The house was great. It was on a quiet road and you can see the ocean from the front. The house was perfect for the three of us and our dog. The photos provided match the house and amenitites perfectly. I would stay at the house next time I visit Gulf Shores. Thank you!!Recommended for: Pet owners.

This home has a great location. It is in a quiet neighborhood near the end of a dead end street, yet close enough to walk to many restaurants, and just a short drive to the beach. Even though not on the beach, you are close enough to hear the surf. The waterway in the backyard is a great place to watch pelicans, ducks and blue heron. Great view and a very clean house. My husband and I have been here a month and plan to stay another month. Even our two small dogs love it here. We can't wait to come back next year. If you're looking for a great place to rent don't hesitate to book this house.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Debra and her husband were very nice to work with. The location was convenient to many restaurants and local activities. We also enjoyed visiting the local zoo, and its caring staff. It was a private area and we enjoyed watching the water fowl in the canal behind the house while sittng on the deck. We could see the beach in the distance and enjoyed hearing the surf in the evenings. The house is roomy, bright and comfortable.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time at Green Heron House and hope to go back soon for a longer stay. The washer and dryer was a nice convenience. The big little house was cozy, clean, and a great place for relaxation. It is so close to everything you could walk to shops, the beach, or restaurants. We didn't use the canoe but look forward to using it on our next stay. Bring your fishing gear too! I wish I had brought my two little dogs they would have been welcome. The owners are true nature and animal lovers. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: Owner kayak fishing in Little Lagoon. This photo was taken on Thanksgiving Day while fishing with my husband and brothers. It was the biggest speckled trout I've ever caught - and I released her back into the lagoon as soon as the photo was taken.
Why the Owner Chose Homes, Single Family:
Our family has owned property next door for 15 years and we love the casual, relaxed atmosphere here. The property is surrounded by old growth, sand live oak and when our neighbors decided to sell we were concerned the trees would be cut down to further develop the property.
So, we did the only thing we could - we bought it! It's an isolated bit of 'old Gulf Shores' that's close to everything and we love it here!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Facing south to the gulf, the house is fronted by Stanton Creek which connects to other canals leading to Little Lagoon. The creek is a natural wetland, excellent for bird-watching and we love to canoe and kayak in the lagoon, which is a great place to fish or just watch the sunset. We're just a 5-minute walk to the public beach and 'The Hangout' in Gulf Shores, which makes this a great spot for the annual Shrimp Festival and we have a private balcony for the 4th of July Fireworks.
