We do Friday to Friday rental weeks in order to save you wasted hours in the weekend traffic. The entire island (400,000+) turns over on Sat & Sun and is funneled into 2 roads. You'll coast in on Friday, do your shopping and be hanging around the pool while the other 400,000 are stuck in traffic.
The rate you see is the full total that you pay. We do not add on another 20 % of taxes and service fees like other companies, we have already built that into our pricing so that what you see is what you pay.
This home is located only 2.2 miles up the beach in the four wheel drive territory of Corolla and less than 10 minutes from the Food Lion shopping complex offering unlimited shopping, restaurants, bars, golf, etc. The local gas station/store can be accessed in less than 5 minutes.
Rated best undiscovered beach.: Amenities include elevator, Large heated salt-water pool, Kiddie pool, 2 hot tubs, gourmet kitchen and so much more. Seclusion with easy accessibility is the main ingredients for this fabulous mansion. But most of all you stay with us will help you forget how to work and remember how to play and have fun again.
If you're in the mood for a beach drive, the Virginia border is a 14-mile jaunt North. Drive carefully; the beach is visited by sea turtles, seals resting on their migration, etc. Dolphin sightings are common; whale sightings are much less common.

Things to do: Locally, you may want to visit the Whalehead Club at the lighthouse, a turn of the Century hunting 'camp.' Somebody recently asked me what I would do if I won the lottery. In reply, I said I would buy Sunnybank. From sunrise in bed to sunset in the new seafood bar - Sunnybank is paradise. Such an amazing place! We had the most wonderful time at this gorgeous compound. The house is perfect, the views incredible, and the owners warm and accommodating. We just returned back from a wonderful, relaxing vacation at Sunnybank. The home was beautifully decorated inside and kept very clean. I was surprised actually how clean it was as we’ve rented many different vacation homes over the years when we travel and the décor is always dusty and such. But not here. Very well kept. The outdoor areas were AWESOME. The kids loved the huge pool! We played ping pong and pool everyday also. You have an amazing view of both the sunsets over the sound at night and the ocean sunrise. We walked to the beach everyday – it was a very short walk. The horses were a great bonus. We didn’t think we’d see any, but we did, almost daily! We were worried about beach driving BUT it was just fine. We followed the recommendations and it was actually very fun. We drove to the Virginia border one day just to see the rest of the beach. There are a lot of neat little nooks and crannies outside and it was fun discovering them all. The kitchen was the best furnished kitchen that we’ve ever had with a rental. They had everything we need and much much more. Usually houses are furnished with only the bare minimum but not here. Excellent vacation. Very relaxing.Owner response: Thank you so very much for the grand report. I have a full time change over staff that spend the entire day there cleaning and it shows. Our group returned to Sunnybank for the second year and had a wonderful, relaxing week. We are learning our way around the OBX and realize that Sunnybank's location is absolutely "the best"! You have the best view of the ocean looking East and a magnificent view of the bay looking West. Sunnybank continues to be beautifully maintained. You are surrounded with comfortable elegance. Once again, those who like to cook had a wonderful time in the spacious, well-appointed kitchen. The wild horses of Corolla provided some of our most memorable experiences, "right outside your window". What we really appreciated this year were the new screened-in porches. The restaurants are great - try Elizabeth's Cafe and Winery. We are already looking forward to next year. I have been going to the OBX for over 25 years and I must say that the “Sunnybank”, is by far, the best vacation home that we’ve been too. It’s decorated beautifully, has every ammendity under the sun (and then some). They really know their business when it comes to designing and creating a beautiful vacation home away from home! The home was very clean, well maintained and so well decorated that it gave me and my family a feeling of being at home and not at some rental furnished vacation home. It was very cozy, extremely comfortable and furnished to the tilt with everything we could imagine. Even though there was a slight electrical problem, the property manager John did everything he could to remedy the problem in a fast and convenient manner. I can’t say enough about John. Friendly... knowledgeable... helpful... an all around good person that wanted to make sure that we had a great vacation! “What a great guy!” Even Brett the electrician that came and fixed the problem was great! Very personable and knowledgeable. I’ve dealt with other