Accommodations:  Vacation Rental Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

Lakeview Cabin is located 19 miles from West Yellowstone, the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, in Island Park, Idaho. It only takes 20 minutes to get to the Park. The cabin sits on a hill with truly spectacular views, overlooking Henry's Lake and the surrounding mountains. This 3 bedroom/2 bathroom vacation home is a great place for a relaxing vacation in beautiful surroundings. It sleeps 6 people comfortably and is located on a quiet drive, and feels secluded and private.

The large wrap-around deck with seating for six offers breathtaking views in all directions. The deck faces the south looking out at a beautiful panorama - Henry's Lake with a back drop of Sawtell Peak and Mt. Jefferson. Looking toward the back of the home, you'll see Lionhead Mountain and the other towering peaks of the Continental Divide. Looking to the west you'll see a lush mountain valley rising to Reynolds Pass. To the east are the mountains of Yellowstone Park. Enjoy having BBQ dinners on the deck, or just sit and gaze at the lake, the sky and the clouds - you'll feel yourself unwind in the peace and majesty of it all.

The cabin has clear-finished pine on the walls and ceilings, creating a bright and rustic atmosphere. The tastefully decorated Great Room has two sets of French doors leading to the deck with another set of windows above. Windows on all three sides give you the opportunity to enjoy nature's beauty during all seasons. Comfortable couches and rocking chairs invite you to sit back and relax as you enjoy watching your favorite satellite channels on the large screen TV. Or enjoy watching our collection of DVD movies for all ages. The cabin has a high-speed DSL internet connection which can be used by plugging it in or wireless - just bring your laptop. The canoe-shaped book shelves provide books about fishing, hiking, and all the sights in Yellowstone and Teton National Parks and the surrounding area. The adjoining dining area seats 6 people. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you'll need to prepare meals and dine. We supply extra virgin olive oil and herbs and spices for your use. The laundry area is in a separate room just off the kitchen. This cabin is well supplied - we provide linens, towels, a hair dryer, hand soaps, dishwashing soaps, laundry soap, trash can liners, etc. The comfortability of our guests is important to us!

Beyond the kitchen is the master bedroom suite with a king-size bed and a walk-in closet. Here you'll find the desk with high speed internet access. The adjoining bathroom has two sinks and a shower. The queen size bedroom is located down the hallway, as well as a third bedroom with a bunk bed for two. Both are a convenient distance from the hallway bathroom, with one sink and a bathtub/shower that has sliding glass doors. All bedrooms are supplied with ample closet space, dressers, and have windows that look out on the beautiful surroundings.

The attached garage and driveway provide parking for up to 5 vehicles. There is a nicely landscaped yard with several flower beds. Children will enjoy playing on the surrounding lawn.

If you like fly fishing, Lakeview Cabin is the place for you. Henry's Lake is a world renowned fly fishing area - here you can fish for rainbow trout and cutthroat hybrids. The Henry's Fork of the Snake River, which flows out of Henry's Lake, is famous for its wild cutthroat trout.

Other activities nearby include sightseeing, hiking, boating, swimming, rafting, horseback riding, gift shopping, rodeos, and ATV riding. Because this area receives plenty of snow, snowmobile riding on the local trail system or in Yellowstone Park and cross-country skiing on 75 miles of groomed trails in Island Park or at the world-famous Rendez Vous ski trails in West Yellowstone are great activities in the winter.

We supply the cabin with herbs and spices, olive oil for cooking, paper goods, laundry soap, dishwashing soap, shower gel, and anything else you might need during your stay.

If you are looking for beautiful views in the quiet seclusion of pristine surroundings close to Henry's Lake and the mountains of the Continental Divide, with easy access to the attractions of Yellowstone Park, and the fishing and rafting opportunities of Island Park and the greater Yellowstone area, you will be delighted with your stay at our Lakeview Cabin.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2007

We purchased Lakeview Cabin in 2007 because of its prime location overlooking Henry's Lake and the mountains of the Continental Divide. Yellowstone Park is only a 20 minute drive away which we found extremely important, not only for ourselves but also for our future guests.

Why the Owner Chose Island Park

Island Park has a lot to offer - we love to visit the Mesa Falls, and the Big Springs area with Johnny Sacks' cabin is amazing. We recommend visiting Harriman State Park for horseback riding, or just to hike around and enjoy pristine natural surroundings. And Henry's Lake has great fishing opportunities. You are welcome to read the guest book comments to find out how prior guests enjoyed staying at this vacation home.

The Unique Benefits of this Vacation Rental Cabin

Lakeview Cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood. The other homes in the area are mostly seasonal homes and it's peaceful even when the owners are visiting. The view is magnificent - just picture yourself on the deck, gazing out over the lake, as you unwind as relax... We hope you'll enjoy your stay as much as we enjoy spending time there! • September 30-October 6, 2009 Our family had a "magical" time. The cabin was something out of a dream, and far exceeded our expectations. We even had snow - huge if you're from Florida. We were so impressed with the care that was taken to make us feel so welcome. We will remember these days forever.

    • September 3-11, 2009 Dear Bruce and Magdalena, Thank you so much for letting us have the opportunity to rent your beautiful cabin. It met all of our expectations and more! We had a wonderful time exploring Yellowstone, The Tetons, Cody and Jackson Hole. We saw lots of animals - elk, grizzly bear, eagle, deer, and bison. We had fun in Jackson riding a covered wagon and having a cowboy dinner and entertainment. We will always have great memories of our trip. Thanks.

