Wonderful home away from home- highly recommended!

If you're looking for a place to call home while on vacation, look no further. From the moment we arrived, the place felt like our own and it make our vacation relaxing and intimate. The place itself is clean, well-furnished and well-sized for a couple or small family (<4). The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. You get a beautiful view of the ocean and space to call your own. That space made our time more intimate and allowed us to really focus on each other (we are a couple), the beautiful place we were at and relaxing. The hosts, Bob and Carol, were wonderful. They picked us up from the airport, drove us to the grocery store and to the car rental place and gave us lots of advice on where to go. They know the island well and can really guide you. That being said, they weren't overbearing and gave us our space to do our own thing- a perfect balance! If you're staying at Serendipity, I would highly recommend renting a car. The place is not located walking distance from anything but the beach and a bank, and unless you're planning on going to the same beach everyday, you are out of luck. Car rentals aren't expensive, and getting a car allowed us to visit every beach on the island, get groceries multiple times and go out to the Grace Bay area (where the resorts are) for a couple dinner or drink outings. Overall, it was amazing to have a place that felt like home to come to after a day out on the beaches and having the convenience of staying in and making dinner. I would recommend this to couples or families of 4 or less. Great place!

Just got back from a week at Serendipity. For us, it was the perfect place: great location with tremendous view of water from patio and from inside; very friendly, helpful owners; nicely decorated, 1-bedroom unit with all cooking facilities; small pool with deck. We were five minutes from a mostly-deserted beach with great snorkeling. We were also conveniently located for access to restaurants and groceries. This is a very good value if you want a calm, relaxing vacation.

Finding Serendipity was certainly serendipitous!

Positives: snorkeling, solitude, comfortable accommodations, Bob and Carol. Negatives: there’s not much within safe walking distance other than the beach. About us: mid-40’s; married 20 year; no kids; like outdoor activities; dislike crowds. Length of stay: 10 days. About Serendipity: reasonably priced for the apartment, but a real bargain when you throw in Bob and Carol (see About Hosts section). The apartment is just as described on VRBO, so I won’t go into that. It was very comfortable for the 2 of us. It would be OK for a couple with 1 or 2 small children. Two adult couples would be pretty crowded. We bought meat at the IGA and used the grill 3 nights. The pool looked inviting, but we are beach people so we hit the beach nearly every day. About Hosts: Bob and Carol are simply the best! They are attentive, accommodating, friendly, funny, respectful and available to answer your questions. What more can you ask for in a host? We had dinner with them several times and really enjoyed ourselves. Before renting, you can contact Bob & Carol via VRBO and then connect via Skype or phone. They’ll answer all your questions. About Babalua Beach: It’s an easy 10 minute walk for people in reasonable shape. You might want to bring a cooler with wheels if you plan to haul a case of beverages to the beach each day. Plan ahead, you don’t want to run back and forth from the beach to the apartment for things you forgot. You’ll find excellent snorkeling all along the beach and as close to shore as 15 yards. It is very quiet, so if you’re looking for a party this isn’t the place. We were the only 2 people on the beach most days, which was perfect for us. This is not the wide gentle sloping beach you’ll find by the resorts. Much of it is pretty narrow and quite rocky. There is a very nice sandy area more suitable for kids and those just looking to take a dip. Misc: You should consider renting a car if you want to go anyplace other than the beach. The Turtle Cove Marina is a challenging 20 minute walk in daylight. I strongly advise against walking to or from the marina after dark. Talk to Bob and Carol about car rentals; they can give you some advice. If you go: Stop by Sharkbites and give a hug to our good friends Simone, Janet and Carny. Ask for a Reserve and Ginger if you’re looking for a taste of the local rum. If you have more than 2, call a cab for a ride home. Everything else you can find by googling Turtle Cove Turks and Caicos.

