We have been at the Riad for only two nights so far with 3 left to go, and it is fabulous. It is even better than the description given, and the staff here are very helpful and kind. We were met at the airport which we prearranged and were driven directly to the Riad. I would highly recommend staying here. Great for families or couples!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We stayed in the Kalife Suite at the Riad Zen House for ten days at the beginning of November 2012 and it made our first visit to Morocco an unforgettable experience. The serene and beautiful Riad Zen House is hidden behind a large wooden door amongst the small alleyways of the Medina and it gave us a truly authentic experience. Carla and Miloud made our stay even more memorable as they were very knowledgeable about Marrakech the surrounding areas and they were more than happy to assist and advise us on how best to make the most out of each day. Their lovely staff, Saida and Osama were extremely attentive and more than happy to accommodate our requests including finding Red Bull and deodorant! The excusions organised by the Riad were excellent and we would thoroughly recommended them. We discussed the evening's menu with Carla each day and she provided a wide range of excellent authentic cuisine and was more than happy to advise us on all the options available. We would thoroughly recommend a guide for the first couple of days which really helped acclimatise us to the hustle and bustle of the souks (yes you will get lost !!) and the main square which were easily accessible by foot from the Riad. The grand taxi rank at the Bab Yacout entrance to the Medina was also only a 5 minute walk away from the Riad. I would suggest you bring lots of money if you do plan to visit all the beautiful silver and textile shops especially the "Ali Ba Ba Treasure Trove" you visit on the trip to the Oureka Valley you will need it! This was a trip that we will not forget in a hurry and would definitely recommend staying at the Riad Zen House.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The Zen House . . . there are not enough superlatives to describe our stay at this beautiful riad and our subsequent journey around Morocco arranged for us by the staff. There were four couples in our party, and all of us loved the entire experience. The riad itself is wonderful: comfortable, quiet, safe, and very beautiful, and the staff, who were cordial, efficient and generous with their time and attention, made the visit even more pleasant. Once we left Marrakesh, everyone still made sure our travel experience was wonderful. The riads and hotels in which we were booked were top-notch. Our guides in each city were knowledgeable, friendly and flexible -- if we wanted to see something in particular, we saw it. Everything about Morocco far exceeded our expectations. The wonderful people from the Zen House played a major part in this experience. Would we go again? You bet we would. Would we recommend Morocco and the Zen House to family and friends? We already have. Thank you, everyone, for a marvelous time all around. -- The Texas ContingentRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We spent three nights at Zen House in November, 2010 and found the property to be gorgeous. The rooms were quiet and comfortable with BIG bathrooms. The meal that was prepared for us was delicious and we had a fun cooking class at the riad. I would recommend this property to anyone!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The Zen House was great. It's inside the Medina, which gives it more character and place. You can walk to the Square in about 20 minutes, or you can easily (and cheaply) grab a taxi, as the Grand Taxi depot is very close. Thomas is your host. He does an excellent job. He anticipates your needs, and can make any arrangements you need. A delicious breakfast of local foods is included, and is very nice. I definitely recommend this stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

You are great hosts and made us feel very welcome. I really appreciate all the extra effort you made to make the trip great, especially the trip to the Berber village in the mountains (and my mule trip down), the visit to the Ham'am and dinner "Chez Ali". The breakfasts were great and especially meeting so many great people who became good friends instantly.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

About the owner: I am a former American-born French and British trained lawyer having suffered burn-out and decided to make a serious life change
Why the Owner Chose Marrakech:
I visited Marrakech for the first time in 2003 and fell in love with the innate generosity and warmth of its people, culture and hospitality. I was immediately seduced by the vivid colors, sensuous decor and laid-back life-style. My trip introduced me to an alternative way of life that I was to make mine. Mystic Marrakech, the Jewel perched at the gate to the Moroccan desert, is where decided to hang my hat.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
The calm quiet atmosphere which allows me to recharge my batteries before returning to a stressful job in Switzerland. The wonderful food my little Saida prepares for me and just generally the pampering I benefit from including Turkish baths, massages and beauty treatments. Also getting out into the mountain villages or to the Atlantic coast to hike and breath some fresh air.
