The Birdsong cottage was the highlight of the trip to Kaua'i -- absolutely loved everything about it, from the secluded location, the outdoor shower and huge tub, the beautiful grounds, the decor and the vibe, which was authentic and relaxing and peaceful. Would love to come back sometime! Highly recommended to "Lonely Planet" type travelers who are looking for something off the beaten path. Aloha!Did you find this review helpful? We stayed at the Birdsong Cottage for five nights in May. It was a perfect place to relax and get away from all the stress of "the mainland." The bed was very comfortable, the cottage was clean, and we loved the outdoor shower. When we told people about the cottage and the rate we paid, they could not believe how good of a deal it was. We prefer this so much more than staying at a big high-rise hotel - there is a feeling of Aloha here. Mahalo to Carole for her help - we will be back!Did you find this review helpful? We simply adored Birdsong Cottage and wish we could have stayed much longer. The privacy, the views, the beautiful surrounding property, the cooling sea breezes, and the well thought out details (especially the corner windows and outdoor tub) make it truly special. We have been recommending it highly to friends and would love to return some day.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We've really enjoyed ourselves at Bird Song Cottage. It filled our need for a good place to be for a week on Kauai - a beautiful setting amidst flowers, fruit, hills and beaches - cozy, simple, comfortable, well equipped, pleasant, with a striking design - a garden spot on the garden isle - away from the traffic and hustle. We especially enjoyed fresh squeezed juices from oranges, grapefruit, and limes many of which we picked ourselves, the library of films, DVD's, eating on the patio, and taking chairs to the beaches. So thanks to Lee & Carole. This was our 40th anniversary trip and will remain memorable always.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent five relaxing days and nights at the Birdsong Cottage. We loved it! The kitchen is fully equipped, and even included an electric juicer so that we could fully enjoy living in a citrus grove for a week. The four-poster bed was extremely comfortable, and we liked the airy, functional design of the building so much that we photographed it for our Architectural student child. The garden tub was a special treat. Carole came to the cottage to give us a yoga lesson; my husband uses the stretches that she taught us every day, and they have really helped his back. We spent several hours of every day sunning and collecting a little coral at nearby Larson's beach, where au natural tourists and locals space their blankets discreetly far apart from one another, watch for whales, and enjoy the sun and the ocean breeze. We really enjoyed our time at Birdsong Cottage, and hope to return there some day.Recommended for: Romantic getaway

We spent a great deal of time researching the perfect place to stay while in Kauai, and when we found Manu Mele, we knew that this was it. And in this case, it more than exceeded our expectations. The cottage is spotless, the kitchen fully stocked with every appliance you could need, and the outdoor shower great. We also made good use of the orchard - doesn't get much better than fresh grapefruit picked just off the tree each morning or freshly squeezed orange juice. The location, while not bang on a beach (we preferred being a little removed from the crowds) is a very easy base from where to explore the rest of the island. We really enjoyed this place, and would unequivocally recommend it. Lee and Carole were really fantastic hosts - when the oven wasn't working, Lee went out of his way to have it immediately fixed, even offering to have us come cook at their place. They made us feel very welcome, and were always available to answer any touristy questions we had. Kauai is in itself a stunning island - and Bird Song Cottage amplified it many times over for us. Thanks Lee and Carole, for a truly memorable stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

