This place was absolutely wonderful for our recent vacation to Port Aransas. The house was very clean and had nice, up-to-date furnishings. Unlike some vacation homes, you can tell the owners use this and take good care of it. The kitchen is well stocked and all of the appliances and electronics in the home are very nice. There are plenty of linens for the beds and baths and even some toiletries in case you forgot your own. They really have thought of everything! One thing that we enjoyed more than we could have imagined was the beautiful and spacious yard. All of the trees and bushes were in full bloom while we were there and the grass was nice and plush. Our 2 and a half year old absolutely LOVED running around in the yard, especially when we put out a sprinkler for her to run through. All around, this place is very well maintained and we would definitely stay here again over a condo any day. There are neighbors close by, but it feels private because of the landscaping and layout. It's close to the main streets and you could easily walk to the beach if you wanted (unless you're carrying a lot of stuff or have young children). We really enjoyed the Italian food from a restaurant a few blocks away called Seafood and Spaghetti Works. We'd go back there again too!
Owner response:Thank You!

We were in Port A for a winter time get away, and found this to be a restful retreat space on a cold and rainy weekend. We liked being so close to the grocery store, espresso shop, seafood market and art galleries, since the beach this weekend was cold and windy, good for brief visits but not comfortable for all day. This beach town cottage is filled with eye candy, with a tropical garden, a cheerful color palette, and whimsical art work through out the house. We enjoyed cooking fresh seafood in the well appointed kitchen and having coffee in the garden when the sun came out, listening to the gurgling mermaid mermaid fountain. The house seems to be arranged and cared for with love, with special attention to details that make a family more comfortable. We left feeling well rested, refreshed and cared for.
Owner response:Our aim is to provide a relaxed setting for our guests to make the very most of their getaway. We are so very glad you enjoyed your stay.

The house was spacious, with plenty of walking room. No anorexic hallways or rickety staircases. Very refreshing. The location was perfect. The beach was not far and town was less then a hop, skip and a jump. Though it is close to shops, the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. Every appliance and non-food necessity was easy to find and clear directions were located all over to make my stay convenient stress free.

This place is PERFECT! 5 girlfriends and I went down for a little weekend R&R and got just that. You walk in to this bright cheery home and instantly feel like you are on vacation. The house has a great floor plan and is up to date with appliances, and modern amenities. Bedrooms are in the back and living spaces are in the front of the house which is nice if one group wants to chit chat and others want to relax. The kitchen is set up nicely and is very well equipped....definitely conducive for multiple "chefs". The patio is where we spent most of our time at the picnic table or on the swing reading magazines and setting out our next plan. In addition the location is perfect. It is within walking distance from a grocery store, electric car rental (which we did so we wouldn't get our car dirty at the beach) and souvenirs. The beach, retail stores, and restaurants are located less than a mile so also within walking distance. I highly recommend Beach and Station Street Grill for a good lunch and Venetian Hot Plate for a dinner. Both were EXCELLENT!!! This is a great property and my friends and I were planning our next trip back as we were packing up the car on Sunday!

We loved our weekend in this magical little cottage. I say magical because there were dozens of hummingbirds in the backyard! The yard has a privacy fence and is beautifully landscaped with a patio and running fountain. Inside there's lots of natural light from skylights. The place is a short walk to anywhere you want to go and has a garage for your car. The owner is friendly and responsive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to friends and family. Wonderful! The listing was accurate,

This is just a perfectly situated rental in Port Aransas. It's close to the beach as well as restaurants and shops. The house itself is just perfect...3 bedrooms and 2 baths, large kitchen, screened-in porch, and large backyard with hammock and barbeque. It's tastefully decorated, and the owner has the house stocked with things you might need for your trip (boogie boards, hats, as well as first aid kit materials). My family thoroughly enjoyed the stay...very relaxing! For the high tech folks, this place is for you. It has a flat screen TV, DVD, IPOD speakers, and wifi modem. Very highly recommended!

This very charming beach cottage was exactly the retreat my family hoped for. We have two small children and found the house to be very accommodating and extremely clean. We also brought the dogs - they loved the big yard and short hop to the beach! The decor is beachy chic and all the fixtures, finishes and appliances are upscale. The location is great for walking to both the beach and to the various shops/restaurants around town. The yard is fantastic and after looking around we discovered what a rare thing a yard like this is to find in the area. You just have everything you need to be right at home here and I cannot say enough good things about this property.