If you are looking for the perfect vacation rental

If you are looking for the perfect vacation rental, STOP….look no further. Bob and Carol were the perfect hosts. Two wonderful people who are so accommodating, Warm and friendly, they made you feel right at home. Bob picked us up at the airport and gave us a tour of the island (Showing us how to get to Smith’s Reef), Then drove us to the grocery store and one evening even took us to see the glowworms w/ a cooler of beer. They have lived on the island for many years and were able to give us perfect advice on places to eat, whom to dive with (flamingo divers), rent a car from (Grace Bay car rentals). Bob even told us where to find turtles and spotted eagle rays on Smiths reef. And wouldn’t you know; they showed up regularly… where he said they would! These are places/special moments that we would have never found on our own and what makes a vacation memorable. The beach is beautiful and just a 10 minute walk. But we would advise renting a car so you can see the whole island. The view is a spectacular and can be enjoyed hanging out on the hammock or sitting on the chairs. We spent every morning drinking our coffee on the patio. Serendipity is very clean and has everything you may need for a prefect vacation. You can stay at a ridiculously expensive resort and pay 2 or 3 times the amount of money. Or you can stay at serendipity and spend that money going out to dinner, diving, shopping, tours or extend your vacation and extra few days.

If you're looking for something outside of a hotel, this is your spot. My family stayed here and it was all that we needed for a great and relaxing time. First off, Bob and Carol treat you like family. They open themselves up to you from the moment you land. When you're traveling it's the little things that help make the trip and they fill in where you need. I have a little baby girl and they were like new grandparents to her. They give you your time to relax or if you want to hangout you can. I can't say enough about them as people. There is a beach a short walk away and the view from the property is amazing. There is no question about your safety. You're a short drive away from most everything. This is just a better way to enjoy a trip to Turks and Caicos. Not to mention at a better price then other places on the island.

Serendipity is private, comfortable, and has a beach nearby with awesome snorkelling.

We were very satisfied with our stay at Serendipity. Our hosts were terrific! We were grateful for transportation to and from the airport and the bonus of help via a mini tour of the area and getting some groceries. We had everything we needed to prepare meals and we enjoyed eating out a a variety of restaurants. Our hosts were an excellent resource and answered our questions. We joined our hosts for a night out to dinner at an excellent Restaurant on the beach in Grace Bay that was superb and to top it off had delightful live music. We enjoyed the use of their pool and fireworks from the upper deck. Our favourite activities were snorkelling, swimming with the turtles, and walking on awesome white sand beaches, watching the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We found it helpful to have transportation for some days.

A great alternative to resort stay for those who want to see more than just beach - wonderful hosts, GORGEOUS view, and quiet, comfy, clean digs. A car is HIGHLY recommended - the nearby beach is lovely, but exploring the island was the highlight of our trip. And in the heat, 10-15 minutes is a longer walk than you might expect (esp with a baby/beach chairs/etc). One of the best aspects of the place is full kitchen, as eating out on the island is quite expensive. We had a great time cooking for ourselves, and enjoyed eating on the beautiful patio (b'fast in the hammock!). Bob & Carol are truly as fabulous as noted by other guests - they went out of their way to be helpful and kind without being intrusive. It's also a pleasure to stay with folks who really know the place - another advantage over staying in an anonymous hotel. If you are coming to Provo ONLY for the beach, stay at a resort. If you want a beach vacation AND a feel for the greater life of the island, stay with Bob & Carol.

We stayed at Serendipity for 9 days in February 2010. We prefer a more quiet and spacious place than the usual hotel/resort in the Caribbean. Serendipity met this preference very well. The apartment has a large living/dining room that was perfect for evening and watching the Winter Olympics on TV . The private patio is a lovely place to relax, read and just view the Caribbean. Beach access is available by walking, but is more convenient by car. The snorkeling off the beach is excellent, making it easy to do this conveniently without having to book a tour. Providenciales has a number of excellent restaurants. We chose to eat breakfast and most lunches at Serendipity, but if you feel like cooking dinner, the full kitchen and outdoor grill easily fill this need. Bob and Carol are perfect hosts -- available and helpful if you need them, but respecting your privacy. We had an enjoyable time.

