Fabulous alternative to a hotel

Guest: Nancy C. (Garden Grove, CA)
Date of Stay: 11/27/11 Review Submitted: 12/04/11

We spent 5 days in this house and loved it. The home is well maintained and well appointed. Part of our recreation was being able to come home after wine tasting, getting comfortable and cooking a good meal. so this was much better than staying in a local hotel or bed and breakfast. We stocked up at the local Rallys market for the basics and got some exceptional meats from Brown Valley Market. It was nice to have options to having to go out for meals which we did also. The beds are very comfortable and we slept like babies. The location is quiet and a quick drive to downtown Napa. We picked this location partially because it allows pets. And if you bring your dog do an internet look up dog friendly wineries. With over 400 wineries in the Napa Valley it helped us to choose destinations where we could bring the dog along. All in all a great place to stay, particularly if you have a small group of people.

Beautiful Home with an Excellent Location

Guest: Cody (Chicago, IL)
Date of Stay: 06/30/11 Review Submitted: 07/09/11

Our party recently stayed at Casa Alta over the 4th of July weekend. The home is just beautiful and has all of the amenities that any party could ask for. That being said, we enjoyed the outdoor space the best. Between having dinner in the outdoor dining area, or using the hot tub, coming back from the many visits of the day was always enjoyable. Each bedroom was nicely appointed and the beds are comfortable. While one full bathroom is in an odd location (off the kitchen), it worked fine. The other bathroom also is nice enough, if a little small. Each bedroom had a fairly nice sized closet to keep things. One complaint is that the internet was difficult to figure out. We were able to access internet most of the time we needed it, but were never sure if we were stealing someone else's. We did walk to Oxbow Market and Napa. The walk to Oxbow is certainly easy enough and worth it. The walk downtown is slightly farther and may not be for everyone. Overall, we loved this place and would certainly stay here again...in fact, we are already trying to figure out when we can get back. We loved Napa!

Brazell/Reddick Napa Adventure 2011

Our stay at Casa Alta was a pleasure. The cottage was well appointed with beautiful furnishings joining vintage with new. It was more than adequate for 2 couples. The beds were comfortable and the 2 baths well equipped. We most enjoyed the outside space with the covered area and hot tub. It was great to return from a day of shopping, touring, & wine tasting to the relaxing atmosphere. The walk to Oxbow and on into town is a bit of a hike but doable for those on the front side of age 62. The houses are close but the back fencing does enhance the privacy. The owner has done a wonderful job of keeping this older Napa cottage updated and in excellent shape. We would certainly recommend a stay at Casa Alta to anyone planning a visit to the Napa area. For those without transportation, local buses run right outside with a stop very close and Napa provides local limo rental. Even if a personal car is available, a limo rental is advised for a day long visit to multiple wineries.

Great place!!

The house was great! It's kind of within walking distance of downtown but we chose to drive. If you have a car, parking is not an issue so I wouldn't worry. The rooms were great, the beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice. The backyard is the place to be though! Hot tub, plush covered seating area, and a fireplace! We absolutely loved it and the property owner was a great pleasure to deal with, not one problem the entire trip. Would stay there again and recommend it to anyone I know.

Stay Here-Don't Bother With a Hotel!

The house was charming, very clean and spacious, comfortable beds and laundry too! The outdoor area was the perfect place to end the day after traveling thru wine country all day. The hot tub and patio area were a favorite place for our group to relax. Having the ability to have breakfast at home saved us money and the neighborhood felt very safe. Whether a girls trip or a couples getaway-I would highly recommend this house.

Napa Vacation

Guest: J (Minneapolis, MN)
Date of Stay: 09/07/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

Traveled as a group (3 couples) to napa valley for vacation. 3 bedrooms/2 baths worked just fine. Size of house great for our group. Great value. Pros: great outdoor space (wonderful table in shaded area), nice size living room/socializing space for group, well equipped kitchen for vacation home, nicely furnished bedrooms. Cons: directly on bus line/busy street near school (was very noisey with windows open, especially in the am when trying to sleep in), renter does not allow hottub use after 9pm during the week and 10pm on weekends (we were on vacation during the week and didn't get home till late, therefore we never got to enjoy the hot tub - silly rule for a vacation property).

Owner response:I'm sorry the guests were not happy about the time restrictions on the hot tub (9PM during the week and 10 PM on Friday and Saturday). The rules are from the City of Napa and relate to the City's noise ordinance. They apply to all vacation rentals. The house is in a residential neighborhood, but the street gets a fair amount of traffic. There is one bus that runs once per hour from 7 AM to 6 PM daily. There is an elementary school close by. It would be difficult to sleep in past 8:00 during the week with the windows open. The bedrooms do have ceiling fans and the house has central heating and air conditioning to keep you comfortable with the windows closed.

We rented this house for our family who was coming to visit us in Napa. The owner was super responsive and easy to work with. The house was also great! Our family was very happy with the accommodations they want to stay there again. The house was clean and had the basics you would expect to feel at home. The patio area was also really enjoyable and open.

I have stayed at Casa Alta Napa 3 times now and loved it there everytime I have stayed. It has everything you need. The best part is the outdoor area- you can enjoy it year round because the dining part is covered. The hot tub is so nice to relax in and the location is right in the center of everything. I will be back many more times to enjoy a weekend getaway!!

