A truly unique location on Mammoth mountain ! Timber Ridge is the highest location in Mammoth, looking down over Canyon Lodge and the Owens Valley. Ski in and ski out to Chair 8 and Canyon Lodge or Chair 15 & 24 to Eagle Express where lift tickets are sold and miss the lines at Canyon Lodge. (In the summer these same runs become a world class mountain bike trail). The condo has gorgeous views of the Sherwin Range from the living room and master bedroom. The clubhouse directly across from the condo features "his and hers" saunas, a large spa and a summertime swimming pool. This small complex is surrounded by the national forest, creating a woodsy, remote atmosphere. Nightlife is down the hill (approximately 2 miles) where there are many excellent restaurants and bars.
The interior of the condo has nearly new furniture including a custom sofa sleeper with a pillow top mattress, a large wood burning fireplace/stove, 2 TV's, VCR, DVD player and a well equipped kitchen. In addition to the 4-poster queen bed there is a television in master bedroom and great views from the bed. The master bath is new with custom tile, new vanity and frameless shower and heated floors. The second bedroom has heated floors, mirrored wardrobes and a sitting area. The double twin trundle bed can become one large bed.
This summer we did a large remodel, adding a new bath, remodeling the existing bath and the kitchen as well as new travertine floors everywhere except the living room and bedrooms, where we installed new carpeting. Both bathrooms feature travertine tub and shower enclosures and tumbled travertine accents, new vanities, lighting, and fixtures. The kitchen includes new appliances, custom cabinets, lighting and granite countertops. We also installed a built-in humidifier.
The garage is attached with stairway access so there is never a need to unearth your car after a snowstorm. The association owns a snowplow which plows our driveways immediately in the event of a storm.
The condo is warm and inviting with stylish furniture and accents. After a day on the mountain, ski home thru the woods (there are trail markers on Bluejay pointing the way to Timber Ridge). Come home to hot drinks, a crackling fire and beautiful sunset views. Go for a soak and a sauna at the clubhouse across the driveway. Make dinner at home or go to one of the terrific restauants just down the hill.
Area activities include superb cross country skiing (just down Lake Mary Road at the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center), snowmobiling, dog sledding, sledding and back country snowshoeing. Hot springs soaking is popular year around. Summer fun includes golfing, hiking, fishing, backpacking, mountain biking and horseback riding. There are several outlet shops in town including Ralph Lauren and Bass for the less motivated.
As a result of the mountain being developed the last few years, there are more great restaurants and nightlife all over town and on the mountain. Most of the lifts are high speed and enclosed. There is gondola service to the top and to a mid-mountain lodge where skiers and non-skiers can enjoy excellent food at a beautiful restaurant as well as service at the less formal cafe.
Our favorites restaurants are Nevados and Tamarack Lodge (I never get tired of walking through the enclosed entry lined to the rafters on either side by firewood.) Tamarack is authentic old style lodge with a huge fireplace, lots of deep sofas and hot drinks. They serve French food and have a good wine list. Nevados is very good California cuisine and equally good drinks. Fun, less expensive restaurants we eat at are Alpenrose and Angel's. The Stove on Old Mammoth Road is an institution that serves huge breakfasts. Late night and dinner try Whiskey Creek and Lakanuki. Our favorite after ski is the Yodler across from Main Lodge. No amount of will power has kept us from Schaat's Bakery, a haven for wonderful bread, gorgeous pastries, mountain size sandwiches and soups. There is a Schaat's in Bishop and another on the main road to the condo. |