realty companies in the past when there was a problem, and none of them handled the situation as well as their team. They should be commended along with the cleaning crew. Views...views...views! Everywhere you look there’s breathtaking views. From watching the sun rise in the morning over the ocean, to watching the sun set over the sound and the dune in the evenings. There's great views from every deck and room in “Sunnybank”, and my fiancé can attest to that, she took over 2300 pictures! In closing I would like to say a big “thank you” to the owners of the “Sunnybank” for making our 2012 family vacation a huge success!!!! The “Sunnybank” is definitely at the top of my most treasured vacation memories and I'll definitely be returning next year with my family.Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to let us know how much you enjoyed your stay at Sunnybank. This property is absolutely amazing, it has everything anyone could possibly want on a beach vacation. This was my 5th stay at Sunnybank and it was just as amazing as the first. The property has so much to offer, it is very well kept I am beginning to think of it as my home away from home. This was the first visit for my boyfriend and he couldn't believe that it was ours for the week. We spent the week with great friends enjoying drinks by the pool & jacuzzis. Sunnybank is the most beautiful and well thought out beach house we have ever enjoyed. From the salt water pool to the steam showers, to the incredible billiard room...the adults had a beach playground well worth every penny. And the kids were happy too. There was a castle and battle ship, there were toys and boogie boards and ping pong tables...once we stocked up on groceries there was not need to leave...and if I had my way I would still be there. Our week here at Sunnybank has been nothing short of absolutely memorable...we have been here since last Friday and are very sad that we have to leave tomorrow! We decided to come down to the OBX with our 2 English Labs to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary this year and after tons of research on which home to select to spend the week in, we are so grateful that we chose this gorgeous property. The home is truly magnificent and has everything you could possibly think to want for a memorable vacation. We have stayed further up the beach in the 4WD section in the past and much prefer Sunnybank's location which is far enough "away from it all" but still close enough to the shops in Corolla if you get cabin fever. The bedroom we are staying in allows for views both of the sound as well as the ocean - which is so very unique. The stunning kitchen MAKES you want to cook! There is a room dedicated to steaming seafood (which we did not do) which is enclosed with windows and also has granite countertops/bar stools – we got hard crabs from in town one evening & sat in there to eat while watching the sunset over the sound – we both commented that it was like eating in our own private waterfront restaurant! The property has everything you could want to spend a day at the beach as well – chairs, umbrellas, rafts, etc. – which is great considering you do not have to worry about stopping in town to rent those items for your week. We only wish it was a little warmer outside so that we could have spent more time on the beach. Our dogs did not mind the cooler temps however – to watch them chase seagulls in the surf all week was one of the highlights of our stay. The main living room is beautifully decorated (as is the entire property) and is very cozy to hang out in at night while watching movies or listening to the stereo – there are plenty of DVD's/VHS tapes here to keep you busy as well as a lot of fun board games. My husband particularly loved the flat screen tv which had satellite channels. We definitely want to make a return trip here very soon and bring some more members of our family. This was our 6th year returning to Sunnybank. We have never been disapponted. The mansion is always kept spotless & the staff could not be friendlier. I can't think of one amenity we were ever without. Even our dog Sammy gets spoiled with all the luxuaries. Great vacation at this beautiful ocean front mansion. Our family had a really great time here. Everything was really clean and the amenities are great. We were able to enjoy the sunrise off the deck as well as the wild horses on the beach off the deck and from the hot tub. The private swimming pool was really nice for those days that we didn't wanna get sandy on the beach. Our vacation was perfect and we are looking forward for another trip next year. Why the Owner Chose Carova Beach:
We love water and the ocean so when we found Sunnybank on 3 oceanfront acres it was perfect. Lac Perdu (Lost Lake)with our ramshackle lodge and cabins in remote Quebec Canada is about as opposite as you can get from the luxury of Sunnybank's Victorian Mansion but we would be hard pressed to say which place we enjoy more.
