Very cute cottage with a great wrap around deck with tropical vegetation. We loved having breakfast outside. Bedrooms are adorable with very comfy beds. Beach towels, chairs and boogie boards in the garage available for use. Living room is on the small side, but who cares if you are spending the day at the beach. Kitchen is well stocked. A concert venue is several blocks from the house so you can hear music on evenings when there are concerts, but they stop playing at 10pm. Owner is very nice and accommodating.

We loved the "cottage" feel of our vacation rental. We stayed for a week with our daughter and our grandson (age 1 1/2). The house was cozy and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us. We used the kitchen for meals and it was well appointed. We often relaxed in the living room and outside on the wrap- around deck. The location was the perfect home base for our outings to downtown, the beach, and parks. We hope to come back again soon!

I worked hard to select the right place for my Santa Barbara retreat. I looked at countless homes and hotels. I am so happy to be able to share this great find with others who are looking for a get away cottage filled with loving touches. Even a kitchen that has fresh olive oil, a carrot peeler and a blender! Really nothing was left unthought of. Every request was quickly filled. I loved the sunny deck space, the colorful painted interior, the cheerful bed quilts. The property was so clean, the bath tub so comfortable, I just wish I lived there!

We spent almost three months in this wonderful cottage and purely enjoyed this lovely place, which made us feel like we were in paradise! The rooms are very bright and delightful with lots of charming details, and the location is simply perfect: being surrounded by tropical plants in the fabulous garden enabled us to relax in privacy and being close to downtown Santa Barbara meant that we could even walk to some of the cafes and restaurants. We would love to come back!

Very good vibe to this cottage. Small but cozy. Nice separation of space when traveling with children. We didn't use the outdoors much, since it rained during our visit. But the inside was a cozy place to curl up and read. There was a concert at the nearby amphitheater one night, which was actually kind of fun to enjoy from afar. In retrospect, wish we had gotten tickets and joined in. Only downside was it wasn't terribly central for walking... we found that we used the car a lot. We ended up renting a bike and enjoyed tooling around the area. Would definitely stay here again. It's a winner.

The Island Getaway was so wonderful to stay at and so close to everything we needed. The cottage is so bright and airy and just absolutely charming. Sitting out on the deck in the evenings and mornings were very relaxing, quiet and peaceful. We so enjoyed our stay and Karen was more than accomodating and everything you need is supplied. We will definitely be coming back again on our next visit to Santa Barbara. Thank you so much for a great place for a great weekend our family loved it :)

Aloha by the Bowl
Aloha by the Bowl
This gem is a great place to kick back on the very private deck, then go enjoy a great show across the street at the beautiful Santa Barbara Bowl. We were instantly charmed by the decor, and it is very generously furnished with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. You will feel the Aloha the moment you step in the door. (Really comfy beds!)

From the moment I walked it, I felt as though I was borrowing a good friend's house. Sweet cottage tucked behind a tall hedge. Everything was bright and full of color. Flowers in every room. Books and a good radio/CD machine. Lots of large fluffy towels. A well stocked kitchen. Two bikes in the garage + boogie boards, beach chairs, and beach towels. And there was more than enough room for visitors. Also only a mile or so from the Saturday farmers' market and State Street...on a bus route. Also less than a block from the Santa Barbara Bowl --. My few calls to the landlords in the first day or so about tiny issues were answered and resolved quickly. I'm planning to come back again and again.

A little slice of paradise
A little slice of paradise
As our adolescent daughter said, this place was a "little slice of paradise". Photos accurately depict the charm of this place, but don't quite capture the warm feeling you'll get when stepping inside the gate! It made for the perfect 5 day get-away for our family of four. Quiet neighborhood, within a nice walk to State St. and a quick walk to "La Super Rica" taqueria--Yum! The cottage was clean and well-cared for, the owners responsive and kind, the overall vibe one of calm, fun and relaxation. We look forward to our next escape to "our" cottage in Santa Barbara!

Why the Owner Chose DownTown:
I saw this adorable cottage one day, and fell in love with it! We struggled to find a way to buy it because we thought it would be so wonderful to have our own little guest house in the town that we adore. We have family and friends out of state who visit frequently. It was so wonderful to realize a dream of owning a vacation rental right here in our home town!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
When we have stayed in our cottage, we have loved the downtown access. We can walk to the main part of downtown, or to Farmer's Market. One of the highlights is having a pre-party on the deck and then walking to a concert at the Santa Barbara Bowl one block away.
