Only one kilometer from the center of St. Remy de Provence, our home provides guests the best of all possible worlds. Its a tranquil retreat on a quiet country road yet only a short walk from the heart of St. Remy where one can take full advantage of everything that one of Provence’s most popular towns has to offer.
We bought this stone farm house (or “mas”) seven years ago and lovingly restored it to retain its Provencal charm while at the same time providing modern-day comforts.
The original part of our house features a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room and laundry with a washer and dryer on the first floor, the master bedroom and bathroom on the second floor and in a separate extension two bedroom and bathrooms, both ensuite to ensure the maximum of privacy for our guests and renters. In addition, all three bedrooms are air-conditioned.
Amenities at our house include wireless, high-speed internet service (accessible throughout the house and even beside the pool), satellite TV with BBC, CNN and other English language channels, a flat screen color TV with a DVD player, and a stereo system that is wired to all the public rooms on the ground floor so that you can enjoy music throughout the house.
As comfortable as the house is, you’ll probably want to spend most of your time during the warm weather months outdoors. Enjoy your meals on the covered terrace just off the kitchen, complete with a built-in barbecue. Spend lazy days reading under our tonnelle (a French word for arbor which extends the length of the original structure of our house and is covered with fragrant jasmine, roses and wisteria), or sunbathe alongside our 40 foot, in-ground pool which is salt-water treated (no chlorine).
Want to enjoy St. Remy’s famed Wednesday market but don’t want to deal with the hassles of parking in the congested town? We’re only a five minute walk from the center of the market.
Feel like watching the sun rise from the breathtaking panoramic views of the Alpilles after hiking to the top of the medieval Les Baux de Provence? We’re just a 15 minute ride away.
Or what about taking a day trip to Paris? The Avignon TGV station is just 20 minutes away with non-stop high-speed trains from Avignon to Paris departing (and returning) on the hour – making a day trip to the City of Lights a breeze.
