This is one of the rare corner units at Maalaea Yacht Marina, on the second floor. Big windows wrap the corner, so even from the kitchen, the view is stunning. You can easily host dinner for six at the big lanai table. All new kitchen with beautiful cabinets and appliances, new tiled walk-in shower, new carpet, new furnishings! Many upgrades, including better beds with Egyptian cotton sheets, air conditioning, hand-held shower massage, plenty of towels, as this is our second home. We just added a broadband connection... bring your notebook computer along!
Yes, there is wind in Maalaea. But you are sheltered on the lanai and can enjoy the views all day. We will gladly trade the traffic and congestion in Kihei for the quiet residential feel in Maalaea, and we very much enjoy that second glass of wine at Buzz's Wharf without risking a traffic stop on the way home. There are four excellent restaurants within a short walk.
ABOUT CANE FIELD BURNING: The last burn close to Maalaea was June 2007, and won't happen again until about June 2009 (it's a 2-year cycle). There is a small beach inside the breakwater, but you can walk to the end of Hau'oli Road to the four mile beach (it's about 1/2 mile and there is parking should you choose to drive). Great for walking, swimming, and snorkeling. But you can watch surfers challenging Freight Train, a shore break known for it's speed and intensity, from your comfortable lanai seat!
Besides the Maalaea Grill, Waterfront Restaurant, Buzz's Wharf, and Seascape Restaurant, there are the new Maui Ocean Center, several boutiques (check out the Tommy Bahama clearance rack at Moon Bow Tropics), Maui Dive Shop, Whaler's General Store, ice cream and gourmet coffee. Carl's Junior is at the highway intersection, and there are miniature golf and bumper boats. You can catch the Maui Bus ($1 per transfer) at the Pacific Whale Foundation Store if you'd rather not drive to Lahaina, Kaahumanu Mall, Wailea, etc.
We have owned vacation rental on Maui for over seven years. We visit frequently and keep our property clean and in good repair. We also have on-island managment you can call if you encounter a problem. |
