The property, known as the Captain's Cottage, has a nautical décor to complement its location near the Savannah River, which is one of the busiest ports on the eastern coast of the US. You can hear the ships blow their horns as they come up the river. It's in a quiet neighborhood within sight of a fairytale-like park with Spanish moss draped oak trees surrounded by historic homes. The captain's cottage is a stones throw from the famous Pirate's House Restaurant dating back to the 1700's. You are 2 blocks from River Street, a mecca of shops and restaurants in old cotton warehouses lining a pedestrian friendly shoreline.
You are also within walking distance of antiques shops, boutiques, restaurants, museums, historic churches and Savannah's famous "Squares".
The Captain's Cottage has recently been renovated with modern conveniences such as flat screen TVs and a travertine encased bathroom. The cottage has been designed with upscale furnishings including a 200 year old Chinese chest and original oil paintings. The queen poster bed is luxuriously appointed with four pillows and a down comforter. The original details remain, including exquisite 150 year old heart pine floors, brick walls, fireplaces and high ceilings.
There is not a washer and dryer, but a drop off laundry mat is nearby or arrangements can be made to have your laundry picked up. Hair dryer, iron and board are provided. There is ample on-street parking immediately in front of the cottage.
Your cottage will be stocked with coffee and tea supplies and bottled water and snacks to begin your stay.
Come experience this extraordinary city of graciousness and superb southern cooking in your own historic cottage. |