    • We stayed at the Lakeview Cabin for 5 nights (check in: 8/29/09, check out 9/3/09) and had a wonderful time. Our party included 4 adults, so we did not use the third bedroom (it is quite small with 2 bunk beds; probably best for children). The cabin is bright, comfortable and very well maintained. The setting overlooking Lake Henry is quite beautiful, and the development is VERY quiet (we heard virtually no noise from the other properties during our entire stay). The cabin is well furnished with plenty of dishes, towels and kitchen items. There is also considerable literature pertinent to exploration of Yellowstone the Grand Teton National parks. Importantly, we found dealing with the owners to be a pleasant experience. They seemed to have a genuine interest in making our stay in their cabin enjoyable. We highly recommend this property!!

    • 8/21-8/26/09 We had a wonderful time ... so much to do and so little time to do it. We saw Mesa Falls, Quake Lake, Sawtell Mountain, Yellowstone Park, we went fly fishing on South Henry Fork, we went to the sand dunes of St. Anthony and we visited Bear Country. The best part was just being together as a family!! It has been a while. Thanks for the cabin - you made a "home away from home" for us. You provided everything we needed for a memorable vacation. Good luck and God bless you,

    • 8/1-8/9/2009 This cabin was more than we had hoped for - super clean, amazing view and it felt very welcoming. This was mostly everyone's first time at Yellowstone and we all enjoyed it. There was so much wildlife (the best timing was 5 PM-8 PM). We would like to thank you, Bruce and Magdalena, for allowing us to use your cabin. While we stayed here we went whitewater rafting which is a must, horseback riding, and took the long drive to the Tetons which was so worth it. Even though it was a long drive, we hiked around String Lake and got some beautiful pictures. Everything here was greatly appreciated. Thanks again,

    • 8/9-16, 2009 We had such an amazing time at Yellowstone. It will be a vacation to remember! There was so much to do and the cabin was in the perfect spot. It was so close to everything! It had absolutley everything we needed and the beds were super comfy! Make sure to check out the Yellowstone Expedition Guide that is on the table! It has so many neat places we would have missed without it. It was definitely an amazing place - one we need to come back to again! We loved the cabin and we want to thank you again for everything!

    • 7/19/2009 – 7/26/2009 Visiting Yellowstone was a dream for all four of us - it was just what we hoped for – phenomenal! During our stay we saw all the Yellowstone essentials (the mighty bison, Old Faithful, and the most beautiful site of all - Tower Falls and the Yellowstone River Canyon). We also traveled to Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, WY. The Tetons are spectacular, and we even got a chance to swim in the beautiful and refreshingly chilly Jenny Lake. The cabin served us very well. It was very spacious, comfortable and cozy. And that view! Superb. In fact we wish we had more time to enjoy the cabin, the parks and everything in between since a lot of our time here was spent in the car, being stuck in the “bison traffic jams." On one occasion, it took us two hours to get to the cabin from the Madison Junction because a bison family decided to use the road to get home. It was definitely worth it to drive here all the way from Metro Detroit area. • July 26 - August 1, 2009 We had wanted to visit Yellowstone for ages, but it seemed an awfully long way from the UK. Eventually we planned it into a 5 week tour of some of your nationals parks, and here we are! We couldn't have chosen anywhere nicer to stay, to get over the noise of Vegas and jet lag. We were able to break our journey overnight in beautiful Salt Lake City, and eventually arrived here in a thunderstorm. Your house was immediately welcoming and spotlessly clean. We appreciated the extra touches such as the playing cards (well used by the kids), and the guide books (well used by the adults!) The washing machine and dryer were also essential when traveling with children. The house proved a perfect starting point to explore Yellowstone. We geyser spotted, swam in the Firehole River, spotted grizzlies, photographed bison, and just simply took in the views. We are sad to leave Yellowstone, but now journey onto Arches, Canyon lands, Zion, Bryce and Yosemite. What a beautiful country you have - you are so lucky. Thank you for sharing your house. P.S. Tip for visitors - when you see a traffic jam in the Park it usually means wildlife has been spotted, also it's a long drive to the Tetons, but worth it!

    • 7/4-7/19/09 Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation! The majority of our family all together for the first time and it was a great time! The cabin was beautiful! One of the nicest places we have ever rented. The neighbors were very friendly and helpful and made us feel like we were long time residents. There was plenty of bedding for everyone as well as linens. The DirecTV was great as well as wireless internet. We saw bison, marmot, elk, and a ton of antelope in the West Yellowstone entrance. The town of West Yellowstone was so nice and quaint. We shopped at every store in and saw everything there was to see! We saw every kind of weather we could imagine. It was great having the washer and dryer especially with "fishermen" in the family. The games and books and magazines were terrific! We went white water rafting in Gardiner at the North entrance. Great time and much more reasonable. Overall, it was a wonderful, great and terrific trip. Thank you! The John Parkey Family, Peoria, AZ 7/4-7/19/09 We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home! We have been in this area several times before, but always in a motor home ... This was by far the most luxurious way to go! Loved the washer and dryer! We revisited the ranger station at Quake Lake - it's so interesting. We drove to Ennis and had lunch and did some shopping while our husbands fished Harrison Lake. We drove down to the Old Kirby Place Fishing Lodge in Montana, took pictures of the wooden bridge. If you go there, be sure to shut off the AC and roll down the car windows and listen as you drive across. We loved the rain - we see it so seldom in Phoenix. We saw the most beautiful double rainbow right outside our window to the east - the colors were so distinct and vibrant! We shopped West Yellowstone inside out. We loved the water falls in Yellowstone and watched a bald eagle and her baby ... Enjoyed just relaxing on the patio, reading a good book. It was so nice to have the DSL for our laptop. It will be nice to go home and not have to check hundreds of emails! We have loved the location of your home - it's so convenient to so many activities/adventures in the area! Thank you for opening your home to us. Harry & Joyce Vaupell, Phoenix, AZ