The word paradise really sums up our one week stay in the Birdsong Cottage. It was the most magical week of our lives! Our days were spent exploring the island, and then we looked forward to each evening at this romantic hide-away. This cottage has everything you could possibly want, and the best part is the privacy - no pesky tourists here. Can't wait to return... This IS the cottage of paradise! We cherished the privacy shared with the wild jungle roosters & coconut trees high above a view of the sea just minutes below. Carole & Lee keep the space peaceful, relaxed, clean, and inspiring. We cooked everyday for a week, and enjoyed the gifts of the local farmer's market & fresh fish. The outside bathtub & shower are spectacular beside the native flowers & tropical blossoms. We're already planning our next vacation at Birdsong Cottage! Enjoy the luscious jungle trails, the high desert canyon, soft sands of the beach, and beautifully kind warm people on the island. We also recommend getting a massage from Carole, she's the best on the planet! Mahalo!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon stay in this lovely cottage. It was very private, peaceful, comfortably, and relaxing. The fresh fruit was delicious. The cottage was stocked with everything we needed, even boogie boards and snorkel gear that we used at the great beaches nearby. Thank you for a wonderful stay!Did you find this review helpful? Carole and Lee have provided a true escape from reality that will rejuvenate all who stay in their cottage. The view of the ocean from the front door, the outdoor tub, the hammock...need I say more:) Conversations about our honeymoon begin with the cottage and the privacy it provides. Carole and Lee are an amazing couple who make the stay even more memorable. We will be yearly visitors and next time we will spend time with them as this visit we were unable to meet with them. We suggest you do so. Aloha, Brandon and LynneDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Birdsong Cottage is absolutely exquisite, even more beautiful and peaceful than depicted on the website. We enjoyed probably the best vacation we have ever experienced, completely falling in love with Kauai. Hiking the Napali Coast, kayaking, studying the albatross at Kilauea Lighthouse, snorkeling at Hansen's Beach and nearby Queen Emma's Bath, dining at Postcards and cooking at the Cottage after visits to farmer's markets were the highlights. We hope to be lucky enough to return and stay at Manu Mele. Thanks Carole and Lee, for such a lovely experience.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What a lovely week we spent at the Birdsong Cottage. Every morning we sat outside, eating breakfast, enjoying the lovely surroundings(including a peek at the ocean over the horizon) and our friendly neighborhood chickens. And every night we'd sit out marveling at the stars above - something we rarely see back home in the big city. Then, off to bed for another great night's sleep, leaving us rested and ready to explore a new beach the next day. A really wonderful place...Did you find this review helpful? We had an incredibly easy time making this lovely little cottage our home away from home - we just wish it could have been longer than a week! We felt so welcome and at ease in the private, lush surroundings. We really enjoyed the outside shower, relaxing on the patio, swinging in the hammock under the fragrant canopy...and the soaking tub was perfect after a long day hiking! Larson's beach was superb, and just a short car ride and walk away. Sometimes it felt like our own private beach, and on a couple of mornings it was even calm enough to snorkel. We had high hopes for our time at Birdsong Cottage based on the website, outside reviews, and e-mail with Carole. The reality surpassed our hopes. Both the grounds and the cottage were beautiful and very peaceful. We didn't spend too much time at the cottage during the day, but it was SO nice to come home there every night and enjoy the peace. My wife and I have highly recommended Birdsong Cottage to our friends and family, and we hope to make a return trip as soon as possible.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I spend the 1st half of our trip at the Birdsong Cottage and it was just what we were looking for. It was private, remote, and a pleasure to wake up each morning to the birds and sun rising. I would recommend to anyone looking to get away from the resort type hustle and bustle.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent 3 wonderful days at Birdsong Cottage as part of our honeymoon. It is beautiful, peaceful and private. We also arranged an hour long massage and a gourmet catered meal through Carole and her contacts. Hard to say whether that or the citrus orchard and private 3 acres, the hammock under a cool leafy canopy, taking warm baths under the milkyway or just stepping outside each morning to greet the beautiful Hawaiian sunrise was our favorite memory. It was all dreamily enjoyable. Definitely the hightlight of our trip.