Casa Alta is a three bedroom two bath Mediterranean inspired home located in a charming neighborhood near Napa's downtown. The house has been recently renovated and will welcome you with its gleaming hardwood floors, freshly painted interior and exterior arched doorways and curved ceilings. Each bedroom is appointed with a luxurious queen sized, pillow top mattress, fine linens and cozy bedding. High quality furniture, antiques and many original works of art are around every corner. Sit at the desk where you can make unlimited local and long distance phone calls, plan your day, peruse the guest book or connect your computer to wireless internet access.
Enter the house through your private courtyard shrouded in potted plants, climbing wisteria and Olive Trees. The back yard is a world all it's own with flagstone patio, hot tub, charcoal barbecue, and partially enclosed outdoor dining room and sitting area. If it's cool, light a fire inside or enjoy the outdoor fireplace. Listen to the sound of the fountain running, read a book or take a nap in the outdoor daybed.
Take a ten minute walk to the incredible Oxbow Market, which houses three restaurants, a wine merchant, an actual micro-winery, bakery, tea shop, chocolatier, spices, butcher shop, organic ice cream, olive oil, gifts and more. Catch a trolley from here or continue on to Napa's downtown, where choices abound from day spas, theater, wine tasting rooms and shopping to a plethora of world class restaurants.
Hundreds of wineries are a short drive away, many in the beautiful Carneros region or the Stags Leap wine district, both within five miles. Take flight in a hot air balloon, ride the wine train or hire a tour company to pick you up at Casa Alta and explore.

Casa Alta with Hot Tub ~ Walk to Downtown Napa
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Napa
This was my first home, and I loved it. It had all the things I wanted ~ I was able to walk to town, it had hardwood floors and lots of charm and plenty of space in the backyard. I worked for years to make it just the way that I wanted it. Then I fell in love and moved in with my sweetheart. The house is almost entirely as it was when I enjoyed living there so much.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Walk to the Oxbow Market every morning for fresh pastries, incredible coffees and teas! Relax in the back yard and really settle in. Prepare a wonderful meal and enjoy it on the patio or just share a bottle of wine and some conversation. It's a great, relaxing space with fireplace, daybed, hot tub and flowers.
Owner's Map of Napa
I bought my first vacation rental in 2005. I love traveling and never realized what a great way to vacation it was to stay in homes until I had made the purchase. The Napa Valley is such a wonderful lifestyle, and I am always so excited to share the experience with visitors. Maybe, like me, you'll come for a visit and never leave!

We had a wonderful extended weekend here at Casa Alta. One outstanding feature is the outdoor living area. We dined outside one evening and opened some wine we had purchased during the day. It was so relaxing and comfortable. The beds are quite nice as well. It was absolutely perfect for a "Girl's Trip" but would surely be just as appropriate for couples. The location is great, and it is such fun to feel like a resident, even for just a few days. Casa Alta is a great base from which to enjoy Napa and Sonoma.

We spent 5 days in this house and loved it. The home is well maintained and well appointed. Part of our recreation was being able to come home after wine tasting, getting comfortable and cooking a good meal. so this was much better than staying in a local hotel or bed and breakfast. We stocked up at the local Rallys market for the basics and got some exceptional meats from Brown Valley Market. It was nice to have options to having to go out for meals which we did also. The beds are very comfortable and we slept like babies. The location is quiet and a quick drive to downtown Napa. We picked this location partially because it allows pets. And if you bring your dog do an internet look up dog friendly wineries. With over 400 wineries in the Napa Valley it helped us to choose destinations where we could bring the dog along. All in all a great place to stay, particularly if you have a small group of people.

Our party recently stayed at Casa Alta over the 4th of July weekend. The home is just beautiful and has all of the amenities that any party could ask for. That being said, we enjoyed the outdoor space the best. Between having dinner in the outdoor dining area, or using the hot tub, coming back from the many visits of the day was always enjoyable. Each bedroom was nicely appointed and the beds are comfortable. While one full bathroom is in an odd location (off the kitchen), it worked fine. The other bathroom also is nice enough, if a little small. Each bedroom had a fairly nice sized closet to keep things. One complaint is that the internet was difficult to figure out. We were able to access internet most of the time we needed it, but were never sure if we were stealing someone else's. We did walk to Oxbow Market and Napa. The walk to Oxbow is certainly easy enough and worth it. The walk downtown is slightly farther and may not be for everyone. Overall, we loved this place and would certainly stay here again...in fact, we are already trying to figure out when we can get back. We loved Napa!

Our stay at Casa Alta was a pleasure. The cottage was well appointed with beautiful furnishings joining vintage with new. It was more than adequate for 2 couples. The beds were comfortable and the 2 baths well equipped. We most enjoyed the outside space with the covered area and hot tub. It was great to return from a day of shopping, touring, & wine tasting to the relaxing atmosphere. The walk to Oxbow and on into town is a bit of a hike but doable for those on the front side of age 62. The houses are close but the back fencing does enhance the privacy. The owner has done a wonderful job of keeping this older Napa cottage updated and in excellent shape. We would certainly recommend a stay at Casa Alta to anyone planning a visit to the Napa area. For those without transportation, local buses run right outside with a stop very close and Napa provides local limo rental. Even if a personal car is available, a limo rental is advised for a day long visit to multiple wineries.

The house was great! It's kind of within walking distance of downtown but we chose to drive. If you have a car, parking is not an issue so I wouldn't worry. The rooms were great, the beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice. The backyard is the place to be though! Hot tub, plush covered seating area, and a fireplace! We absolutely loved it and the property owner was a great pleasure to deal with, not one problem the entire trip. Would stay there again and recommend it to anyone I know.

The house was charming, very clean and spacious, comfortable beds and laundry too! The outdoor area was the perfect place to end the day after traveling thru wine country all day. The hot tub and patio area were a favorite place for our group to relax. Having the ability to have breakfast at home saved us money and the neighborhood felt very safe. Whether a girls trip or a couples getaway-I would highly recommend this house.

Traveled as a group (3 couples) to napa valley for vacation. 3 bedrooms/2 baths worked just fine. Size of house great for our group. Great value. Pros: great outdoor space (wonderful table in shaded area), nice size living room/socializing space for group, well equipped kitchen for vacation home, nicely furnished bedrooms. Cons: directly on bus line/busy street near school (was very noisey with windows open, especially in the am when trying to sleep in), renter does not allow hottub use after 9pm during the week and 10pm on weekends (we were on vacation during the week and didn't get home till late, therefore we never got to enjoy the hot tub - silly rule for a vacation property).
Owner response:I'm sorry the guests were not happy about the time restrictions on the hot tub (9PM during the week and 10 PM on Friday and Saturday). The rules are from the City of Napa and relate to the City's noise ordinance. They apply to all vacation rentals. The house is in a residential neighborhood, but the street gets a fair amount of traffic. There is one bus that runs once per hour from 7 AM to 6 PM daily. There is an elementary school close by. It would be difficult to sleep in past 8:00 during the week with the windows open. The bedrooms do have ceiling fans and the house has central heating and air conditioning to keep you comfortable with the windows closed.

We rented this house for our family who was coming to visit us in Napa. The owner was super responsive and easy to work with. The house was also great! Our family was very happy with the accommodations they want to stay there again. The house was clean and had the basics you would expect to feel at home. The patio area was also really enjoyable and open.

I have stayed at Casa Alta Napa 3 times now and loved it there everytime I have stayed. It has everything you need. The best part is the outdoor area- you can enjoy it year round because the dining part is covered. The hot tub is so nice to relax in and the location is right in the center of everything. I will be back many more times to enjoy a weekend getaway!!