We can't say enough good things about Serendipity. Lovely, quiet, restful accommodations, includes everything you need except groceries, which are nearby. Carol & Bob are wonderful hosts, very knowledgeable about the island, the people and where to access most anything. The apartment is spotless, spacious and very comfortable. Loved the snorkeling just a short walk to an almost private beach. A delightful place to stay and a great get-a-way from cold Alberta winters. Again, thank you for the great hospitality. Brian & Pearl.

What are you waiting for? Book it!! lol I just returned home to the freezing cold from the best trip ever!!! And I have to give a huge thanks to Bob and Carol for making that happen. We had such an amazing time :) Bob and Carol were so genuine and honestly the best hosts we could ask for. Bob picked us up from the airport which relieved a lot of stress on arrival. They are such sweet people which really was the icing on the cake. The view from Serendipity is beautiful with crystal blue waters as far as the eye can see. The apartment is spotless and very well equipped. Carol even drove us to the grocery store. We didn't rent a car and so it was a big help to be able to depend on them to give us a hand. It would probably be better to rent a car to get around the island but, we enjoyed walking in the sunshine. If we did need anything, Bob and Carol would get it for us. Highlights were: 1.Secluded beach which we walked to in 2 mins. 2.Watching New Years Eve fireworks next to the bonfire on the beach with live drumming Junkanoo band! 3.Bob taking us to North Point with a detour to see Flamingos and go to Da Conch Shack . 4. Carol setting up the undersea adventure so we could see spotted eagle rays. 5.Kayaking through the mangroves were we saw lemon sharks in the shallow water. 6. Getting to know Bob and Carol 7.Taking pictures. I could go on forever....We had SO much fun and I would definitely stay at Serendipity again, they made us feel as if we were at home (I even asked them if they could adopt me...) All in all, Highly highly recommended!!!!! It truly was a serendipitous find:) We miss it already.... Thanks Bob and Carol (good luck with those pineapples:)

Bob and Carol were awesome! This place and they are hidden gems. You can walk down one side of the hill to the beach at turtle cove or the other side of the hill for food, car rentals, etc. Bob and Carol went out of their way to make us welcome, every arranging and accompanying us on a trip to North and Middle Caicos for a day while we were there and introducing us to 2 other couples with similar interests!

We had a fantastic time! The apartment was just what we were looking for. Between the solitude, the snorkeling and the sunshine it was a great spot. The week just flew by. Becky admitted that she got teary-eyed prior to our departure on Saturday. It was by far the most relaxing vacation we've experienced to date. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at Serendipity. We can't wait to come visit again. Sincerely, Jeremy Burgess

We spent 1 week at Serendity in Feb 08 and spent a perfect vacation mainly because Bob & Carol took good care of us. They were always available to share good places to visit and even drive us someplaces with minimum charges. The condo was very nice and clean. I particularly appreciated relaxing in the hamac with the view of the ocean. Do not hesitate to go visit Bob & Carol, you will not regret it.

Bob & Carol are great hosts! They offer their hospitality, car tours, and even invite you for a glass of wine, if you behave:) The palce is clean, private, and located in the center between few beaches. You definitely need a car, but that's the best way to get to know the island anyway:) I highly recommend their Serendipity!!!! Natasha

We just returned from a week in Turks and Caicos over the Christmas holiday 2006-2007. In Provo, we stayed at Serendipity. It is a great place with a full kitchen, a living area and a separate bedroom. It is very comfortable and has everything you need. From the patio, there is a spectacular view of the ocean, which I can never get tired of watching. A beach, snorkeling and Turtle Cove are just a short walk away. It’s nice to be in a place that gives you the option to cook at “home” or go out, which you can easily do at Serendipity. We had a wonderful time in Provo and at Serendipity thanks to Bob and Carol, the owners and hosts of Serendipity. They were terrific. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. We barely had arrived that we felt like we were visiting old friends. Turks and Caicos is a great place and staying at Serendipity made our trip that much more enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anyone! We will remember fondly our stay at Serendipity and hope to be back there again.

