Waterfront Beach House/Stunning Views - Coho Beach House
Year Purchased: 2004
Why the Owner Chose Ketchikan
Three of us are life-long Alaskans, and the third has been here since 1979, so this is home for us. The particular location of the beach house is known in the community as having the best sunsets in the area. The beach house was built in the late 1940's or early 50's and had been well used and loved by many, but it was in dire need of repair. We considered demolishing it, but instead rebuilt it from the pilings to the roof. The interior layout remains the same, but it's much more comfortable now. It was truly a labor of love, and we love to share its charm with our guests.
The Unique Benefits at this Waterfront Vacation House
There's a magical feeling when you're at the beach house. Seeing marine life swim right under the deck; enjoying the weather and views (rain or shine) from the deck or inside from any room; the passing boats and sea planes all lend to the pleasure at this home away from home.
Owner's Map of Ketchikan
Friends for 40 years, partners in Coho Beach house since 2004. The Odells and the Hooks dreamed of living near the water for years, and when they became owners of this property it was a dream come true. Both couples live on "The Point" by the beach house, and are available if needed, but also respect the privacy of guests.

We enjoyed our adventure to Ketchikan. Your guesthouse is so warm and cozy, it was nice to come “home” to at the end of the day. It has been so relaxing and awesome. We were able to see some wonderful wildlife while sitting at the house such as Killer Whales (thanks to Dan for the call), seals, starfish and a few Bald Eagles. Our timing for our trip did limit our ability to enjoy many of the tourist attractions, but being able to sit and look at such a wonderful view made up for it since I’m not sure we would have wanted to be gone a lot anyway. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of heaven. We will be back.

What a great retreat for a local couple. We loved this restful, peaceful, beautiful evening away from the ordinariness of daily life. So beautiful to perch above the water with a 300 degree window view and just gaze. Last night I woke up as a majestic ferry all-lit glided by in the mist. As I write this, a cruise ship is emerging from the mist to the north. I would recommend this to all my friends. Come to the edge of town to this little quiet place with your spouse. Take time to appreciate the beauty of our town. Take time to enjoy uninterrupted time with each other. Thank you for donating this auction item to Public Radio. Your gift supported KRBD and also generously allowed local friends to share the pleasure of your beach property. p.s. I love the arrangement of pictures, post cards and chart in the window frame. So cool to see the before and after views.

Thank you for sharing your paradise on the point with us this week. It was marvelously restful to watch the tides come in and out between our hiking adventures. Our favorites were Perseverance Lake and Lunch Creek, up above the salmon. Views at the little Settler’s Cove loop were great too. We were lucky enough to hit Mud Bight on a deserted, no cruise ship day, and watched some seals frolicking in the kelp. A local’s advice to visit Herring Cove at dusk let us check the last of our Alaska Wildlife boxes, a bear, last night. Thanks for the humpback call – we missed that one but saw several of its friends on the ferry ride in. Most importantly, we really appreciate your tasteful and thorough provisioning of this haven. You’ve hit everything just right with all the right thoughtful additions. Thanks for making us feel so comfortable for our 40th birthday.

We enjoyed our stay here. What a wonderful way to spend a vacation. We got some good pictures from the deck. We liked looking at the books about Alaska, there was a good selection. We will most likely rent the house again because we do plan on coming back to visit with the kids. It was nice to be close but still have our quiet time. Thanks so much, Vicky & Dave

This house was a blessing. Upon entering the front door, we felt peace. The first night we lay in bed and wished we could just “pick it up” and take it to N.C. Our last night gave us a beautiful sunset… Thanks for all your kindness. This place is truly blessed by God.

Where do we begin? Celebrating our 10-year anniversary here in Alaska! First of all, the house is great! Absolutely love the big windows all around. The eagles flying above and seals swimming below. And we did see the sea lion – took some pictures of him too! … The sunsets are absolutely stunning… I think I took approx. 30 pictures of just that alone. You all are very blessed to have such a wonderful place. If we get to come back, we would pick this place again!
