Sunnybank is a magnificent oceanfront wild horse estate.
We run a Friday to Friday week in order to save you wasted hours in the weekend traffic. The entire island (400,000+) turns over on Saturday and Sunday and is funneled into 2 roads. You'll coast in on Friday, do your shopping and be hanging around the pool while the other 400,000 are stuck in traffic.
The rates you see are what you pay. We do not add in another 20% for taxes and service fees like other companies do.
Our wild horse herd helps make Sunnybank the most unique property on the Eastern Seaboard. Away from the hustle and bustle of the in town resort areas our Northern Beaches offer a more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Our turnkey Oceanfront Majestic Estate compound with 5 bedroom suites includes all the Toys, Kayaks, Surf and Boogie Boards to make your holiday with us the best ever!
This home is located only 2.2 miles up the beach in the four wheel drive territory of Corolla and less than 10 minutes from the Food Lion shopping complex. Amenities include elevator, large heated salt-water pool, Kiddie pool, 2 hot tubs, gourmet kitchen and so much more. Seclusion with easy accessibility is the main ingredients for this fabulous mansion.

Why the Owner Chose Carova
We love water and the ocean so when we found Sunnybank on 3 oceanfront acres it was perfect. Lac Perdu (Lost Lake)with our ramshackle lodge and cabins in remote Quebec Canada is about as opposite as you can get from the luxury of Sunnybank's Victorian Mansion but we would be hard pressed to say which place we enjoy more.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We enjoy the beautiful Sunrises and Sunsets the most in addition to the the big pond (Ocean) out front and the sound in the back. The wild horses are fantastic as well.

We are definitely country people and most of the year live on a couple hundred acres in PA raising beautiful, loving Portuguese Water Dog Puppies. Our summer family vacations are sometimes at Sunnybank our unique OBX home. But we especially enjoy family trip to our Quebec Territory in Canada which is God's country. Our private lake has 88 miles of shoreline and is only float plane accessible.

Somebody recently asked me what I would do if I won the lottery. In reply, I said I would buy Sunnybank. From sunrise in bed to sunset in the new seafood bar - Sunnybank is paradise. It is so perfect, we sre renewing our wedding vows there this year!

Sunnybank is the most beautiful and well thought out beach house we have ever enjoyed. From the salt water pool to the steam showers, to the incredible billiard room...the adults had a beach playground well worth every penny. And the kids were happy too. There was a castle and battle ship, there were toys and boogie boards and ping pong tables...once we stocked up on groceries there was not need to leave...and if I had my way I would still be there. This is a fairy tale beach house for a once in a life time vacation. Thanks Karen and Mike...we had a blast!

Our week here at Sunnybank has been nothing short of absolutely memorable...we have been here since last Friday and are very sad that we have to leave tomorrow! We decided to come down to the OBX with our 2 English Labs to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary this year and after tons of research on which home to select to spend the week in, we are so grateful that we chose this gorgeous property. The home is truly magnificent and has everything you could possibly think to want for a memorable vacation. We have stayed further up the beach in the 4WD section in the past and much prefer Sunnybank's location which is far enough "away from it all" but still close enough to the shops in Corolla if you get cabin fever. The bedroom we are staying in allows for views both of the sound as well as the ocean - which is so very unique. The stunning kitchen MAKES you want to cook! There is a room dedicated to steaming seafood (which we did not do) which is enclosed with windows and also has granite countertops/bar stools – we got hard crabs from in town one evening & sat in there to eat while watching the sunset over the sound – we both commented that it was like eating in our own private waterfront restaurant! The property has everything you could want to spend a day at the beach as well – chairs, umbrellas, rafts, etc. – which is great considering you do not have to worry about stopping in town to rent those items for your week. We only wish it was a little warmer outside so that we could have spent more time on the beach. Our dogs did not mind the cooler temps however – to watch them chase seagulls in the surf all week was one of the highlights of our stay. The main living room is beautifully decorated (as is the entire property) and is very cozy to hang out in at night while watching movies or listening to the stereo – there are plenty of DVD's/VHS tapes here to keep you busy as well as a lot of fun board games. My husband particularly loved the flat screen tv which had satellite channels. We definitely want to make a return trip here very soon and bring some more members of our family. Thank you Karen & Mike for helping us to have what will surely go down as one of the most memorable, relaxing vacations of our life!

This was our 6th year returning to Sunnybank. We have never been disapponted. The mansion is always kept spotless & the staff could not be friendlier. I can't think of one amenity we were ever without. Even our dog Sammy gets spoiled with all the luxuaries. Just pack your smiles & enjoy!

Great vacation at this beautiful ocean front mansion. Our family had a really great time here. Everything was really clean and the amenities are great. We were able to enjoy the sunrise off the deck as well as the wild horses on the beach off the deck and from the hot tub. The private swimming pool was really nice for those days that we didn't wanna get sandy on the beach. Our vacation was perfect and we are looking forward for another trip next year. Thank you.

Our family has spent 4 vacations at Sunnybank over the last 5 years, and we hope it will be a summer tradition for many years to come. We have 4 grown children and 2 grandkids, so with spouses/significant others, the compound is the perfect size! The additional master suite above the game room/bar is a great getaway for my husband and I, and the house offers abundant room for everyone! Everything is graciously decorated with all of the comforts of home. Views are beautiful. We spend one day during the week on an excursion away from Sunnybank, but would be just as happy to never leave it! The dune behind the house is amazing, and we love spending an evening on it for family photos. My whole family would agree that there is no place we'd rather be than here - it just doesn't get any better. Karen makes it even more enjoyable with so many personal touches/communications. Could'nt want for more from a vacation home. At every turn there was just everthing our friends family wanted or needed...Awesome home...Decor is over the top... Salt pool was wonderful...Beautiful views of the dunes and ocean! We even had a visit from a few wild horses ! A five star vacation for us ...Thank you!! We will be back next year for sure :{)

We've been coming here once (if not twice) a year since 2005 and it just keeps getting better and better! I have a high stress job, and as soon as I hit the 4x4 beach, the stress melts away and I feel like I am home. We were here on "Doomsday, 5/21/2011" and I couldn't think of a better place to be if it all came to an end. But of course, it didn't and once again a great time was had by all. I couldn't recommend Sunnybank more! Until the next time....

My husband and I are extremely busy and rarely have time for a vacation. Well, we definitely picked the perfect place for absolute relaxation. The house is beautiful and the drive on the beach was a real adventure. We brought our 2 dogs and I'm pretty sure they have been trying to tell me they are ready to go back.