We had a wonderful time in Port Aransas and enjoyed staying in your charming home. It was great to be so near the beach and yet have a secluded and quiet place at the end of the day. Your yard is so inviting and the dogs especially loved it. Kathy Bellamy

This was our 1st visit to "Port A," and we "landed" here because Hurricane Ike demolished the rental we reserved in Galveston. And it couldn't have been a better change. "Port A" is a quaint port town, full of personality. It's very unpretentious & laid-back. (It's definitely NOT the place to go if you're looking for hustle/bustle & expensive condos.) Paula's house was well-stocked. The yard was wonderful for my two dogs. The house is strategically located equidistant from beach and center of town. There's a grocery & liquor store less than .25 mi. away. The yard was enjoyable except for mosquitoes as large as sparrows (definitely not Paula's fault!)--and she provided ample repellant & sun screen. Only complaints: coffee pot only makes 4 cups (a little too small for us!) & oven & microwave are pretty old (didn't heat quickly or to proper temperatures, but the kitchen has a thermometer for the oven). The candles were a nice touch, and the large screen TV in the front room was great. We saw hermit crabs on the beach, dolphins and tons of birds. We had a great burger for lunch at Trout St. & wonderful fish at Fins for dinner.
Owner response:since this entry the old stove has been replaced with a new frigidaire stainless steel convection oven! there is a larger coffee pot hiding in the pantry- i guess i should let y'all know. complete remodel as of 4/09.

The beach house was very nicely decorated and at the same time very comfortable. There were tons of beach toys available for our use - that meant less to pack!! The beds were very comfy! The only thing I would improve on would be the towels. They were a little old. The location was great and near everything! We have young kids so we didn't walk to the beach but the beach is within walking distance. We had a great time and hope to be back to the island soon!

Absolutely the best home to rent! The owners have thought of everything and make your stay one that you can enjoy. The owners were most responsive and accommodating people I've ever dealt with for renting a vacation rental. They have certainly taken time and effort to make their home ideal for other families & couples. In addition; their description and images are perfect - they really show the traveler what to expect. I would recommend this home to anyone interested to visit Port Aransas. You can truly park your car in the driveway and walk the rest of your stay! 2 blocks from the grocery store, a short distance to the beach! I can't wait to go back, I will certainly rent this home again (and again!)

Ideal Port Aransas vacation rental! Perfect for families or couple looking to getaway from it all! This home is centrally located to the beach and town; you can park your car in the driveway and walk the whole time you're there (or ride the bikes). We loved this rental and can't wait to get back. Paula has thought of everything for this home, you can unpack your clothes and relax! The entire property (yard & inside) are comfortable and you will feel at home!

The house is laid out so well, it just feels "right" for a couple or a group. It makes it easy to have "together" time, but allows for privacy too. It is beautifully decorated and everything you could need to have a fantastic time is supplied. It's very comfortable. Our dogs went into "island mode" right away! The location is very convenient so you can really make the most of your vacation time. Even the yard is like an oasis, very private and landscaped with hibiscus bushes of every color imaginable. We have stayed at other Port Aransas locations and this rental was miles above the rest. My family will definately come back to this house again. The owners were so helpful and generous. We had a great time and wished we could've stayed longer!

We LOVED this beach house. It was clean and well maintained. The fenced-in backyard was perfect for the kids and the dog. The location was ideal for walking to town and to the beach. It was the right price. And it was actually very pretty and nicely decorated inside and out.

I have stayed in LOTS of these sort of vacation rentals. This one is one of the best. Tons of room. Really cute. Clean. Cleverly decorated. That outside yard with the trees and plants really makes you feel like you're in your own little hideaway. Every amenity listed is right on target. Really great rental. Great experience. Will visit again.

Paula - We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at your lovely house. It was a great place for family get together and we are already talking about doing a "girls weekend". We walked to the beach, the jetties, the restaurants, grocery stores and bars. And the large fenced yard gave lots of privacy and a great place for our dogs to enjoy the beautiful weather. We'll definitely rent again.

If you want to feel like you're at home while vacationing in Port Aransas, this is the place to stay! We found everything as pictured and listed, even better than we had imagined it. Great attention to details, such as quality shampoo in the bathroom and fluffy towels. We were never able to say, "I wish we had...," because it was all there. The house, the furnishings, kitchen items, linens--actually everything--were all like new. The beds are very comfortable. Convenient central location; everything in Port A is close by. It's only a block or so to the IGA store, which is like a small Walmart, where we even found my favorite Texas wine. The beach is gorgeous and there is so much to do we wished we had planned to stay more than 3 nights. Check out the drawers in the living room coffee table, where you'll find maps, information and brochures--all you need to plan your fun. We'll be back! And we're telling our friends this is the place to go on the Texas coast.