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Bird Song Cottage was one of the most lovely places we stayed yet. It captures the magic of Kuai, with a beautiful property (very few rentals come with such acreage), complete privacy and fruit literally falling on your doorstep! We highly recommend it and don't miss a massage with Carole (the owner). Her hands and her energy are fantastic.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed at the Bird Song Cottage for the first part of my honeymoon, and it was wonderful! After a day of exploring the island, it was nice to come back to the cozy cottage, cook a hot meal and just relax. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bed is comfy and you won't run out of hot water!! For the price, you can't beat the privacy and comfort of the Bird Song Cottage.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just returned from a 10-day honeymoon spent at the Birdsong Cottage. What a peaceful, private, relaxing way to spend our first days as a married couple! The cottage was beautiful, comfortable, and a welcome haven after days spent exploring the island. MY HUSBAND AND I SPENT OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY AT THE SONG BIRD COTTAGE. WE BROUGHT OUR 18 YEAR OLD SON AND MY MOTHER. WE ALL FOUR HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE IN KAUAI. MY SON FOUND THE POWERLINE ROAD FOR OFF ROADING, MY MOTHER ENJOYED THE BIRDS AND THE ROOSTERS AT THE COTTAGE. MY HUSBAND RELAXED WITHOUT CABLE AND A CELL PHONE WHILE SWINGING IN THE HAMMOCK. I HAD A VACATION OF A LIFETIME SEEING SMILES ON EVERYONES FACE. KAUAI WITH GOD'S BEAUTY OF WATERFALLS, RAINBOWS, FLOWERS, LUSH GREENERY AND FRIENDLY PEOPLE. I REALLY MISSED IT ONCE I GOT HOME AND SAW HOW EVERYONE IS ALWAYS IN A HURRY AND HAS A PHONE CLUED TO THEIR EAR. THE 3 NEIGHBORHOOD DOGS STAYED WITH US MOST OF THE 10 DAYS ONCE THEY HAD BREAKFAST WITH US. THE ROOSTERS STAYED AFTER I BROUGHT BACK FEED FROM SMITH TROPICAL GARDENS AND FED THEM EVERY NIGHT. IN THE EVENINGS WE WOULD WATCH OUR VIDEOES WE HAD MADE ON OUR EXCURSIONS FROM EACH DAY. THANK YOU CAROLE FOR ALLOWING US TO STAY IN YOUR HOME.Did you find this review helpful? Bird Song Cottage was an ideal place for our first trip to Kauai. It was quiet, private, beautiful and peaceful, from the drive up through the coconut palm trees, to the hammock and the back lanai, to the outdoor shower and tub, to the lovely four poster bed. We wouldn't mind staying there on a permanent basis!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The only thing I didn't like about Birdsong Cottage is that I never wanted to leave despite my desire to see more of Kauai. It was the perfect balance of complete privacy and openness to the sky and sea. We had to move to a different abode half way through the trip, and I felt nostalgic for days afterward.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

It is a treat to vacation in such a beautiful setting away from the typical tourists accommodations. This amazing getaway has everything that you would ever want on your Kauai vacation. The guest house sits ideally on a 6 acre piece of property and offers the guest a tranquil environment where relaxation can truly be accomplished. This is by far one of the most amazing rentals on the island for someone looking to experience Kauai to its fullest. The only negative aspect about my trip was finally having to leave.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This was a sublime honeymoon spot. We really felt like we were on our own little island. Although there's so much to do on the island, all we wanted to do was hang-out in the beautiful cottage. We played at the beach, read outside, and cooked wonderful meals in the fully stocked kitchen. The layout makes you feel like you are camping outside, without any of the hardships of camping. We were so glad we didn't stay in a hotel or resort. Someone put a lot of love into this place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This guest cottage felt like a favorite song. It had everything we hoped for: aesthetic beauty inside and out, connection to the land and sea, tropical breezes, comfort, privacy, easy access to stunning beaches, the airport, etc. Every night we went outside and looked up at an unobstructed view of dazzling stars. This place couldn't have been more different than the plastic of resorts we stayed in on our last visit. The owners and caretakers are committed to living in harmony with the land, and we really felt that connection. at the same time, the space and setting felt luxurious: comfortable and close to everything. Perfect for us. We recommend it without reservation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
