEN as well as a formal DINING ROOM and large LIVING ROOM with wood burning fireplace. Each bedroom has its own bath. The property is PRIVATE and GATED; the house COMFORTABLE and CLEAN. The decor can best be described as CALIFORNIA CASUAL with cotton linens, soft leather sofas, as well as natural wood floors and beautifully hand carved-furnishings throughout (headboards, mirrors, night tables, etc).

Yes, here you can lounge around in your swimsuit if you like or walk around in your bare feet!!! We also have an extensive 'lending' library - all the classics as well as back issues of Los Angeles Magazine, WIRED, Coastal Living, and Architectural Digest going back 25 years!!! Not that you have come here to read....

The main floor PATIO features a dining and lounge area, as well as a BBQ, and hot tub. On the property there is PARKING for up to four cars (with extra parking next door, if needed). Rental includes all utilities, furnishings, and linens. CONCIERGE, CLEANING, and CATERING services available upon request.

This PRISTINE property is ideal for FAMILY REUNIONS and special occasions of all kinds (graduation, birthdays, anniversaries, etc). It is also coveted as a temporary WORK SPACE and seasonal RETREAT - for writing, for recovery, or for just getting away. Yes, it is the perfect HOME-AWAY-FROM-HOME.

Note that while WEDDINGS are not permitted on the premises the house is IDEAL to accommodate family, friends and guests for that memorable week. Academy Award winners have stayed at the house (including actors, directors, and producers) as well as new, emerging artists.

Note: Attached 1-Bedroom/1-Bath Guest Suite is sometimes available at additional cost and is IDEAL for a COUPLES GETAWAY (as that space can accommodate no more than two people) or as a 'pied-a-terre' for commuters to L.A.

While we receive requests for reservations almost daily we will do our best to accommodate you. Please note that we do not accept deposits nor do we require security deposits, except in special situations. Also, we do not normally book more than 90 days in advance. However, we are happy to pencil in your requested dates and will confirm with an email.
