Our family spent close to a week at this wonderful cottage. The cottage has everything you would need, the kitchen is fully stocked and there is a washer/dryer; the beds are incredible comfortable. With the beautiful surroundings everyday is gift. It is a quiet area on the lake and you have plenty of privacy. If you want to truly enjoy your vacation this is the place to be. We were taking our Son to Interlochen Academy and you can see the school across the lake as well as get to the school within 5 minutes. It was a perfect place and perfect location! Anita is also a very special person; you can see it in how she communicates with you and how beautiful she maintains the property and cottage. You are a lucky person if you stay here. I hope we are back many many times!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Had a very peaceful and relaxing week with my family at this charming home on Green Lake. The area is very quiet and friendly. The cottage offers so many conveniences of home, you don't have to bring so much from home. The lake front gardens are very pretty and the view is beautiful! Anita was very accommodating and accessible. What is so nice about Interlochen is the location. It is close to so many quaint villages and towns. A short trip up the Leelanau Peninsula takes you to wonderful shops and wineries. There are so many activities around the area for all ages. Our plans are to return again and again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Bree's Cottage was a heavenly retreat after a long journey from the Philippines. Anita made us feel terrifically welcome from before our departure and throughout our stay and departure. The cottage is lovingly decorated, and little personal touches can be found throughout the cottage, including lots of momentos and informative books from China! My daughter attended summer camp at Interlochen, and I would recommend it for international families who wish to be close by. Those used to bustling cities may find the location and privacy a little daunting, but the peace, beauty and particular charm of the cottage, lake and area are infectious. For Asian travelers, Tom's Marketplace, which is five minutes away caries Lee Kum Kee chilli sauce!! and other basics for the Asian palate. Oryana's Natural Foods in Traverse City offers a range of other necessities for organic food lovers. The well-functioning internet is a real bonus and I could not have taken the cottage without it! Those who like hard beds will find its lovely to sleep on the futon by the patio door which offers sterling sunrise views over Interlochen. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped, though you'll find yourself veering to barbequed meals outdoors! Rice lovers, note that you'll need to cook rice in a pot. The photos and description are accurate but don't convey fully the special charm of this lovely cottage. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to experience the charm of a Great Lakes cottage. Bring your ipad stocked with books and movies, though there are DVDs and books at the cottage.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I have spent two vacations at this beautiful property. It is most welcoming, peaceful and offering many activities. I had a wonderful time taking tours of the country, vineyards, the famous "Moomers" ice cream farm, Traverse City, Glen Arbor and much more. I enjoyed walks in the forest and swimming in the lake The house is charming and very clean, it offers everything one might need, including Wi-Fi and movies I am looking forward to my next visit, Thank you, AnitaDid you find this review helpful? My family had a wonderful time at this idyllic place. The cottage is clean and lovely. Well appointed and perfectly situated on a beautiful lake with an enchanting view. It's roomy and so cheery, beautifully decorated, open and spacious. Thanks for a fabulous backdrop for our annual get-away in one of our favorite parts of the state. We'll be back next year! We have been to many cottages in this area over the years and the Brees Cottage was above all the others. We felt like we were in our own home and all of our needs were met by Anita. The views from the main area and our master bedroom were spectacular due to the full sliding doors to the lake. The grounds were so beautiful, the flower gardens, tall trees and the patio with lots of seating. The hammock was an added bonus, nestled in the trees with a view of the lake. The convenience of being so close to other cities was also wonderful. We will highly recommend Anita's place to our friends' and family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We thoroughly loved our two weeks in your well appointed home "Up North". The indoor space, the outdoor space, and Green Lake were so enjoyed. It is the perfect spot to explore the Old Mission, the Leelaunau Peninsula, and we had a ball kayaking the Betsy River. Be sure to hear a concert at Interlochen, and spend time browsing the cottage library. The welcoming bottle of wine was a fantastic touch which we drank while watching the ducks on the lake! Michigan perfection!!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I really must preface my review by saying that the pictures don't do this charming lake house justice -- while they show how quaint it is, they really don't reveal that it's also very elegantly decorated. It's really appointed with the care and attention of a nice beach condo. And that holds true for the backyard too: huge lot that was great for the kids to use to play a little soccer (and could be used equally well with a collapsible volleyball net or for a lawn party). It also features a pretty garden with charming pathways along both sides of the house. The owner, Anita, was pleasant and very responsive. It really felt like a steal at 1300x week -- two full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and 2 very sleepable couches meant that we fit our family of 6 nicely. Perfect place for trips to Interlochen and close enough to Traverse City without the touristy feel of Traverse City hotels/rentals. With a grocery store less than a mile away we found it perfect for tons of grill-outs. And when we wanted to eat-out there were plenty of places nearby (my kids insist that I mention the Hofbrau's chicken wings!), or a short ride away in Traverse. Definitely would recommend for others.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My brother, sister-in-law, husband and I just returned from a week and a half stay at this delightful cottage. We use VRBO properties often when we travel and have not yet been disappointed with our choices. We were pleased wtih the clean, bright cottage and were actually surprised that the property was more appealing even than the pictures. We had the opportunity to meet the owner and one of the cleaning staff she employs.....both were just as friendly and helpful as could be. This property was very well supplied with essentials, and we appreciated this greatly. Grilling out in the evening in the lovely back yard while listening to music drifting over the lake from Interlochen Arts Center was such fun. Hope to get back there again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We just got back from our vacation at the cottage and all we can say is WOW! It was everything we wanted and more. This was our first trip to Michigan so our search started back in the Winter to find a place. This was the first time we had used a vacation website to find a vacation home. We looked at a number of properties and took our time searching. We settled on this property for its looks and location. The moment we walked into the cottage it felt like home. Beautifully decorated. The lake was clean and great for swimming. Close to Sleeping Bear Dunes. Lets not forget the great location across the lake from the Interlochen Academy. You can actually here some of the performances at night! I would highly recommend this cottage. Our kids are begging us to go back again! It was a perfect vacation. The owner was friendly and quick to accommodate any problems - not that we had any. If you are considering other properties, stop your search. You've found your place!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: While we live in the Detroit-Birmingham, Mi area, our favorite thing to do is spending time at the cottage, visiting the Interlochen Arts Academy and Traverse city and exploring all the charming small towns and villages in the area.
Why the Owner Chose Interlochen:
We looked for a charming summer cottage that would be on a beautiful lake, very private, and close to Interlochen Arts Academy, with its many faceted programs. We also wanted to be close to golf courses and near Traverse City and its varied offering of good restaurants and fun activities. When we found this cottage, it took us but one quick look to decide that this was all we have hoped for. It has been an excellent choice and our family has spent many happy hours here.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Swimming and kayaking in the privacy of our beautiful cottage, breakfasts and barbecues overlooking the water, a wonderful concert at Interlochen Arts Academy, trips to other small towns and the wineries in the area and an occasional golf game just minutes from home make our trips to the cottage a delightful and rich experience every time we stay there.