We just returned (Feb 2005) from our stay in Turks and Caicos at Serendipity with Bob and Carol...and the two dogs Bebe and Pud. We had a wonderful time; in addition to the enormous pleasures of the island--its snorkeling, beaches, sun, slowness...--our hosts were also terrific. From the very beginning of our stay they were tremendously helpful, making us feel at home, providing key insights and info about the island, and going out of their way to support us in our various activities and needs. Serendipity itself is an excellent, simple space. There is a large open kitchen/living room space, a smaller bedroom, ample closet space, a bathroom, and porch/patio overlooking the water. The place is very clean with plenty of towels, soap, etc. The kitchen is fully equipped so you will save lots of money cooking and preparing your own meals. So, it was great...we highly recommend it! -Aaron Schildkrout and Katy Neylon

We stayed at Serendipity for two weeks in February 2005. The accomodations are wonderful; very spacious and clean. The view from the terrace is awesome. One could sit and watch that aquamarine water and the reef all day! Bob and Carol are perfect hosts who go way beyond the expected. We were treated to many sightseeing trips to places we never would have discovered without them. Thank you so much Carol and Bob for your hospitality. We will pass the good word along to family and friends and hope to visit again sometime in the future. Sincerely, Diane and Bill Huson

We arrived on Provo on 2-5-04 and stayed in Serendipity until 2-19-04. We had been dying to get back to Provo since our first visit in 1998. We are avid snorkelers and did as much of it as we could in two weeks. The view from Serendipity was everything the website promised and Bob and Carol were the perfect hosts. We felt at home at once and had to buy puppy treats for Puddles and Bebe. We fell in love with them all and hope to be back next year. The little apartment is so clean and tidy and was perfect for a family with one teenager. We even had a pet gecko who lived in the drawer of the desk the whole time. The apartment provided everything we needed to make our two week trip affordable. We brought in all our frozen meat and cooked on the BBQ almost every night. The view overlooking Grace Bay is to die for, from your very own covered patio, as well as through doorwalls from the entire living space. You won't regret renting Serendipity, no matter how long you have in paradise.

We stayed at Serendipity in January 2003 and we had a great time. The island has the most spectacular beaches. If your a beach person you will you it. The snorkelling conditions are perfect because the coral reef surrounding the island causes the ocean to be calm and there are beautiful coral reefs really close to shore. We snorkelled almost everyday and if your a beginner it's ideal because some spots are so close to shore you feel comfortable and can rest on the beach. The Serendipity apartment was perfect for us because we wanted to have our own place and we brought some of our favourite foods. It's a cute apartment and has everything you need including a beautiful view from the sliding patio doors. We used the full kitchen to prepare some of our meals and we had breakfast on the patio every morning. It was a really nice atmosphere and Bob and Carol make you feel so welcome and at home. Their knowledge of the entire island was a great help for us and facilitated us to explore so many different areas and it was pure joy!

Thanks go to Carol and Bob at Serendipity Apartment for making our Turks and Caicos vacation a memorable one.Our goal when vacationing is to stay in a location where we can feel most at home... and pretend that we are never leaving. Serendipity was a great choice. The apartment is affordable, clean, and well equipped. Most of all we enjoyed the view from the patio (oh, that blue water) and the coffee and conversation we shared with our hosts each morning. Thanks again! Warren and Carol Teets

We traveled to the Turks and Caicos Islands for our honeymoon in October of 2003. We were on a budget so we researched some of the lower priced apartments and resorts on the islands. Trust us when we say that higher prices doesn't always mean better! In fact, by the time we left, we were very happy we didn't have more money because it really would have been a waste to spend more than we did! Serendipity was very spacious, clean and comfortable. It provided all the amenities for every day living. From its location on the island, we were never very far away from anything we needed. A big bonus is the beautiful ocean view - waking up to that every morning was something that we wished we could have taken with us when we left! To top it all off, Bob and Carol were very gracious hosts - they did everything they could to make our stay a very enjoyable one. We can’t wait for the time when we can go back again!
