Is There Really a Place Called Bat Cave?

People ask that all the time, when we give our cottage address as Bat Cave, NC. Yes there is, and it is a most serene and beautiful place. Although Chimney Rock State Park is only a 7 minute drive and with Asheville only 20 miles away, being in Bat Cave is like being on vacation year round. Relaxing on a half acre of frontage on Hickory Creek is something we would like to share with you since we think it's the best view of the Creek in Hickory Nut Gorge and one of the most private.

Creekside Cottage is perfect for a romantic getaway or small gatherings of up to 6 people. The Cottage has one king-size bed, a double bed in the second bedroom, a queen-size sofa bed in living room, a Franklin stove with gas logs, Window Unit A/C, Washer and Dryer, fully equipped kitchen (except no dishwasher), televisions and DVD players, outdoor grill, and last, but not least..... a private steaming 2-person hot tub.

While the cottage is charming and comfortable, don't be surprised if you spend more time outside on the grounds than you do indoors. Guests love to share breakfast on the deck at the intimate creekside table for 2 and watch the sun dance over the small double waterfalls below. There's also a larger outdoor dining table for additional seating.

Beyond the deck, an inviting boardwalk beckons you to enjoy nature's playground of over half an acre of shady woods and creek frontage in a park-like setting. The crystal clear waters of Hickory Nut Creek are perfect for wading, fishing or just splashing around to cool off after a hot day. The less adventuresome can laze away the day in the hammock, lulled to sleep by the bubbling of the creek, just a stone's throw away. In the evenings, it's a cottage tradition to gather around the firepit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and sharing a picnic supper down by the creek.

If you can bear to leave this special cottage, hiking in Chimney Rock Park, gem mining and boating and swimming in Lake Lure are less than 10 minutes away. Finally, after a full day exploring this beautiful area, fall asleep at the end of the day to the sounds of rushing Hickory Nut Creek which can be heard from every room in the cottage. As our guests often note at the end of their stay, "Creekside Cottage was all you said it would be . . . and more."

High Season (Jun, July, Aug & Oct): $450/2 nights, ea addl night $155 or $950/wk
Mid Season (Ap, May, Sep, Nov & Dec): $400/2 nights, ea addl night $135 or $850/wk
Low Season (Jan, Feb & Mar): $350/2 nights, ea addl night $115 or $750/wk
All Major Holidays are High Season Rates, except 4th of July week which is $1100
50% rent deposit + $25 reservation fee + 10.75% tax required to confirm
reservation.  Balance due on arrival.  $350 security deposit required (held on
credit card).  30 days notice required to cancel, with $50 cancellation fee.
No refund if cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival, unless re-rented.