I reserved this house for my best friends bachelorette gathering. After a day of wine tasing Casa Alta was a quiet and amazing place to relax. The outdoor patio was our favorite spot. We loved the BBQ and hottub. The beds were so comfortable and it was east to walk to town from the house! A wonderful, clean, peaceful place. Would stay here again!

We had a wonderful extended weekend here at Casa Alta. One outstanding feature is the outdoor living area. We dined outside one evening and opened some wine we had purchased during the day. It was so relaxing and comfortable. The beds are quite nice as well. It was absolutely perfect for a "Girl's Trip" but would surely be just as appropriate for couples. The location is great, and it is such fun to feel like a resident, even for just a few days. Casa Alta is a great base from which to enjoy Napa and Sonoma.

Three adults and one "tween" and it was perfect. The home is very comfortable and peaceful; I especially enjoyed the windchime touch. The back yard is a vacation spot all by itself. Easy access to everything Napa has to offer. The owner was very accomodating and honest. You'll love your stay!

I just stayed at Casa Alta last week (April 27-29, 2009) with four other women (5 in total.) We were in Napa 3 nights and we were very comfortable at Casa Alta. We used all that was there -- jacuzzi, outdoor livingroom/dining room, fire pit, bar-b-q grill & everything was wonderful. It is in a beautiful little neighborhood across the street from an elementary school. We stayed very busy with a 9 hour wine tours via the most fabulous & knowledgeable limo driver in Napa (John Copollo.) We were just minutes from hot air balooning (Ballons Above the Valley - which I highly reccomend) and shopping so we did not even take time for t.v. Hurry and rent it before someone else does... Thanks Belina for everything.

Kiwis stay in Napa

We had a lovely few days in Napa at Belinda's lovely house. It was like a home away from home with everything that you could need. The beds were very comfortable! We enjoyed the starry nights from the jacuzzi. We had a booking for 6 at the French Laundry and only 4 of us could go. Belinda went to the trouble of finding another couple to go with us as we were not allowed to downsize the booking. THANK YOU for this. What an experience that was. We all recommend Casa Alta for a relaxed way to enjoy the wonderful Napa Valley!

This property is exactly as described on VRBO. This is an older home just a brisk walk from downtown. We found it very convenient compared to others in the area for similar price. The home is in excellent condition for its age and has been remodeled. The backyard/courtyard was one of the highlights of the property. We enjoyed sitting at the outdoor Travertine table and lounging about. We never used the outdoor fireplace even though it would have been nice. It was a fantastic place for wine & cheese or home made dinner. The spa was very relaxing for 2, but could comfortably fit 4. The Home Owner was very friendly and EXTREMELY responsive. Suggestions for the owner: There's only one TV (add one or more to the bedrooms). Additionally, add a shower in the half bath & blinds. We were concerned about 4 people sharing a 1.5 bath, but we coordinated well and there were no problems.

Wine country was great, but to be honest with you the highlight of the trip was Casa Alta!! I stayed there with 3 other adults and we could not have been more comfortable!! It was spotlessly clean upon our arrival, and had EVERYTHING we needed for our stay!! I would recommend a rental car, because for our group who were older and/or overweight, I wouldn't say things are necessarily in walking distance...although we never did take advantage of the cable cars. Casa Alta is by far the most charming and comfortable place I have ever stayed away from home!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful place Belinda!! Dana

We stayed at Casa Alta during the last weekend of January and really enjoyed it. This charming house is located in a very quiet neighborhood. We love the antique furniture and the beds were very, very comfortable. The outdoor setting was beautiful though it was too cold for us to use but 2 of us enjoyed the hot tub. It was an easy walk to Copia and Downtown and we had a lovely Saturday. We all had a relaxing and peaceful weekend. Thank you very much, Belinda!

Clean, Classy and Carefree

Date of Stay: 03/26/07 Review Submitted: 04/08/08

From the begining, with a few email exchanges between the owner and myself, I felt extremely comfortable with my decision to stay at Casa Alta during our first Napa vacation. The owner was friendly, responsive and most importantly, helpful. The house was even better in person, than it was in the pictures advertised. Every nook and cranny was clean and dust free... from the living room to the bathroom, the kitchen counters to the bath tub. Although we were staying in someones rental house, it felt as if we were in a hotel. The bedrooms were stocked with down comforters, classy duvets and coverlets a top comfortable queen sized beds. The bathrooms with high-end towels. Even the kitchen had an excellent supply of cooking utensils for out lesiurely meals on the romantic back patio. The back yard was separated into two sections - each with a 6' privacy fence. This helped greatly with keeping the dogs on one side (yes, we were even allowed to bring our dogs!) while we lounged and relaxed on the side with beautiful potted plants, landscaping, hot tub, and marble dining table set underneath a covered trellis. A few candles, grilled NY strip steaks and asparagus, fresh bread and olive oil and a nice bottle of wine, and we had an amazing setting for casual dinner at home.. I mean, on vacation. This property is staying in my bookmarks and I'm sure to rent it again on our next Napa vacation, I'm also recommending it to others.
