CASA ADORE' is located in the OTERO-by-the-Plaza three-home compound. The Compound is just three blocks (a five minute stroll) to the Plaza and five blocks to art-studded Canyon Road. It is nestled into the wooded knoll that overlooks the historic Santa Fe Plaza. Aside from its easy accessibility to all Santa Fe has to offer, the Compound's great appeal is its quiet privacy, its unique colors and decor, and its flexibility in accommodating from 1 to 16 guests (or up to 42 in conjunction with neighboring homes). This 3/4 acre haven also adjoins the thirty-acre Fort Marcy Park with its 360-degree ring-of-mountain-views and breathtaking sunsets. Just beyond is National Forest.
OTERO IS AT ONCE DOWNTOWN AND COUNTRY.

There are three separate guesthomes within the OTERO-by-the-Plaza Compound that are available separately or jointly. This site's text and photos feature CASA ADORE'.
1) CASA ADORE' (The Endearing One)
This cute and cozy three-room territorial-style adobe is classic Old-Santa-Fe. Built in the 1930s for his family by the late "adobero" Jose Antonio Dominguez, this 770 sq foot home blends historic hand-crafted Dominguez furnishings with earthy international decor and contemporary museum-quality paintings. Eighteen delightful custom wall colors integrate the historic home. Entry is into a spacious, light-filled country kitchen with its pine plank flooring. The pass-through livingroom/den with its original viga-beam ceilings has two beautiful old storage "roperos". The bed-bath suite with its historic turquoise(!)viga-beam ceiling and pine flooring has oriental rugs, Mexican writing desk & other antiques and art.
On the outside, a street-side, wisteria laden, wood portal frames the territorial style windows with traditional lace curtains. Casa Adore' is buffered from street activity by a small supply room, and is entered from OTERO's internal courtyard.
2) CASA COLORES (House Filled with Color)
Three bedroom/2 bath adobe set in a quiet natural bowl of cedar and sage is 70 feet behind Casa Adore'. It provides 1700 square feet of generous living and dining space and a sequestered covered and vine laden ramada for convivial outdoor gathering (see VRBO #8979 for details).
3) CASA LINDE (The One Ajoining)
This two bedroom/2 bath house is located right next door to Casa Adore'. An outside staircase beneath mature pines connects courtyard to courtyard. Casa Linde's quality-equipped modern kitchen opens onto both the dining area and a fully fenced spacious outdoor patio with mature trees (see VRBO #36663 for details).

Sale! 129/Ni Jan-Feb--Authentic Old Santa Fe-3 Blocks to Plaza
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes, Historical Downtown
Twenty years ago we hand-built a now somewhat-celebrated, environmental strawbale home in the Jemez Mountains above Santa Fe. Ten years ago we decided to purchase an in-town pied a'terre--just a small gem-of-a-place in which we could overnight during shopping trips in Santa Fe. Wanting to get the right place in the right location, we engaged in an eight month exhaustive search and ended up purchasing--not one--but two adobe homes in this historic neighborhood just 3 blocks from the Plaza. They became our first guest homes. Now, in addition to living in this same neighborhood, we manage 8 other guesthomes in the same residential block. Why were we so seduced by this neighborhood? In short, it is partway up the ONLY knoll close to the Plaza. So from within any of our guesthomes, there is a constant sense of place: Our over-the-roof-top-views are of the historic Santa Fe Cathedral against a backdrop of mountain ranges and glorious sunsets. AND WITHIN 4-5 WALKING MINUTES WE ARE DOWNTOWN--RIGHT IN THE VERY HEART OF OLD SANTA FE! Here the glories of historic Santa Fe and our Southwest landscape are bundled into one. Our fascinating guests keep coming back and are now friends. We'll never move!
Owner's Map of Private Homes, Historical Downtown
Sir Dr. Russell Betts ("Russ") has lived and worked most of his professional life in Asia, the South Pacific, and Europe addressing issues relating to social, economic and political change. Now calling Santa Fe "home," Russ brings to Colorful Santa Fe his world-traveler perspective: comfortable, engaging lodgings to enliven cross-cultural worldviews.
Noel Bennett has lived most of her life in the Southwest. She is an abstract artist; her paintings grace the lobbies of several Santa Fe banks. Her art can also be viewed in the Noel Bennett Gallery by appointment only. In past years Noel lived with the Navajo for eight years and authored nine books on Navajo weaving, history and culture. Noel brings to Colorful Santa Fe a well-honed sense of color and unique perspectives on native world-views.....
Together we welcome the opportunity of hosting you in Colorful Santa Fe!

We really enjoyed this beautiful location. The hosts were very accommodating and made sure we were comfortable. They made themselves available to answer any enquiries we might have. The place was so handy and central, cozy, and very accurate as far as the description. Overall, a wonderful experience. We definitely would stay here if we return - which we hope to!!

We stayed in Casa Galeria for 4 nights during a particularly cold February week and were as cozy as can be. It was so pleasant to be in such a beautifully decorated home where it was easy and convenient to walk into town or drop out to Canyon Drive. We were in a 2-bedroom bungalow which was clean and well maintained. Cindy greeted us upon arrival and went through all the information with us which made it easy to settle in. The bathroom was small but both bedrooms had sinks in them - 4 people could easily settle in here! We would recommend it!

This has been a perfect location for our family on the occasion of the Ben West/Allison Bentley wedding. We have enjoyed each room, not only for the comfort it has afforded, but also because each room is of such artistic interest. Such a beautiful place to call home. Thanks for your personal hospitality, Russ and Noel.

What a joy it has been for us to step into your world, bathed in color and the sweeping dynamic of Noel's paintings. We are truly grateful for all you both did to create this moment in time and will depart this world with a host of beautiful memories and a reaffirmation of the beauty/goodness of life!
